SPEAKER_01:Welcome to our program today, to our lesson in the Word of God. As I prayed for prayer requests the other night, the Lord put on my heart to tell everybody I could, do you dare to believe? The book of James says that when a man comes to the Lord in prayer, if he comes with doubt, he receives nothing. That we have to cast down doubt. And it a double-minded man maybe will, maybe won't. If he's double minded, he's unstable in all of his ways. The Spirit of God will stabilize your spirit, will fill you with Holy Ghost faith and power and belief that you can stand on. And me and Brother Abraham were talking about this, and some people knows what I'm talking about about the shekel O'Neill Icy Hot commercial where this fella is in pain and they they sh they make it like he's telling all of these runners to go toward the person in pain. We got one going on, he's a man in pain. Let's get to him. Well, it's the same way when the devil sees somebody that has a bad report or something they're trying to struggle through, and they're trying to have faith uh to handle that situation, and the devil says, Let's go, and his two allies, fa uh fear and doubt, comes running at that individual as hard as they can go. To strike down their faith and prevent them from getting from God what He has already promised us to have. Amen. Brother Grade.
SPEAKER_03:Amen. Yeah, the Bible calls the devil the enemy of our faith. You know, and um was a target of our faith, it's truth. That's the name of our podcast, Truth Talk. And uh a brother in our church that teaches a teen class, he uh just recently did a class, and uh the focus of it was deception. And he went in through that class, I sat in on it with him and everything, talking about the deception that's in the world. And when you get to thinking about it, it is staggering just how much falsehood, how much deceit, lies, delusion that is swirling around there everywhere. But the target of our faith is the word of God, which is truth. Here today in this dark world that we live in, as bad as it is, there's still one tested and true well of truth that you can go to. As we say back here in the mountains, uh you can take it to the bank.
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_03:Amen. It's died in the wall. We say those little sayings like that, amen. And that's the way the word of God is. Even Jesus himself says, I am the truth, amen. So uh that's that's what we're wanting to talk about today is having faith in that truth, uh, believing, and Brother Hubert said, do you dare to believe the truth? Amen. And uh not uh what we're talking about is not only accepting the truth, but it's a two-part thing. You gotta accept the truth, but you also gotta deny the lies. Amen. Turn your back on the untruth.
SPEAKER_01:I go to Isaiah 53. I believe the report of the Lord. And you look at how how long ago that was written, that that prophet spoke those words. And the first key to make sure that you put your keys in place, you must be born again.
SPEAKER_02:Amen.
SPEAKER_01:You can't be playing around in and out of church. I'm I'm do I'm good one day, I'm messed up the next day. If you're going to climb that mountain and stand on top of it in faith, we gotta put the pieces it together that we can get up there. That takes a total commitment to Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_02:Amen.
SPEAKER_01:And do we dare to believe the report of the Lord? I believe the report of the Lord. Amen. And sometimes the situation is incredibly bad. Uh a young lady at Corbin, I probably mentioned it before because it's a flat-out miracle. She was dying of cancer, had numerous tumors that they had found at UK and the exams, and they're not knowing what they can do if anything, according to what she told us. And we took prayer claws and we laid hands on her, and she said she believed, and her husband believed with her, and she goes off, they're gonna do exploratory surgery, and she's believing God to be there, and her life's on the line right then. When they opened that young lady up, there wasn't a tumor nowhere.
SPEAKER_03:Praise God.
SPEAKER_01:And I saw her back out on a basketball court playing pickleball the other day.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Now that was a pure torment to her and her husband, the situation she was in. But if you succumb to fear, it's impossible to have faith for the victory.
SPEAKER_03:Oh yeah. Yeah, you're becoming your own worst enemy. Yeah. You really are, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:It uh we talked about David when he had to go fight Goliath, or when he found out about all his older brothers and the whole Israeli army is sh shaking in their boots, that oh, they got a giant over there. David never said one time, how big is that giant? It don't matter how big that giant is, if the problem's cancer, if it's heart disease, if it's whatever.
SPEAKER_03:Amen.
SPEAKER_01:Jesus made this whole thing. He rose uh Lazarus from the dead, he he raised a lot of people from the dead.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:He told Martha, I am the resurrection and the life, and I believe it. He is. If I fall over dead right here, and he wants you to raise me up, up I come. Because he is all in all. Amen. He could have raised everybody in that graveyard if he wanted to. Praise God, amen. If we can reach that point, and and the Lord has impressed Jude on me in the last six months more than I ever imagined. And it's it's there again. Do you dare to believe? And it he said, I want to urge you to paraphrase it a little bit, to earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered under the saints. If we're going to earnestly contend, that means somebody is fighting us. And that would be the devil and his agents, those that represent him, them naysayers, they'll come around to hit on you and tear you down. He he'll make sure you get bad information. And the the devil has transformed himself into a minister of light, and he's standing before a TV camera or a microphone every day telling lies and discouraging people and telling them they can't do what God said they could do, and he knows good and well they can if we reach that plateau that he wants us to do. And I want to tell everybody, you can't say, I think as of tomorrow, I'm gonna wake up and be all faith. Faith is developed progressively. What you need to do is what James said in chapter four submit yourself to God and resist the devil and he'll flee and then draw nigh to God and he'll draw nigh to you, and you're starting to put the pieces together to be a man or woman of faith that will not be shaken off of their faith by no kind of report that comes their way. Brother Abraham.
SPEAKER_03:Amen. Absolutely. I like what you said about David there. That's the kind of faith that God wants and that I like really too. You know, uh people get in dire situations. Yeah, uh, I've known people that's lived like a devil all their life and disregarded God, not paid no attention to him at all, and they get some kind of bad diagnosis, or maybe even come to the uh their own mortality, the end of their life, yeah, and um suddenly they start crying out to God. Well, you know, I just want to say it's easy to do that. Yeah. When you're in trouble and you need help, uh, it's easy to holler out, oh, save me, Lord, save me, Lord. But uh the kind of faith that God uh desires from us is the kind that David had when he was talking there, you know. Uh like you said, the whole nation was shaken in their shoes. And if you read that story, he doesn't address the circumstances at all, uh any kind of fear and unbelief towards those circumstances at all. And uh uh all his confidence, all his faith is targeted at who God is and uh giving him the glory, you know, and uh uh the fact that he was uh this enemy Goliath was uh bringing shame you know uh to them and to the God that they served and stuff. So that's the kind of faith that that God wants from us, amen. It's not just hollering for help, it's I'm choosing to serve him and believe him in the good times and in the bad times.
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_03:I'm gonna trust him. Uh one person said it, let's see if I've got right here. Uh uh having faith in God uh is to live in such a way that uh his smile would be your greatest delight, and his frown would be your greatest dread.
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_03:You know, uh believe him in that regard, right there. But uh just a few little things about faith here. Uh you know, uh God gives us faith. When we hear the word of God, the Bible says faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. When someone hears the word of God, you know, uh uh uh they have a measure of faith that comes to them. Jesus told that wonderful parable, the parable of uh the sower. Amen. And uh it goes like this a sower went forth to sow, and when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside. Who was the sower? The sower was Jesus. Amen. His Holy Spirit, this very spirit of Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit, sowing those seeds of faith. He's throwing them out there. Even today in this dark world, he's throwing them out there. Amen. And um, what was those seeds? The seeds were faith. Amen. He's throwing that faith, the word of God, amen, and he's throwing it out there. And uh, of course, it says uh some fell on stony places, and uh they had not much earth, and forthwith they sprung up because they had no deepness of earth, and when the sun was up, they were scorched, because they had no root, and they withered away. Some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprung up and choked them. And he goes on to explain those thorns are the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches. So God gives us a measure of faith when we believe on his word, but it's up to us to make that faith grow. Amen. I don't want to tell you, as my brother Hubert says uh quite often and everything, you gotta have some backbone. Amen. Because uh in that same parable of the sower, he said some uh landed on shallow ground where there was uh no uh deepness of earth. And because that person didn't have any root in themselves, in other words, they didn't have no backbone, amen. They quick, because when tribulation or persecution arose because of the word's sake, they withered away, you know. So once we get that measure of faith, it's up to us to make it grow. And I'll just say this uh faith needs to grow, amen. And uh also your faith can fail.
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_03:Amen. Because he told Peter, uh, what did he tell uh uh Peter? Uh he said, Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. But then what did Jesus say? But I've prayed for you, Peter, that your faith don't fail. Amen. He said, and when you are converted, strengthen your brother. What was he saying by that? He's saying, I'm praying for you that in your test here that your faith don't fail. And when you get back on top, where you get to that place that you know that you know that you know, I want you to start looking to others that are going through a trial and start trying to lift their faith up. And that's the point of our podcast here today, is to encourage everyone. Do you dare to believe the word of God, the truth of the word of God. Anybody can I feel his presence. Anybody can live like this world is living. It don't take nobody special to follow after the lies of the world, the flesh, amen. I uh uh go out and get dog drunk, uh speak shameful words, hate one another, bite and devour one another. This is the ways of the world. Covet after the possessions of the world. That's as easy as falling off a log. That's humanity's following nature. But what God wants to know, amen, is do you dare to believe the truth?
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_03:Do you dare? Do you I'd like to say this uh to all uh the whole world. If I had a megaphone that the whole world could listen, I'd say, do you want the truth? Do you even care about the truth? Amen. And see that that all depends on where that seed of faith, the kind of ground that seed of faith is going to land on. That that that good ground that it lands on is somebody that cares, really cares about the truth and wants the truth in their life. Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_01:A lot of times we are going through a situation and we have become a microwave people. We think if we ask for something tonight, we ought to have it by in the morning.
SPEAKER_03:That's the truth. And that's a big detriment to our faith.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, and it just isn't that way. And I was explaining to one of our members the other day, I said, when you've put out that request that you're looking for God to move in, sometimes it involves other people, and he is working with those other people to put them where they need to be so that he can meet that thing that you've asked if it's a proper request. I mean, you can't just ask him for anything, but it's he's not just snapping his fingers, because he not only loves you, he loves them, he loves everybody involved, and his whole agenda that God has and the Lord Jesus Christ is that you will be saved.
SPEAKER_03:Come on, brother, amen.
SPEAKER_01:The primary mission of church is to get people saved. Because if they're not born again, and I use the term prayed through, when you get in the altar and pray, you don't say a Mickey Mouse prayer, you're laying it all on the line of full repentance, sincere, wide open, sincere prayer. Lord, I love you, I believe on you, I believe you were born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Ghost, crucified by the Jews, buried in a tomb, a borrowed tomb, rose on the third day, and was seen by everybody, ascended into heaven in the book of Acts, and he's on the right hand of the Father right now. And I'll tell you something else in Revelation chapter six, he is the man that'll open the seals. He is the man that's coming back wearing brass that will judge the world. But he's the man right now. It's kind of like the old story about the judge they made up, or it might have been true. This boy got out and uh broke the law, and the judge gave him a break. Or know what it was. I think he went in swimming where there was no swimming sign there not to go in. And he said, I'm gonna let you off. Well, he thought when he committed a crime a little later on, he'd let him off. That that sin would go. But when Jesus comes back, if you have broken the law of sin and you're caught in it, he is now your judge instead of your savior. And he will judge sin. But he's doing everything he can to deliver everybody from sin and get them under the blood of the Lamb. It don't make no difference how long you've been lost, what you've done, anything you have committed, any murders, homosexuality, whatever it is, adultery, you name it, he'll forgive you.
SPEAKER_03:Amen.
SPEAKER_01:If you haven't blasphemed the Holy Ghost, you can get in. And he's not willing that any would be lost. And as it states in Psalms 103, bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name, and forget not all his benefits. Not only are you getting forgiveness of your sins, but his benefit package will bless your home, will bless your marriage, will bless your children, will bless your workplace, will bless your health. He has a benefit package that can't be beat by nobody nowhere.
SPEAKER_03:Amen, brother.
SPEAKER_01:And when this thing's over with, he'll take you to heaven, and in his kingdom there shall be no end, and we shall rule and reign with him forever. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Do not turn this opportunity down. The fortune five hundred ain't got nothing compared to the Jesus I know. Amen. Hallelujah. Amen.
SPEAKER_03:I think that's the most, the biggest travesty of all in the world is that what people settle for and what they are refusing. The Bible says, taste and see that the Lord is good. It gives that invitation to anyone that's willing to taste and see, you know, and uh when someone starts tasting and they see just how good he is, and you start getting that love of God built up inside of you, and you look at others uh and you see just uh uh what they're settling for instead of God, and it bothers you. A lot of people think that as Christians are are judging and stuff, it's not judging at all. It's we have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, and because the love of God is being perfected inside of us, we care about you. When I was a sinner, I could care less what anybody else did. I was gonna do what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it, and if the fella down the street from me had five kids and wasn't able to fit feed them, it didn't matter a heel of beans to me. But when you taste and see the Lord is good, and that love of God starts getting built inside of you, you care about others and you want them to find the truth. You want them to get to that place to where they dare to believe the truth of God.
SPEAKER_01:Once you dare to believe and stand on God's word, you then confuse the enemy because he fully expects everybody to to bow down to doubt and fear. And and always remember, God does not bless you because he feels sorry for you. He blesses you and answers your prayer because you ask it in faith, believing. Do you dare believe? And so and a lot of times you're like Doc Renfro over at Norton, Virginia, who had gone down, I think, to 70 pounds. He was dying of cancer. They said, You don't have no shot, Doc, to go no longer. And he kept declaring that he dared to believe that the Lord would deliver him. And I went to his anniversary the 25th a couple of years ago over at Wise and got to speak with him, and and uh and I really loved that. And they showed a film of him going down to skin and bones and dying. And they took him to Johnson City on Christmas Eve, I believe they said, and they had a video of it, and they put him in a room and they said, Doc, we're gonna give you one shot to try to hold on this last day, and a bright light appeared in his room. That light was the same light that was in the fire with the Hebrew children, and Doc rose up out of that bed, a healed man, and come back. His body came back and was delivered from cancer right in front of everybody. And he's still preaching the gospel right now, and his testimony holds weight twenty-six years now or twenty-seven from that day. But he was pushed to the very last day, according to medical science. He's a medical doctor himself, but he's a more of a Christian than he is a doctor. Amen. And like Brother Abraham has told me before, the reality of the cancer that Doc had was very real. But the reality of Jesus is more real than the cancer. Amen.
SPEAKER_03:It's a greater reality.
SPEAKER_01:He is the name that's above all names, and you can name off every disease in this world, he's head of it. That he he's there is nothing that don't have to bow to Jesus. Right. The devil knows that. But he even challenged him. He said, if you be the Son of God, what do you mean if? He knew very well who he was. He came out of heaven, he was an archangel before he rebelled against God. But he will try you if you believe that, if this, if that, anything to discourage. Don't bite. Dare to believe the word of God and watch what the Lord does. The Hebrew children. He took them to the Jordan River ready to go in. Said, go in and take your possession. I don't know about that. I don't know. Well, take some spies and go over there and look at it. You didn't need to. He said, Go take it, go take it. Oh, come back. Oh, it's they're giant, they're like giants. We like grasshoppers, uh, we can't do nothing with them. Joshua and Cable and Caleb deser dared to believe. They said, Let's take it, we believe it. So all the naysayers who said we can't take it, they walked around the mountain for forty years till they all died. Then he raised up a new generation, and Joshua led them across the river and they took it. Right now, brothers and sisters, or sinner, if you're listening, you have the opportunity to take it, to dare and believe the Lord, and get your soul saved, get your body healed, get whatever you need done by daring to believe the Lord and standing on it, stand still and watch the Red Sea part. Amen. You can do it again.
SPEAKER_03:Amen, brother. Amen. Looks like we got about uh a minute and forty seconds left. So let's just sort of try to surmise here that what we've been talking about, too. Uh your testimony about Brother Tom Renfro getting his healing and stuff. That was someone that was a professed believer in God's word in Jesus Christ, and he got what he needed in time of need because of faith in Jesus Christ. And me and Brother Hubert were talking before our podcast that, you know, the way we obtain anything from the God that made us is through faith. We get saved by faith. Amen. And so you can go back to verses like in Isaiah's that says, All we like sheep are gone astray. And so can you mix faith with that? Can you dare to believe that that there's none righteous? No, not one. Out of all humanity, ain't none of us worth a flip. But I love the second part of that verse which says, God has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Amen. What's that saying? Christ took our sins to the cross. Can you dare to believe that? That Christ can take every bad thing that you've ever done and wash you clean? If you can, that's the beginning of a walk of faith. You're just starting to dare to believe because you're starting to walk. Apostle Paul said, we walk by faith, not by sight. Sinners and the whole world, how do they walk? They walk by sight. Seeing is believing, is what they say. Amen. But the the to the new life in Christ Jesus is a walk of faith. We walk by faith and not by sight. So do you dare to believe? Do you dare to believe in God's word and in Jesus Christ, amen. So, you know, uh, in him we have our being, we live and breathe and have our being. Amen. It's all wrapped up in him. Glory to God. And I just leave with that statement taste and see that the Lord is good. Taste and see that the Lord is good.
SPEAKER_04:Through the trumpet of Jesus. How well is the difference out?
