Speaker 2:

How about confusing the devil? I know we've got a whatever, whatever we're doing here. We kind of got an order of service, but I like it when the Holy Ghost comes by and just messes us all kinds of up. All right, all right, all right. I'm not going to sing any more right now. Don't go far. Good job, girls hopping right on up there and helping a brother. Amen. Good job, girls hopping right on up there and helping a brother. Amen, william. Stay in your cage over there, animal, hold on to your sticks there.

Speaker 2:

Verse 1 I'm going to make this. How many of you know? The Bible says that God's word is quick and powerful. As quick as it is, it's as powerful we could sing all day long and it not do a thing. But the word of God will not return void.

Speaker 2:

The first day of the week cometh, mary Magdalene, early, early. Anybody that showed up this morning at 6.30 is early. I ain't gonna lie. I laid in my bed at 5.30 and I'm like Lord, you know I love you and I know you rose up on the third day early in the morning. But I got myself up and I'll crash after I ate. My third day early in the morning, but I got myself up and I'll crash after I ate my mother-in-law's dinner. She came early, when it was yet dark, unto the tomb, the sepulcher, the tomb, and seeth the stone taken away from the tomb or the sepulcher, verse 2. Then she runneth and cometh to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved and saith unto them. They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher and we know not where they have laid him. Isn't that just like us? He already said on the third day I'm getting up. He told all of his followers they're going to tear down the temple, but in three days it'll be built again. He told his followers. When Jesus told them Did y'all just read? Which disciple did it say that he loved that first name right there, peter. He loved him. And the other disciple don't know who that was, but he loved Peter. Peter's the one that Jesus made the bold proclamation.

Speaker 2:

When Jesus said who do you say that I am? Who do others say that I am he? Who do others say that I am? He said well, some say you're John the Baptist and some say you're Elijah, and some say you're Jeremiah and some say you're Isaiah and some say you're Tyler and some say you're Steve and some say you're this. But he said but who do you say that I am? I didn't come here to ask you who your granny says he was. I got a heritage as steep as anybody in this room. I got a Pentecostal pedigree as deep as anybody in this room, but what they did it's not going to get me anywhere. Amen. He can ask me who does Howard Farmer say that I am? Or who does Howard Farmer say that I am? Or who does Joe Bill Carter say I love those men, my grandfather and my dad. But what he's asking me today Is who do you say that I am?

Speaker 2:

Peter said Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God. And Jesus said Flesh and blood didn't reveal this to you, but my father. And he said I'm going to change your name now from Simon, which means pebble, to Peter. He said you're going to be Peter and upon this rock I'll build my church and the gates of hell. I said the gates of hell shall not, cannot, will not prevail against it. So Simon the pebble went to Peter the rock. A couple chapters later, jesus said I got to go to the rock. Couple chapters later, jesus said I gotta go to the cross. And Peter the rock said oh no, you can't go to the cross. We love you, we need you, we'll protect you, we'll fight for you, we'll keep you safe. This can't happen to you. And what did Jesus say Get behind me, satan. So he went from Simon the pebble to Peter the rock and, two chapters later, satan. So Jesus has already told all of his disciples I'm coming again, I'm going to rise from the dead. On the third day. And his disciples told I'm coming again on the third, I'm going to rise from the dead on the third day. And his disciples told all of their families and Mary Magdalene even got the memo that on three days, on the third day, he was going to rise from the dead. Amen.

Speaker 2:

So she goes in faith, believing what he said. But when she gets there, she actually sees that he's not there and she starts not believing. That's us. We pray. We hear what he says, we believe what he says Turn me up in the monitors please, not the speakers, but the monitors only. Amen. We hear him. We say we believe him. We read it in the book. We say we're going to stand on it. But when God starts moving and when God starts him, we read it in the book, we say we're going to stand on it. But when God starts moving and when God starts answering, we start doubting.

Speaker 2:

So the first question I'm asking every person in this room who do you say he is? Who is he to you? Who is he to you? It don't matter who you know, it don't matter the contacts in your phone, it don't matter who you rub elbows with who do you say that he is? Who is he to you? He's either your savior or you just know of him. So she shows up early. He's gone. She goes to tell Peter they've stolen his body. We can't find him. We gotta find where they laid him.

Speaker 2:

So Peter went forth and the other disciple and came to the sepulcher or the tomb verse four, I'm almost done already. How about that? So they ran both together and the other disciple outrun Peter and came first to the sepulcher. So here's how that went. Come here, jared. I'm not a runner, but I am today. Okay, I'm not a runner, but I am today, okay.

Speaker 2:

So the tomb, up, there is the pulpit and these two disciples are side by side and they're wanting to go see for themselves. So the spirit of run got in their legs. It better be the spirit, if I'm running, telling you right now, if I'm running, steve, grab your gun, brother, somebody's after me. I didn't say bicycling, I'll bicycle with the best of you, man, if you see me running, something's wrong. I promise Something's wrong or something's right, one or the other. So they ran, man together, and the other disciple outran, peter. Peter's trying to get there as fast as he can. I guess he's old, I don't know, but he outruns him and they get there.

Speaker 2:

Next verse five man and he's stooping. You can go sit down now Peter gets there. Finally, five minutes later, peter gets there and he sto stooping. You can go sit down now Peter gets there. Finally, five minutes later, peter gets there and he stoops down looking in and he saw the linen cloths lying, yet went not in, keep going. Then cometh Simon I'm sorry, he was the one that looked in. Then Simon shows up and he went into the sepulcher and seeeth the linen clothes laying there and the napkin was about his head, not lying with the linen cloths but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went he and also the other disciple which came first, to the sepulcher and he saw and believed. So they walked in and where Jesus' body had been lying. The grave clothes were neatly folded and the linen cloth that was over his head was neatly folded. So not only did Jesus leave, he didn't leave a mess.

Speaker 2:

Let me say that again when anywhere Jesus is, he will not leave a mess. I need to know is there anybody in this room? You've been through a mess. I mean, you've been through a mess, whether it's your physical health, your emotional health, your mental health, your family, your kids, your job, your finance. Whatever you're going through, it has been a mess, it has been a wreck. The devil has tried to tear you up from the floor. The devil's tried to destroy you. The devil's tried to come against you. I'm here to tell you, if you'll invite Jesus into the middle of it, he'll clean things up and he won't leave a mess. He'll make the mess disappear. Wherever Jesus is, there's no mess. There's no mess.

Speaker 2:

Next verse, for as yet they knew not the scripture that he must rise again from the dead Verse 10. Then the disciples went away again to their own home, but Mary stood without at the sepulcher, weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the sepulcher and seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her Woman why weepest thou? Why are you crying? What's wrong? What is it that's got you so tore up? And she said Because they have taken away my Lord and I know not where they have laid him. My God, I wish the mentality of people would be the Lord. I can't find him and I need him. I can't find him, but I need him. I came to tell somebody today amen, he's right where you left him. He's right where you left him. Amen, all you gotta do is go back. All you gotta do is call on his name and he's gonna come right back to you. Amen. And they say I'm sorry, go to the next verse, verse 14,. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back and saw Jesus standing and knew not that it was Jesus. Now let me say this I believe Jesus is in the arrangements and a lot of times we don't even know he's there. But he's there. Amen, I believe he's here.

Speaker 2:

Where'd Paige go? She was raptured. We ever would have missed it. Imagine that Paige is the only one going to heaven. I wouldn't have believed it anyway.

Speaker 2:

When she testified, she said I believe he's here, amen, and I'll take it a step further. I not only believe he's here, I believe he's here, amen, and I'll take it a step further. I not only believe he's here, I believe he's been here a minute. I believe he's been here, sister Wendike, ever since 1926, when four to five women got together and said you know what? Nothing's working in our life, amen, nothing's working. We're going through things and we don't know what else to do. I met one of them, but I didn't meet the others, amen. And the one I met, she told me.

Speaker 2:

She said the only thing I know to do, amen, is to call on the Lord. He is not my last resort, he is my first resort. You'll never hear somebody say I did all I know to do, so I'm just going to pray. No, no, don't say that, because if you've done all you know to do, you've wasted time. It is time we pray first. We pray first. We seek God first. We go after him first. You want things first, then you put God first. You want God to move, then you put God first. You want to be healed? You put God first. You want to be blessed, you put God first. I'm telling you, you better put God first. Let me tell you something else. He has a way to get our attention when he's not first. He has a way to get our attention when he's not first. She said I don't know where they've laid him up first. She said I don't know where they've laid him, I've got to find him.

Speaker 2:

Next verse Jesus saith unto her Woman why weepest thou Whom seekest thou? She's supposing him to be the gardener. Isn't that something else? Not to even know the face and the voice of the God? You say you serve Amen. We got a lot of name. It claim it.

Speaker 2:

People in the world today, they say they serve him, they say they know him, they say they know him, they say they love him. But they can't even see him in the storm and they can't even see him in the trials and they can't even see him in the tribulation and they can't even see him in death. They can't even see him when everything is falling around them. They can't see him. But he was there all the time. He's not the gardener, he's not the mechanic, he's not the customer. He's not the banker. He's not the preacher, he's not the worship leader, he's not the Sunday school teacher. He's not the principal, he's not the CEO, he's none of those things.

Speaker 2:

We've got to stop looking to people. We're looking to people to fulfill needs, we're looking to people to fill voids and we need to be looking to Jesus, who doesn't know how to be anything. But first, if he's not Lord of all, he's not Lord at all. No, no, you didn't hear me say If he's not Lord of all that you have, that you possess, then he's not Lord at all. He's not your genie in a bottle, he's not your lucky rabbit's foot, he's not somebody you call only in the time of trouble. He's one that wants to be a friend that sticks closer than a brother. Be a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

Speaker 2:

So she thought he was the gardener. She said, sir, if you have borne him, hence, tell me where you've laid him and I'll take him 16. Jesus said unto her Mary the gardener knew her name. That's not an ordinary gardener. He said Mary, and as soon as she heard that man say her name off of his lips, she needed no more proof of who he was. She said Rabboni, which is to say Master. I've only heard Mary said like that one other time. I've only heard one person say Mary. Like that person said Mary, and it wasn't my mama and it wasn't my daddy and it wasn't my boss and it wasn't my neighbor, it was my master.

Speaker 2:

I came to tell somebody the master knows your name. Hey, at the count of three, everybody say your name out loud. On the count of three, say your name out loud One, two, three. He knows your name. Some of you didn't participate because you are too cool. I'm telling you, I will call you out If I don't see your name come off your lips. On the count of three. One, two, three. He knows every name in this house. He is your Lord, he is your Lord, he is your King, he is your Master, he's your Master. I ain't saying my name, god forbid. You look humble. He has a way of doing that too. He has a way of humbling us too. You better call on his name, boy. Amen. You better know him. You better know him. You're gonna call on his name. You hear me right now, you are gonna call on his name. And if you don't do it now, I'm telling you it's gonna be at a time where you don't care who hears you, you don't care who sees you, because you're gonna be in a place of desperation and you're gonna need your rabboni, your master, to show up on the scene when you call his name. Amen, amen, he knows your name, he knows your name. He knows your name. He knows what holler you live in. Amen.

Speaker 2:

Next verse Jesus saith unto her Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended to my Father, but go to my brethren. I ain't even gonna preach doctrine out there. First person to get told by Jesus to go preach the gospel was a woman. Take that up with the scripture. Jesus saith unto her touch me not, for I am not yet ascended to my father, but go, tell. Go to my brethren and say unto them, I ascend to my father and your father and to my God and to your God. Next verse Mary Magdalene came to the disciples. Amen. She told the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that he had spoken these things to her. Oh, let's keep going. Let's keep going.

Speaker 2:

Then, the same day, at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut. There are times that God opens doors and closes doors, but there are also times that the enemy will try to shut doors on you. It's the first day of the week and the doors were shut. There's a reason. John said the doors were shut when the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews. When the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst and saith unto them Peace unto you. He walked through the door because he said the door was closed, but it never says the door ever opened. So it tells me Jesus walked through the door. So I'm telling you, when the devil tries to shut a door that was never intended to be shut, jesus will just walk right through it.

Speaker 2:

The doctor said cancer and the doctor said two months. And the doctor said this and the devil slammed the door. But the great physician showed up on the scene and walked through the door and said I don't care what the doctor said, I'm Dr Jesus and what I say goes. And when he had so said, he showed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again peace unto you, as my father hath sent me. Even so, I send you. And when he said this, he breathed on them and saith unto them receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whosoever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them, and whosoever sins ye retain, they are retained. But Thomas one of the 12, who was also called Didymus was not with them when Jesus came. So Thomas was left out when Jesus appeared to the disciples and the other disciples therefore said unto him we have seen the Lord.

Speaker 2:

Y'all ever met them? People that lie. I've got four truth tellers. I guess I've met a lot. Have you ever met the people that the truth? Some of you want to holler names. Don't, just don't. I'm telling you I've met them. If they told the truth, it's a move of God Because, as my granny farmer used to say, they'd read the lie with the truth standing right in their face. Nobody knows any liars in the house. Yeah, you do. Anybody ever met a doubter? Negative, negative, Wah, wah, negative. You know you're telling all these good things that God's doing and then somebody says, yeah, but wah, wah. You ever met the ones where you do not ask them how are you? Unless you got a minute? Because they're going to tell you how they are and before they get done they're going from having a good day to I don't even know how they're living because they've talked themselves right into dying.

Speaker 2:

So the disciples were excited to tell Thomas we've seen the Lord.

Speaker 2:

But he but Thomas. But Thomas, oh Thomas said unto them here's how it is, boys. And then there's those who think you've been on this side of the fence too. You think they've got together to tell a story to make you believe, to make you look dumb, right, you're like I know y'all got together and conjured this up. Y'all ain't seen no Lord. You know we all the time giving Thomas a bad rap. And Thomas is probably like I've hung out with you boys long enough to know you're gonna get me if you can.

Speaker 2:

But this is not a laughing matter. This is too soon to be making jokes about the Lord Telling me you've seen the Lord. I'll tell you what boys there ain't. No way I'm going to believe what you say unless one of two things happen, except I see in his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the print of the nails and thrust my hand into his side. Unless I can do that, I ain't believing you. Okay, okay, but don't say we didn't warn you, because eight days later the disciples were with him and Thomas was with them this time, and Jesus then came Jesus. The doors being shut. Jesus likes walking through doors. The God I serve likes to walk through doors. You're not hearing me. You're sitting there in an oh. Woe is me, poor, pitiful me. I'm here to tell you if you are saved, blood-bought and born again, don't count a closed door as being it, because the God you serve walks through doors. Second time he walks through the doors it being shut, and he stood in the midst and he said peace unto you.

Speaker 2:

27. 27. I'm about to. This time he called out Thomas individually. Tyler, start playing Singers, get ready, get ready. He calls Thomas, come here, come here, thomas, come here. Come here, thomas, come here. So Come here, thomas, come here. Thomas, come here, come here. Come on up here, thomas. Come up higher, thomas, thomas, thomas. About eight days here, thomas, come up higher, thomas Thomas. About eight days ago, buddy, I heard you say that you ain't going to believe it's me unless you could put your finger into the holes of my hands and thrust your hand into the holes of my hands and thrust your hand into my side. Here's my hands and here's my side. Be not faithful, be not faithless, but believing. 28. And Thomas answered and said unto him my Lord and my God, my Lord and my God.

Speaker 2:

You asked for a sign and I gave it to you. And he said no doubt for the rest of the world, that time lasts. You will be known as Doubting Thomas, but today you have said my Lord and my God, the greatest testimony you can give is that he is your Lord and your God. And Jesus said to Thomas because you have seen me, you have believed. He said. But blessed are those that have not seen yet they have believed. There's nobody in this room that has physically, physically, put eyes on Jesus. No, we've seen the remnants and the proof, but we've never seen Him. Pastor, I saw Him in a vision, okay, but you didn't physically see Him. I saw Him in a dream, okay, yes, that's a dream and we will dream dreams and we will have visions, but you did not physically see him. Blessed are those who believe without seeing. But here's the deal we can see. Everybody. Take a deep breath, blow out that was Jesus. Everybody, put your hand over your heart, feel that thump. Feel that thump.

Speaker 1:

That's Jesus.

Speaker 2:

That's not your hard work, that's not your degree, that's not your bank account, that's not all the things you've done to deserve what you have. Brother Tyler preached at our sunrise service this morning how that every day His mercy starts over, how that His grace is sufficient. Oh, but I'm a sinner. I'm a bad sinner.

Speaker 2:

Good, let me tell you what the Bible says about all those many sins you've committed. Where sin abounds, where sins have been stacked up, where sins have been stacked up, where sins have been accumulated, where you have tagged yourself as an all-meaning sinner, where sin abounds. You know what the Bible says Grace, everybody say grace. Grace Does much more. Let me break it down. Charlie Brown, if you got 10 sins, he got 11 graces. He's got enough grace to take all 10 of them and give you one. If you've committed 100 sins, he's got 101 graces, where he'll take all 10 of them and give you one. If you've committed 100 sins, he's got 101 graces, where he'll take all 100 away and give you one left over. Where sin abounds, grace does much more abound. You allow guilt to do this to you, when all Jesus is doing is waiting on you to say come unto me, let me show you who I am and what I can do. Every head bowed and every eye closed. I'm not gonna ask for a show of hands today. I'm over that. I'm over that game. You're either going to assert him or you ain't.

Speaker 2:

Horrible grammar, awesome theology. But I do want you to bow your heads, because there are Christians in this room and there are people who have never been saved in this room. There are people who are backsliders in this room. There are backsliders in this room that have a calling on your life, and you will stand before God as a backslidden, whatever you're called to do. If you've been called to preach and you're backslidden, you'll stand before God as a backslidden preacher. If you're a backslidden prophet, you'll stand before God as a backslidden prophet. If you're a backslidden prophet, you'll stand before God as a backslidden prophet. If you've never known the Lord, you can't say that you've never heard it now, because I just told you, I just spent 30 minutes telling you about a Savior who rose from the dead so that you too could raise from the dead one day. I need the Christian people in this room. I need you. Just go ahead and pray.

Speaker 1:

I need. You just go ahead and pray.
