Sister Deb Osborne shares the profound importance of the Bible as God's direct, inspired, and unmistakable communication to humanity, emphasizing its unchanging truth and transformative power in our lives.

• The Bible contains God's precise words - He "didn't mumble" but spoke clearly about matters concerning both Him and us
• Biblical illiteracy is rampant with 48% of Christians unable to name the four Gospels and 60% unable to recall five of the Ten Commandments
• Despite being written by people from various backgrounds (shepherds, kings, soldiers, fishermen), the Bible reads as one cohesive book due to divine inspiration
• Scripture has power to transform lives - "It can tear you to pieces and then put you back together again"
• The Word of God provides protection against spiritual attacks, as Sister Deb shares from personal experience
• A warning that a time is coming when owning a Bible will be illegal, making it crucial to internalize Scripture now
• The Bible serves as our roadmap, providing light, comfort, wisdom, and strength for every situation

Please pick up your Bible, read it, understand it, and believe it while you still can. There will come a time when we'll seek God's Word and won't be able to find it. Put His Word on the tables of your heart now, before it becomes forbidden.

Speaker 1:

Paul, Amen, Amen, Thank you. Thank you for being here, man. What an awesome day it is. Any day that the Lord gives us is an awesome day, and today I want to talk about something else that's really awesome. I want to talk to you about this awesome book that the Lord has handed us. You know, he gave us a book and in that book he spoke to us. God spoke to us and he said exactly what he wanted to say, and he said it so that we could all understand it, Because, you know, someday we're going to be accountable for it.

Speaker 1:

God has spoken. He didn't mumble, he spoke clearly. He spoke precisely and exactly and directly to the matters that concern him and us. He's sworn in his revelation, the Holy Bible that he spoke in the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. And it's all true. It's true, All of it's true. Nothing in it is untrue. It's what God desired to reveal to us, what he wanted us to know. Now, the rest of the stuff that God wants us to know, we're going to learn in eternity, you know. But this stuff that he wanted us to know, the Bible alone, is the true word of God, the one true God. He didn't write no other books. There's only one book. There's only one God and he spoke in only one book. There's only one God and he spoke in only one book. You know all other supposed revelations of God are not from God at all. They're just concoctions of men, and anything other than the Holy Bible is all deception. It's all wrong. I know I might probably step on toes, but I'm not trying to. It's just how I feel and I believe this is what God wants me to say today that he's spoken in that book and the Holy Bible and he wants everybody to know. If it is not contained in the 66 books of the Bible, it's not the Word of God. If it's not in the 66 books of the Bible, God did not say it and that's what he's wanting everybody to know today. You know there's going to be so many things out there coming up on us. That's going to be said. God said this. God said that you know false prophets on their way. They're already here. If it's not in that Bible, God didn't say it.

Speaker 1:

Now there's an ongoing war over the word of God. There's those people who despise it, there's those people who dissect it and they want to leave parts out, leave this verse and leave that verse and preach on you about this verse, while this verse over here is left out, they dissect it and most people really just disregard it. But to me, I think the greatest enemy that the Word of God has is the people who believe it but don't know it. They don't know it, they believe it, but do they know what they're believing? I don't know. There has been many instances in which scientific theories has gone against the Word of God. But see, these theories always crumble, because that's what they are just theories. You know they crumble over time. Now, science, science itself changes, changes directions, it improves and it builds upon itself, but the true Word of God remains unchanged and unmovable, no matter what. It always has been unmovable and it always will be.

Speaker 1:

And some people think that it's primarily a history book. I'm not saying that. I believe that I think the Bible does record some notable events. That has been verified by historians. But see, people, the Bible was written by people from all kinds of backgrounds. We had shepherds, kings, soldiers, princes, priests, and you know what? We had fishermen. Yet from Genesis to Revelation, it reads all as one book because of its divine inspiration. It reads all as one book because of its divine inspiration. Yeah, the Bible has faced much opposition, yet it survived. It survived and it still applies today. Now, the Bible's not the book of the month, friends, the Bible is the book of the ages. You know, someone once said the gospel of Christ is the dynamite of God that saves. It saves sinners, it sanctifies the saints, it sustains the suffering and, you know, it satisfies scholars.

Speaker 1:

You know there's people that's broke it down and been satisfied by what it says. Do they believe? We don't know. But the Bible, in all of its wonder and majesty, is summed up in just one phrase, and I love this phrase and I know you're going to find it familiar. It's summed up in all this phrase wow, you know, and that's what the Bible is. It shows his love for us. He shows his love because he gave us that word, he gave us that roadmap.

Speaker 1:

You know, I'm going to tell you what I heard about a man. I can't remember exactly what his name was. He was a Christian man and he might have been a teacher, maybe, and he decided to conduct a survey of Christians and the discovery of that knowledge, of their knowledge of these Christian people's knowledge of the Bible, wasn't too good at all. It wasn't too good. He discovered that 48% could not name the four Gospels, 60% couldn't name five of the Ten Commandments. And I'm just wondering wow, can people even name one or two of them? See, most people have a deep respect for the Word of God, but they don't know what it says. They don't read it enough and understand it. But they don't know what it says. They don't read it enough and understand it and they don't ask for understanding. They don't read it enough to understand it and because they don't know it, they become a nation of biblical illiterates is what I'm going to use. I'm not trying to be mean to anybody, but I'm going to tell you what.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to give you an example of a story I read and you be the judge. There was an. I read the story the other day. It was about. He said there was a new pastor, I'm not going to say any names.

Speaker 1:

He was asked to teach the junior high boys Sunday school class when the regular teacher was absent. And so the pastor decided to see what these boys knew. He decided to test them. So we asked those boys in this class he said so who knocked down the walls of Jericho? So all these boys, these junior high school boys. They denied having done it. They didn't know nothing about it. They said Didn't see, nobody do it. And the preacher was appalled by their I'm going to say ignorance. So he decided at the next elders meeting at his church that he was going to talk to the elders about it. And so when they had the next meeting, all the elders were there and he was telling them about what he asked these young boys and he told the elders. He said not one of them knew who knocked down the walls of Jericho, right?

Speaker 1:

And so the story goes to say that the group of elders fell silent and then one of them, a seasoned veteran, spoke up and he said he said now, now, preacher, this seems to be bothering you quite a bit a lot, but now I've known these boys since they were born and if they're pretty good boys and if they said that they didn't know who did it, I believe them. And he goes on to say the pastor's sitting there, open mouth, I'm sure. And the elder goes on to say so let's just take some money out of the maintenance fund and let's fix the walls and let it go at that. I mean really, I mean biblical illiterate. Now, you know what I mean by that when I say that. Right, but you know what people, the Apostle Paul said All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctoring, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3, 16 and 17. See, this word he gave us. It's inspired by God and it's profitable. It has the power to change and transform your life if you let it.

Speaker 1:

The Bible, the word of God, the law of the Lord, it's precious, it's awesome. It's amazing If you read it. If you read Psalms 119, most of Psalms 119, it's got quite a few verses is all about the Word of God. And it says in 119.1, blessed are the underfiled who walk in the law of the Lord. If you want to be blessed, people live according to God's Word. Psalms 119.11 said God's Word, it's going to make you pure. It says your word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you? God's Word is going to make you pure. Sin against you, god's Word is going to make you pure. A great preacher once said God's Word will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from God's Word. And the Bible is full of amazing and miraculous stories. Psalm 119.18 says Open thou mine eyes that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. God's Word gives us wisdom and direction. Psalms 119, 105 Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path Wow. John 8, 31 and 32 says. Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed on him. If ye continue in my word, then you are my disciples indeed, and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. The truth, the word of God, will make you free People.

Speaker 1:

God has recorded his words in that book and we need to search it. We need to search its pages daily with a burning heart. God's word is our weapon. The Word is pure, it's holy and righteous. Romans 7 12 says God's Word is holy and righteous and good. It even warns us against doing things to the Word.

Speaker 1:

Revelations 22, 18 and 19 says do not add to Scripture and don't take away from Scripture. And you know what Jesus said in John 10, 35? He said the Scripture cannot be broken. It's a chain, people, it's all linked. All the verses are linked, all the chapters are linked, all 66 books are linked, the Testaments are linked and there's nowhere it can be broken. Every word is true, it's the truth and nothing but the truth. Every word is pure. You know, psalms 12 and 6 says the words of the Lord are pure Words as silver, tested in a furnace, refined Wow, pure silver. And you know what? The Bible itself is the most powerful book, because it's the only divine book. It can tear you to pieces and then put you back together again. You know, and it's so powerful because it's life transforming people.

Speaker 1:

It's not the word of man, it's the word of God. Every word of it is of God, every word of it, and we need to love it, we need to hunger for it, learn from it, proclaim it, defend it and we use it to worship God and people. You have to believe the word of God. Don't make the same mistakes the Israelites did. They wandered through the desert and they didn't believe God's Word. They didn't believe nothing. Look what happened to them. Friends, please read the Word of God. Study the Bible daily, love your Bibles, take your Bibles to church, see. The Word of God refreshes our thinking. It helps us to see things from God's perspective. It leads us to a deeper understanding of God's character. The Word of God strengthens us to overcome temptations, to endure hardships. The Word of God, it's our roadmap. It's our roadmap. I read something that an unknown writer wrote and.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to try to read some. I might not get through all of it. An unknown writer said the Bible, this book, it's the mind of God, it's the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. And it said read it to be wise, believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy. It contains a light to direct you, food to support you and comfort to cheer you up. And comfort to cheer you up. It's the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass and the soldier's sword. Christ is its grand subject, our good is its design and the glory of God is its end. It will fill your memory, rule the heart and guide your feet, and we need to read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It's a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of pleasure, and if you follow its laws, it will lead you to Calvary, it will lead you to the empty tomb, it will lead you to a resurrected life in Christ and, yes, my friends, it will lead you to glory itself for eternity.

Speaker 1:

And, folks, I just want you to know today this Word of God. There's going to come a day when we are going to seek the Word of God and we're not going to be able to find it. It's going to be against the law to even own one, against the law to even have it laying on your table. You're possibly going to be beheaded or even jailed just for having one on your table. You are going to need that Word of God, this laws of God. You're going to need that Word of God to stand in the tribulation. And it's coming and you need to read it, to bask in it, soak it in love it, hold on to it, put it on the tables of your heart, because we're going to seek that word One day. We're going to seek that word and we're not going to find it. Friends, I'm telling you today, I'm going to tell you about me and my Bible. The enemy come right into my mind, for I don't know how, days on end in my own home and for I don't know how, days on end in my own home, in my mind, talking to me and telling me things and saying things, and I'd start feeling funny and I'd have chest pains and I'd start breathing funny and it was all a mind game of the enemy.

Speaker 1:

And I got to where I would hold my Bible in my arms. I would hold it to my chest and I would rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus Christ. I didn't even have to open it. All I had to do was put it on my chest and hold on to it and I would cry out to God, lord, help me. And I would hold that word to my chest like a pillow. I would hold that word up next to me. And if it weren't for that word, if it weren't for having that word on my body, close to me, holding me, it was holding me just as tight as I was holding it and I prayed and cried out to God. And when I started praying and crying out to God and rebuking Satan in the name of Jesus Christ, and I had that Bible on my chest, I was an overcomer. And he did it every night and it was always a night time when the sun went down and it got dark outside, every time, every night, and this went on for the longest time. But that word I didn't even have to open it. All I had to do was sit there and hold it in my arms up to my chest, on my heart.

Speaker 1:

There's nights still to this day. I still sleep with it on my chest. Sometimes it's in my bed somewhere with me when I lay down I may turn over and there it is on a pillow. I'll feel it up under my head, under my pillow, under my back. I think one night I woke up the other night and my dog was actually laid out stretched across it. I think one night I woke up the other night and my dog was actually laid out stretched across it.

Speaker 1:

I keep this Word of God on my person as much as I possibly can. I've got several at home. I've got I don't know how many I've got in my car. I've got the Word of God everywhere that I turn I try to have. I've got a prayer box in my house and when I hear that people need prayer I put their name in that box. And you know what? I've got that box sitting on. I'm pretty sure it's a family Bible and inside of that prayer box I have two Bibles covering the names. So every name that I put into that box, not only do I call out to the Lord for every name I don't remember every single name, but the Lord knows every name and why it's there and I call out to God for the names and what goes on in these families and everybody that God knows everybody's needs. And I covered those names with the word of God, not one, but two, side by side, covering these names. So not only am I crying out to the Lord for these people, these names, these families, they're covered by the word of God Every day. They stay there.

Speaker 1:

People, we are going to need this word of God. We need to dust it off, pick it up, open it up and start reading it and start searching it and start seeking the Word of God and putting it on the tables of our heart, Because there's going to come a time we're not going to be able to open it, we're not going to be able to even have it laying out. We'll have to hide them. It's going to be against the law. That's why he tells us to put it on the tables of our heart. I hope this has went to somebody's heart.

Speaker 1:

I hope you understand and you believe what I'm saying about this word. Everything that you can imagine is in that word of God. Every story, everything pertains to us. He gave us this word. He gave us this roadmap and people. All you have to do is crack it open and look at it and read it, and when you start reading his word, pray for the understanding He'll give it to you. I'm going to close. I hope and pray that this has blessed you as much as it's blessed me to bring it to you. I thank you for listening. Please, please, please, people, pick that Bible up, crack it open, read it, understand it, talk to God about it and believe it. It's his word, it is the truth and nothing but the truth. Thank you very much. God bless everybody and join me next week, Lord's willing, for another episode of Bible Talk.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to end with a prayer and God bless everybody, our Father, god, we thank you today for these words. We thank you for this roadmap. We thank you for this Bible that you've given us your words, your exact words, the truth, and we thank you for that. I just ask you to open up the people's hearts and minds that's hearing this. Let them understand that they need to pick that Bible up, get it out of the closet, get it out of the drawers, dust it off and read it, and read it now, while we can. We need to.

Speaker 1:

Please let them understand and feel that we've got to get in this Word. People can just open up the Word and put somebody's name in it. That's what I've done. Please let these people understand that they need this Word Above any and all. They need this word. Please, please, lord, work with their hearts and their minds. Let these words go to the people that need to hear it. Let it go to the ears and the heart of the ones that need it. Lord, we thank you for this word, we thank you for this roadmap, we thank you for this guide. We thank you, we praise you, we honor you, we love you and we ask you to forgive us for all of our sins and help us and lead us and guide us. Help us to worship you and serve you in spirit and in truth. We ask these and all things in Jesus, holy name. We pray amen and amen.
