Bible Talk With Sister Deb. When God’s Patience Wears Thin And What That Means For You
We trace a clear line from God’s astounding mercy to his certain judgment, urging honest repentance and faithful living during this grace period. Stories from Noah to Israel reveal why delay is mercy, not approval, and why waiting to turn back is a dangerous gamble.
• God’s patience described as real but limited
• Noah’s era and the flood as a warning
• Sodom and Gomorrah and Abraham’s plea
• Moses’ reluctance and divine anger at excuses
• Israel’s rebellion and consequences in the wilderness
• 2 Peter 3:9 and the purpose of delay
• The thief on the cross and risky last-minute hope
• Urgent call to repent, obey, and share the gospel
• Prayer inviting listeners to surrender and seek God

SPEAKER_02:Praise the Lord, praise the Lord. So glad to be back here tonight talking about the word of God. But something I want to talk to you about today is uh I got a different diff a few different spots that that I'm going to talk about in the Bible. I've not got any one thing to tell you. So just try to follow along with me. Um I want to talk today about God's patience. Or more or less, God losing his patience. And I can think I if if I were God, I would have grown impatient with people like us a long time ago. And as I sit here and I think about the things going on all around me now in the world today, it it makes me sad. Because we live in a very twisted world, a world where everything is reversed. We we have dark substituted for light, we have evil substituted for good, bitterness for sweetness. I mean, people, aren't we glad that God is incredibly patient? But I do believe his patience does have limits. And I don't think his patience lasts forever. No, God's patience to me is lengthy, but it's not endless. God, with great patience, waited for repentance in the days of Noah. But his patience didn't last forever because the flood came. And in Genesis 6 and 3, God said, My spirit shall not always strive with man. He says, You know, paraphrasing the Lord, I won't do this forever. This is I'm not gonna listen to all this, and I'm gonna watch all this forever. Now he is a gracious and compassionate God, but he has his limits. He has his ends. Now God said in in Genesis 5 through 7, He said he saw how great the wickedness of the world the human race had become on earth. He said, The Lord regretted that he had even made human beings on the earth. His heart was deeply troubled. And so the Lord said, I will wipe out the human race that I created from the face of the earth with the animals, the birds, and the creatures that move along the ground. He said, I regret, for I have regret that I have made them. And then what happened? Everybody in the world drowned but eight people and two of each animal. Did God lose his patience? I believe so. Did God lose his patience with Sodom and Gomorrah? God's destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah shows us that although his patience with all the evil is real, it's limited. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were so evil, God decided to come down here himself and just check out what was going on. He he already knew, but he wanted to come and see for himself. And when God told Abraham, you know what, about his plans for the cities, Abraham's like, you know, he he he went to bat uh to God before he went to bat with God for Sodom and Gomorrah. He they threw these numbers around, they had a numbers game there for a while, and they finally, they finally agreed on ten righteous people. There was not ten righteous people, evidently apparently found in the cities. So see, God won't tolerate wickedness people. He will lose his patience. Uh and also another example is God's patience ran out with those people that that even love him and serve him. You know, God told Moses to go speak to Pharaoh, but Moses pleaded with God to send somebody else, and the Lord became very angry. You know, God uh He is tired of all of excuses, all of our excuses, His people's excuses. When we refuse to obey, He will lose His patience. He's going to get tired of it. And we must not mistake God's patience for His grace. Because a pe a person who continues to sin without judgment, you know, immediately falsely may assume that there's not going to be any consequences. But people, I'm telling you right now, it's kind of foolish to assume that the day of reckoning will not come. Because God's silence about sin does not mean that he approves. And playing games with God is not a very wise choice. Because we all know God never loses. We know he prevails. And I feel right now, people, that we are living in God's grace period. God has given us all, every single body, a chance. He's given us chance after chance actually to get things straightened out. And friends, God's patience is perfect. It's lasting. But it's not everlasting. God's patience has an expiration date. And my friends, I just want to ask you today, are you assuming that God has is going to keep having patience with you? Are you assuming that that you're going to have more time, that you can just have fun now and then get right with God later? If you are assuming that, I want to let you know that there's only one death, uh, there's only one deathbed conversion in Scripture that I can think of, that I can even, that I've even read about. There may be more, but I can only remember one. And that's the thief on the cross. And what I don't understand is why people want to uh gamble with that. See, the Lord's patience gives people time to get saved. The Bible says in Luke 13, 5, he said, Unless ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. See, God will not wait forever. People, before it's too late, and before our time comes to an end, we have to choose good over evil. We have to choose who we're going to serve. We have to serve and obey God and not our own self, not run after our own lust of the flesh. Friends, I'm telling you today, God is patiently waiting for people to repent. But one day, his patience will come to an end. One day. And I believe if we look all around us right now, we'll see that his patience is already wearing thin. And why people, we need to make sure that we are on the Lord's side. And let's serve him faithfully and diligently. Because his wrath will be poured out. When his patience with this cruel sinful world comes to an end, his wrath will be poured out. And I'm telling you again, this is our grace period right now. God gave us today. We don't know that he's going to give us tomorrow. We have no idea if we're he's going to grant us an hour from now, ten minutes from now, two hours from now, midnight. We don't know this, people. And I want you to just search and ask have you placed your trust in Jesus? Will you face wrath or glory? Will you face heaven or hell? And I want you to think about and answer that carefully to yourself, because your eternity depends on that. And listen at this. 2 Peter 3 and 9 says, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering to us word, not feeling, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. The Bible says all should come to repentance, not perish. People, God does not want us to perish. He does not want no one to perish. Hell, again, I've said this before, was not meant for any of us. And God, right now, to this day, is still giving people the time to repent and come to Christ. But I'm telling you right now, I feel this in my heart and soul. One of these days, the very last person's gonna repent. One of these days, the very one or ones that God's waiting on will come to Christ. And then what? He's gonna tell his son, step out on that cloud and go. And he's and the rest of everybody else is gonna be lost, people. There's nothing slow about God. There's nothing slow about him and how he works. There is a method to his madness. I love, I say that all the time. This delay in the second coming, people think that second coming of Christ, he's delaying, but it's not should be seen as failure, as failure to God to not keep his promise people, or as the as in being slow. Don't look at it that way. You need to be looking at it as an extension of his grace and his mercy and his patience. He's giving people the opportunity, the more opportunity, he's giving people more time. He could have come yesterday, he could have come, he could come in the next hour. We don't know this. People, our very breath equals God's patience. But there is gonna be a point in time when his patience will end and his judgment will come. And the only way to escape that sure and certain judgment is through faith in Jesus Christ. God will not allow sin to go unchecked in your life. You know, the thing about it is as Noah was building the ark, he was preaching, of course, too, but as Noah was building the ark and preaching, God gave people a hundred and twenty years to repent. Those eight people I think saved. God's patience with the Israelites in the wilderness, he had patience with them time and time again, time and time again. Their constant complaints and lack of faith finally prompt God to unleash his wrath upon them. They wouldn't listen to him. So thousands of them died on different occasions by plagues and snakes and swords and fire. The earth even opened up and swallowed some of them alive. Just read Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. You will see God losing his patience time and time again. And friends, God showed great patience from the very beginning of time. Look how patient he was with when Adam and Eve sinned. He told them that if you eat from the tree of knowledge, you will die. He said, Surely die. For the wages of sin is dead. He said, Surely die. But what did he do? He removed them from the garden, covered up their nakedness and their shame. They probably wish they were dead. But Genesis 5 tells us Adam lived 930 years. Genesis 5. And my friends, today I have personally, personally seen people get sick. So sick that I didn't think they were going to make it. And I prayed for them. And I've seen God heal these same people. I've seen God heal these people. And then I sat back and watched these people, as soon as they were up and about, they turned their back on the very one who healed them. People, he will lose his patience someday. And my friends here today, somebody needs to be listening to this. The world turns and things continue on as God sees fit. And all the while he's letting it all go. He's calling us. He's waiting. He's watching. He's giving a little bit more time for everybody that's gonna that for all the people to come who will come. But there's one thing that you need to hear and need to understand that God's word tells us he has made a day when he will judge the world through his son Jesus Christ. My friends, that's in Acts 17. And my friends, today, that is the point at which God's patience will have run out. And then what? Today God is patient patiently waiting for people to repent. But one day his patience is gonna come to an end. And those people who assume that God's always gonna have patience, you're gonna be mad sadly, sadly mistaken. He's waiting, so none will perish. Friends, God's patience is astounding, really. Because you know what? This is the one who greatly detests sin. All sin. He greatly detests sin, yet he shows all this great patience with all of us. He's waiting. It's waiting. And you see it every day in people's lives. He could cause immediate judgment for sin if he wanted to on each and everybody walking this earth. But he's showing great patience for everybody. I'm sure he gets fired up. I'm sure he does. But the day's gonna come when he's had enough. He's been patient and patient and patient. And then one day he's gonna say, I've had enough. He has mercy and mercy and more mercy. And then one day he's gonna say enough. He forgives, he forgives and forgives. He tells us while he's forgiving, he tells us in Matthew 11, Come unto me all you that are labor, and I will give you rest. He said, He that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out in John 6. So God's saying today, people, please come, come to me. I've had enough. My patience is wearing thin. There is a limit. Because suddenly, one of these days, suddenly without warning, we're gonna wake up and there's gonna be weeping and nail wailing and gnashing of teeth. Friends, he's giving you the opportunity. Because his patience is not infinite. He is patient, but eventually, if he if we continue in unrepentant sin, his patience will end. You know, his patience is amazing. Amazing. Like I said, after guard after Adam and Eve in the garden sin, he he had Adam lived a hundred nine hundred and thirty-something years. Wow, that's amazing, amazing patience. You know? Because of God's love today, people, he has patience with people who are rebellious. And today God is patiently waiting for people to repent. Because one day his patience will come to an end. And those people who want to assume that God's always going to be patient, like I said, it you're going to be sadly mistaken. And you're going to be greatly surprised on that day when the Lord returns in clouds with vengeance. You know? Friends, I'm telling you today, you know, Israel, the people of Israel refused to believe God's message. They instead they focused on their own condition, their own weakness. You know, they they s they gave they gave in to their own fears. And after a time when God ran out of patience with them, and even said to Moses, How long would these people reject me? How long would they reject me and not believe me? When all the signs that I re performed in front of these people, all the stuff that I've showed them, how long? And God said in Numbers 14, I'll I will strike them with pestilence and disinherit them. Did he lose his patience? I do believe he did. And when we refuse again and again to accept how much he loves us and how much he wants to help to help us, and we we uh just just just don't accept what he wants to do for us, he will lose his patience with us too. You know, friends, I'm telling you, please, we need to make sure, again, that we're on the Lord's side. And when that day comes, and and when that day comes, and and you know, he brings his wrath, it won't be poured out on us because when when his patience with this world comes to an end, we're gonna know it. We're gonna know it. And in closing, I'm gonna close with this. I want you to think about where you stand with God. Is he your Savior? Or are you relying on something else or uh someone else to get you into heaven? People, God's word clearly tells us that there's no other way except to place your faith in Jesus Christ. And I know out there today there are people that don't want to hear this, uh, but they're only hope. It's the only hope for this lost and dying world. And if you don't know Jesus, then you have no hope. He's the only hope. And he is waiting. And he's waiting. And he's giving he's also giving Christ followers more opportunity to spread the word, uh, to worship God, to rejoice in his grace. He's given sinners time to open up their hearts and their minds to him with great pro great, great patience. And friends, today we all need to be sharing the gospel to this world in dire need of it. And I urge everybody today to spend some time today in prayer and ask God to help us to never, ever take his patience for granted. Never take his patience for granted. Because one of these days, he is going to lose his patience. His patience is going to run out with this sinful world. And he's gonna say, I've had enough. He's gonna say I had enough. And he loves us today. He loves us. Now he may shake his head a lot, especially at me. He may shake his head at us, but he loves us. And friends, I hope and pray that this has uh blessed you as much as it's blessed me to bring it to you. I hope and pray that you have have heard what I've said here today and understand. Please don't take advantage and granted God's patience. Because one of these days they are gonna run out. It's in his word of God. They've his patience ran out numerous, numerous times in the word of God. He wasn't lying then, and he's not lying now. He's not lying. His patience is going to wear out. So I'm gonna close this with a prayer. Our Father God in heaven, I ask you, Lord, to let each and everyone listening to this, each and everyone in the sound of my voice, let these people open up their hearts and their minds and their ears to understand, God, what they need to do. Show their, put it in their hearts, Lord, that they need to give their life to you, that they need to get up, get up and open that book, open that word of God and start work, start reading in your word. They need to give their life to you. They need to get on fire, Lord, because your patience will run out one of these days with this sinful world. I just ask you to bless each and every one of people that's listening to this today. Open up their hearts, Lord. Open up their minds. Put this on their hearts, this burning fire, the burning fire, Lord, to serve you and to worship you. Put it on these, if their sinners listen to this today, let them understand and hear what the Spirit is saying to their heart, that they need to be ready. They need to open up themselves to you, Lord, and be ready because your patience is running thin. Let these people see it and let them feel it. Lord, we praise you. We thank you. We thank you for your grace. We thank you, Lord, for your peace and your comfort that you give each and every one of us that only you can give. We thank you. We thank you for your patience that you have had with us so far, because we know, Lord, what you can do. We know you could have done a lot more anytime. We know this. But we thank you for everything that you've given us. Lord, we praise you today. We honor you, we love you, and we ask these and all things. In Jesus' holy sweet name, we pray today. Amen and amen. God bless everybody.
