How did the most beautiful and wise of God's creations become the embodiment of evil? On this episode of Bible Talk with Sister Deb Osborne, explore the dramatic downfall of Lucifer, whose pride led him to rebel against God and ultimately transform into Satan. Drawing from the vivid depictions in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28, we recount how Lucifer's ambition not only led to his own expulsion from heaven but also inspired a third of the angels to join his doomed rebellion. This story serves as a haunting reminder of the perils of pride and underscores the need for humility in our spiritual lives.

But the story doesn't end there. We dive into Satan's continuing attempts to sway humanity away from God. Examining his persistent influence through deception, fear, and doubt, we highlight both biblical accounts and modern-day examples, from social media to politics. Despite his relentless efforts, we emphasize the greater power of God's protection through Jesus Christ. Tune in for a compelling discussion that calls believers to stay vigilant, grounded in faith, and reassured by God's promise of ultimate victory over evil.

Speaker 2:

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. So today my message is going to be on the fall of Satan, and I really don't have, I'm going to be all over the word. So when we think about the first sin, we automatically think about the sins of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. But before their sin there was the sin and fall of Satan. So Satan's fall had to occur before Adam and Eve were ever even dwelling in the garden. According to Genesis, Satan was already present in the garden, so he was basically the first sinner in the world.

Speaker 2:

What I don't understand sometimes is why this being that God said was so perfect chose to rebel against the Lord. I mean, we can gather from Scripture that Satan became very prideful. He thought himself like God. So pride is what led to Satan's fall. His pride set him in opposition to God. You see, pride is a very dangerous sin, people, and it's what blocks people from turning to the Lord. Today, Friends, we have to be very careful when it comes to pride. Now, the devil's pride in believing that he knew better and could do better than God led to his fall and the fall of all the angels that followed him. See Satan become a fallen but powerful spirit, with a well-organized network of demon powers to help him accomplish his purposes. With a well-organized network of demon powers to help him accomplish his purposes. And, according to John 10.10, his purposes was to steal, kill and destroy. So Satan's fall from heaven is basically described in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28. And while these passages are referring to the king of Babylon and Tyre, it is believed that they were also referenced to the spiritual power behind them, which, of course, namely Satan.

Speaker 2:

Now, the book of Job tells us that Satan still had access to the throne of God, even at least in Job's time. And we read in Job 1, 6 and 7, that the angels came to present themselves before God and Satan came also. And the Bible tells us that the Lord asked Satan themselves before God and Satan came also. And the Bible tells us that the Lord asked Satan when have you come from? And Satan told God he came from, roaming through the earth and going back and forward in it. He was speaking directly to God.

Speaker 2:

So, apparently, at this time, Satan was still moving freely between heaven and earth and, as I said earlier, pride was the dividing factor of Satan's fall. He desired to be God, he didn't want to just be a servant of God. He wanted to knock God off his throne. But if we read in Isaiah 14, 12 through 15, Satan made some I will statements. He said I will ascend to heaven. He said I will set my throne on high and I will ascend to the height of the clouds. He said I will make myself like the most high. I mean, wow, was he not sure of his self? So yes, pride was Satan's downfall and he had a choice, just like all of us do. He had a choice to be what God created him to be.

Speaker 2:

So Ezekiel 28 tells us that Satan was the anointed cherub. His name then was Lucifer, and God had given him so much. He adorned him with every precious jewel that you can imagine. I mean, there's a whole list there. And according to Ezekiel 28, he was the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. So you know, as a creation of God, we know that Satan was created good. We know that he was persuasive enough to convince one-third of the angels to join him in his rebellion. So see, Satan was, he was the most beautiful of God's creations, but he was not content in his position. So, this fallen angel, he led a rebellion against God, a one that is only going to end when he is thrown into the lake of fire. See God's appointment of Lucifer as a cherub. It showed that God trusted him enough to give him a position of power.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I've tried to read around and see exactly what the cherub's jobs were, and I found a couple of different things. One of the things I found was he was like a praise and worship leader. I mean, can you imagine being a praise and worship leader around the throne of God? What is there not to be satisfied with that? But see, Satan wasn't satisfied with what God gave him. So Lucifer became so consumed with pride that he became violent and corrupt. He felt superior to God. He wanted to knock God off his throne. So he led this army of angels to scheme so that he can be greater to God and see.

Speaker 2:

As punishment for his disobedience, God cast Lucifer and his angels out of heaven by hurling them to the earth and condemning them to hell. Matthew 25, 41 tells us the place was created for Satan and his angels. See, people, friends, God did not want us. None of us were ever meant to go to hell. None of us were ever meant to go to hell. It wasn't built for us, it was built for Satan and his angels, and that's why God gave us free will. He gave us a choice. Now Jesus confirms the devil's fall when he warned that God did not spare even the angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell. 2 Peter, 2 and 4.

Speaker 2:

So see, once thrown from paradise, Satan realized he didn't have the power to directly take God's throne. He couldn't just knock God off his throne. He wasn't powerful enough. So he set his sights on tempting God's children to abandon him. So Satan, at that point in time that there, became mankind's enemy. And so Satan's first job as humanity's adversary was to cause humanity's first sin by tempting Adam and Eve. And he hasn't stopped. He has not stopped and he won't stop.

Speaker 2:

So compounding Satan's power is the fact that he isn't working alone. The army of angels that Satan assembled in his rebellion against God, one-third of them now serve as his demons, going around doing his bidding and see as followers. We know that Satan and his demons will be defeated by God and cast into the lake of fire. Matthew 25 tells us that. But, my friends, until the end times, Satan remains a spiritual being, a powerful one, whose goal is to deceive us. He wants to turn us against God. Satan is a source of all evil, he's a father of all lies and he has millions of demons to do his dirty work. But, friends, I tell you there are as many angels doing the work of God as well. If you read Revelations 5 and 11, it talks about the angels around God's throne, and that number of them were 10,000 times 10,000 and thousands of thousands People, that is, millions and millions. You know people you can believe.

Speaker 2:

Just as God is at work in people's lives, Satan is at work as well. He's pure evil. He's seeking to deceive. He wants to deceive us. He wants to deceive our loved ones. He wants to turn us against God. In 1 Peter 5 and 8, the Apostle Peter depicts Satan as a roaring lion walking about seeking to whom he may devour.

Speaker 2:

2 Corinthians 4 and 4 says the God of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel, which is Jesus Christ. So you see, Satan doesn't want us to be saved, he doesn't want our loved ones to be saved, he doesn't want us to believe in the gospel, he doesn't want us to become God's children and he is seeking to destroy us all. Friends, I'm telling you there is something bigger going on each day when we wake up, way more than our eyes can see, there's a great battle between good and evil, between God and Satan, between the angels and the demons, and that's going on way, way more than we can see. And the question is who are you following? You know, we shouldn't be so surprised when we see unbelievers acting out in an ungodly way.

Speaker 2:

Remember the scripture. You know, the gods of the world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so some will never understand the truth of God's words that we share with them because they believe the lies of Satan for so long. And no man in his natural ability can ever defeat Satan and his demons. His number one task is to turn our hearts against God, and he uses sickness, fear, disappointments, poverty, temptation, depression, among other things, to take our minds off. God See, Satan wants to steal your joy, your peace, your love, Friends. He wants to steal your future. He wants you to be destroyed in the lake of fire right along with him. He knows his destiny and Satan is God's enemy. Therefore, he's our enemy. He wants to place doubt into our minds of God's power to supply our needs. Remember, he's smart and he knows how to get to our weak spot.

Speaker 2:

He was in the Garden of Eden, People. He tempted all the great prophets and the apostles. He even won a few over, Remember, Judas People. He tried to tempt our Lord Jesus Christ. And we need to beware, because Satan is at work on social media. We need to beware of his lies. Satan is at work in the music industry. Beware of his lies. He is at work everywhere. He's in our college campuses, he's in our political realm, People. He is even in our churches. Yes, Satan goes to church and if given a chance, he'll walk right in and sit right down beside of you and join in. He doesn't care. He's seeking to divide and destroy and we can't fall for his lies.

Speaker 2:

People, you need to remember you are a child of God. He loves you, he's with you, he walks with you every step. Keep your eyes on him, because you are washed in the blood of the Lamb and people, I'm telling you there isn't a demon in hell that can reach its hand into the blood of Jesus Christ and pull you out. Don't give Satan a foothold in your life. Don't give in to his temptations. You see the devil. He can't hear your thoughts, but he can hear your words. So he puts bad thoughts in your head just so he can hear them come out of your mouth. See, that's why it's important that we have to watch what we say. We have to be fast to think and slow to speak, and Lord knows I have to pray about that sometimes.

Speaker 2:

Also, Satan is the master of disguise. He can come looking normal, like a friend or a family member or even a spouse People. Just because it looks good doesn't mean it's God and my friends. One day we will enjoy heaven without the pain and heartache of sin. We will be free one day. But until then, Satan knows his time is almost up. So we are going to face spiritual warfare every day, every day that we live for the Lord, every day. So we have to keep looking to God and don't give up.

Speaker 2:

See, Jesus said in John 10.10 that the thief comes not to steal and kill and destroy, but he said I come that they may have life and have it more abundantly. Through Jesus' death on the cross and the forgiveness of your sins, Jesus offers us an abundant life of joy, peace, love and a future in heaven with him. Remember, God said no weapons formed against you shall prosper. Deuteronomy 28.7 says they will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven. And finally, people.

Speaker 2:

Revelations 20.10 tells us how it all ends for Satan and his demons. It says and the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are and shall be tormented day and night, forever and ever. You see, people, Satan may be winning some of the battles right now, but make no mistake, God wins the war, and those who do not follow God, those who reject God and follow Satan, their end will be the same as Satan's in the lake of fire. And this is so sad. I don't want to see anyone go to hell. But see, this is the Word of God and I must have to be faithful to it. And I just want to teach it to you, to let you know what's out there and what he's doing. But it still makes me sad.

Speaker 2:

Now, why does God allow Satan to operate on earth? I don't know. Maybe so he gave us a choice between God and Satan. God gave us free will, just like the angels had a choice. Satan and his angels are already doomed and God is letting Satan run his course, which we know will take him to the lake of fire. See, the Lord tells you in His Word all about the devil, what he'll do, what the things he'll say to you.

Speaker 2:

Friends, Satan is a deceiver and the Bible tells us not to listen to him. James 4 and 7 says Resist the devil and he will flee from you. My friend, Satan is very powerful, but I know someone who's more powerful than he is, and that is God. And he tells us to submit to God and resist the devil, and the devil will flee from you. See, God tells us to put on the armor of God, and that doesn't mean go out here and dress up in a suit of armor. This armor of God is symbolic of the way we fight Satan.

Speaker 2:

In Ephesians 6, 13 through 17,. There's the belt of truth, which is God's Word. The Bible is the truth and we need to know it. There's the breastplate of righteousness. It's knowing and doing what's right. Shoes being the preparation of the gospel of peace, knowing and spreading the good news that Jesus saves, the shield of faith. Believe in God's word, which protects us from Satan's fairy darts, the helmet of salvation, knowing that you have been saved by Jesus' blood and people, the sword of the Spirit, which is God's word himself, and this is all we need that we can stand against the strikes of Satan. Even though Satan is powerful, we don't need to be afraid of him if we know Jesus Christ as our Savior, Because we know that one day Jesus will destroy all the works of the devil.

Speaker 2:

People, please, please, please, listen to me. If Satan can talk the angels out of heaven, you best believe he can talk us into hell. Please don't be fooled. Remember 1 Peter, 5 and 8 says to be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary, the devil, walks about as a roaring lion seeking who he may devour People. Satan deceived a third of the angels that were actually in the presence of God.

Speaker 2:

Can you imagine the power he has over mere men that don't submit to the Word of God? But see, God said in Luke 10, 19,. He said Behold, I give you power to tread over serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Yes, the Lord has given you power. You don't have to bow down to the devil, and I hope this has given you something to think about, because it's really an amazement to me that people would rather have fun here in this dying world than to prepare for eternity in heaven.

Speaker 2:

Satan don't Friends. Satan doesn't win, and neither will you if you follow him. And I ask you, if you were to die right now, where would you go? To heaven or hell? You know we need to do everything we can do to go to heaven and be with the saints and Jesus and our Heavenly Father. See, we can only serve one master here, and that's God or Satan. And I'm going to close with this.

Speaker 2:

Satan's pride was the first sin committed in the universe and we have been on notice ever since. That pride goeth. Before the fall, it's Proverbs 16 and 18. Friends, the faithful believer can keep from being mixed up in pride and all the other sins that come along with pride by living by the Word of God. The Word of God tells us to love one another and to love God, in Matthew 22. He tells us to make every effort to live in peace with everyone, which is Hebrews 12. He tells us to pray for our enemies, in Matthew 5. And by doing what we can to reflect love and peace, we can resist Satan. By keeping pride at bay and submitting to the will of God, who promises to oppose the proud and to lift up the humble.

Speaker 2:

Friends, the choice is yours. I so encourage you to dwell on the promises of God and in his word and give no place to the lies of the devil. Look unto Jesus. You know he's the author and the finisher of your faith and, in the words of Joshua, choose you this day, whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Friends, you have a choice. God gave you a choice, every one of us. He gave us the choice.

Speaker 2:

The devil, right now, wants you to get off of the road with Satan. Right now, he wants you to step aside. Let Satan go, get off of his road to hell and put your trust in him. Put your trust in him. Won't you do it? Won't you get off of that road? Won't you let the Lord lead you and guide you to your heavenly home? You don't want to burn in hell. You don't want to be where there's gnashing of teeth and screaming and burning. You don't want to go there.

Speaker 2:

I urge you, urge you to give your life to the Lord, wherever you are right now. Sit down somewhere, pray to the Lord, ask him to forgive you of your sins. Ask him to come into your heart and be your personal savior. He will. He's right there, he's waiting. People that tug you feel right now probably is the Spirit of the Lord talking to you, the Holy Spirit. So please, please, I urge you, I urge you. If I've said anything here today that has made any comment on you at all, anything on you in your mind at all, please, please, talk to the Lord and I pray this message has blessed you as much as it has me to bring it to you and everybody.
