SPEAKER_02:

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. I love that song. When I hear that, I just want to dance all over the room. Just want to dance all over the room. So hello everybody. Welcome to Bible Talk. I'm going to do some things just a little bit different tonight. I didn't uh well I did prepare uh a message for today, but the Lord has laid it on my uh my heart and my mind to do something a little bit different. And so uh uh so I will start next week back with with the regular messages. Um so with that being said, guess what? I have invited Brother JD to help us to be with us today. So brother JD is in the house.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes, I'm here. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. It's good to be here. I ain't been on your show in a while.

SPEAKER_02:

No, I know. I I I miss this too, man.

SPEAKER_00:

Glory to God. Praise the Lord.

SPEAKER_02:

So let's let's make it a good one, man.

SPEAKER_00:

What do you want to talk about today?

SPEAKER_02:

I want to talk about in light of Thursday. Let's talk about Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_00:

Turkey Day. Oh no, Thanksgiving. Let's talk about Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_02:

Um You know, I like Thanksgiving. I'm I like all the food and the festivities, and you know, in in just a couple of days, everybody's gonna most people anyway are going to uh gather around the table and it's gonna be full of this and that and all kinds of food. And uh, you know, I love a big old fat piece of turkey, I ain't gonna lie.

SPEAKER_00:

I think Thanksgiving to me is just more like it's the gathering. Right. This is true. You know, people put aside all their differences. I know sometimes it don't happen, but right, you know, for the majority of the part, for a few hours everybody puts aside their differences. Right, right. And they they commune with each other, and I think of all the holidays that we have, Thanksgiving is probably one of my favorites. Even as when I was not in church, even Thanksgiving still then was my favorite. Right, right.

SPEAKER_02:

But you know, I I think about all the times, you know, when we would all gather at at my Aunt Lou's house and my all of my all my uncles and and and people and my aunts and stuff were there, and it was just one, you know, big, huge to-do. Man, it was just awesome. And right. And and now, you know, most of those people are gone, and um, it's just it it's just crazy how it all dwindles down over the years.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, and that's the way life is. It you know, it it it comes and it goes, it's day to day, and it's a sad thing. Your family members are like that, they're here one day and then they're gone the next, and and I think we need to take in light, you know, they're that they're with us and we need to um we need to take advantage of that because right if you're not saved and they're saved, then there's a separation there between you both. Right. When you know, and and see we have that when we're we're both saved, we'll say me and my mom. I have that reunion coming with my mom, my grandmother, and my uncles. And and I look forward to that Thanksgiving day in heaven. Thanks for having me.

SPEAKER_02:

But you know, I I uh brother, I'm thinking right now what I'm thinking is you know what one of the dangers of Christianity today is to take the blessings of God for granted.

SPEAKER_00:

That's true, yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, we we uh you know we've gotten so accustomed to our blessings from God that we that we don't we don't thank him like we should.

SPEAKER_00:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay, like okay, say this example. If you see the stars outside, if the stars were only gonna shine once a year, check this out, man. And maybe see if I'm going this way. If the stars only shine once a year, one day out of the night, one night out of the year, the stars would only shine. We could only see them one night out of the year. We'd all stay up all night trying to see them stars.

SPEAKER_00:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

And you know, the heavens and the stars, God's creation is beautiful, man, beautiful. And if and if we knew they were only gonna be out one night a year, we'd all probably pitch tents somewhere at their lake waiting to see the stars.

SPEAKER_00:

But you know what's crazy? They're they're out every night.

SPEAKER_02:

That's my next thing. Yeah, we see these stars so often that we don't even think about standing outside on the porch and looking up.

SPEAKER_00:

Well, I'm glad you said that. I mean, I here lately, for last year, I've been I go out on my porch. I take my dog out to do his business, and I go out there and I look at look up and I say, Thank you, God, for loving me see your stars at least one more time. Right. But here lately, in the last six months, I've noticed that when I walk out, I can't see the stars.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_00:

And I'm like, Oh, well, thank you, Lord. And then all of a sudden, poof, they start appearing. Right. And then I wrote something down just the other day. You had said that, you know, I said, Walking with God, I got it wrote down here. So uh walking with God is like walking out on your porch in the dark and looking up and only seeing a few stars or no stars at all. Right. And and then all of a sudden you see all the stars. Right. Then the more you walk with the Lord, the more you see him.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_00:

And and you know, because if you ever walked out on your porch after you've been in your living room and it's bright, and you walk outside and it's dark, your eyes has got to adjust to that. And and I and I and I it that's what I've been doing is walking out on my porch and thanking God for just one more day. Thank you for allowing me to see the stars one more day.

SPEAKER_02:

See, that's that's that was my thing behind bringing this up. When we the stars are there every night.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, uh my cousin Kathy lives next door to me, and um and there's times that I'll I'll look outside or I'll walk out on my porch and she's standing outside just looking up at the sky. Yeah, right. You know. Uh and I mean I I mean I love looking at the stars. I mean, she was trying to show me one night the big dipper and the little dipper, and I mean I just I never could see it that much. I mean, I'm sure it's there. She says it's there. Uh but we go we get so accustomed to them stars being there that we don't stop and just look up and say, Wow, man, how pretty that is. And and to me, brother, that's how we do with the blessings from God. Yeah. That we we get so accustomed to the things that He gives us that we don't stop in the run of one day and say, Lord, thank you. Thank you for for everything. And I don't know, you know, how other people feel, but I'm gonna tell you what. When I wake up in the morning, I thank the Lord for the roof over my head, I thank him for the food on my table, my vehicle that I drive, I thank him for the food I eat. Right. I mean, I thank him for the very day, the very steps, my breath, every everything that I could possibly think of, I try to thank him for it.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

And I and I I'm gonna tell you how I got to doing that. I read something not too long ago, and it's been quite a while ago, and I think I've got it written down on a page somewhere, something in my Bible, somewhere wrote down.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And it it was a question, and it said, if you woke up tomorrow with everything that you thank God for tonight, would you be okay? If you woke up tomorrow with everything that that you thank God, that you've literally spoken to God and said, Thank you, Lord, for this and this and this, would you be okay? Would you be in good shape? What what kind of shape would you be in? And I saw that and I thought, now, personally speaking, and I'm not trying to brag on me, but I try to thank God for every single step that I take, every breath I take. I I try to, you know, I don't do I do it every single day. I try every single day, at least once a day, thanking God for everything.

SPEAKER_00:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

And you know, I may not do it over and over and over like I should.

SPEAKER_00:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

But that's what I mean by we we just we take that stuff for granted.

SPEAKER_00:

We do.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, we shouldn't just wait till Thanksgiving day.

SPEAKER_00:

I've been praying for the contentment of God in my life, to be thankful for what I just have.

unknown:

I know, I know.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, you know, and I'm and I am, I'm thankful for everything. I'm not a materialistic person. I'm really not. Uh and and you know, when God blesses us, brother, we need to be thankful. If it's just if I'm if I'm just sitting on my porch and this beautiful bird uh lights on my porch and sings me a little old song like Tweety Bird or something, I should be thankful for that because to me that's a blessing from the Lord.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes, it is. You know, it is a blessing.

SPEAKER_02:

But I guess it's just according to how people take it. You know what I mean? Maybe it does everybody think about it the way I do? I mean we we just we we we we get caught up, we get so caught up in the humdrum and and the realities of every day that we don't thank God for yesterday and if we can all get into that same mindset for tomorrow.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, we can all get into that same mindset, we would probably see a greater move of God in the church in itself, in the body of Christ. So I think we should all think that way. Right. I think we should all think because if there's any that's diverse from the body, it causes strife in the body, you know, and then when we we see our brothers and sisters down and not in that thankful mood, right? We should go over there and teach them how to be thankful. Right. You know, in Psalms 100 it says make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Amen. You know, how do we we we don't have to say thank you, Lord, all the time. There's other ways to give God thanks. Right. Lord just says right there in Psalms 100, make a joyful noise unto the Lord.

SPEAKER_02:

And see, that's that's the thing that you that's the funny thing you brought it up because my notes here, I've wrote Psalms 104, enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise. Yes. Be thankful unto him and bless his name. Yes. I mean, I just I it just gets me that I I don't know, I guess it just gets me that we actually talk up big this one day a year.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. And it should be an it should be a 365-day thing. It should. It really should. Uh I think we should also, you know, and there's nothing wrong with one day out of the year paying homage, you know, to in and coming together and you know, because Christ tells us, you know, in the Bible, there's certain things that we we should do, and we should do it often, you know, like communion and and and some other things. But I think in Thanksgiving in in in in a whole, we should be thankful every day that we wake up that God's mercy is upon us. You know, his grace and his mercy, and thank God for giving his only begotten son. Right that whosoever believeth on him shall not perish. Amen, brother. You know, have everlasting life. That right there is probably one of the biggest thanks in my life. Right.

SPEAKER_02:

And see that and see, like it's just like thinking on up into Christmas. You know, we we put this this big thing on uh, you know, uh Mary wrapping him in swallowing clothes and laid him in a manger, blah, blah, blah. You know, the whole Christmas story, and it's awesome, awesome story. I love that. I I love that those those stories there, and but that's another time that we need to be thankful too. We need to be thankful that God gave us his only begotten son, that he he let him be there because Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

Um talking about others, you know, talking about Christmas and other holidays. That that that really that's one of those little things that gets to me because we've lost and we've heard it preached, you know, probably a hundred hours. Yeah, I don't know. We've heard it preached a million times, you know. We've we've lost the true meaning of Christmas. We have. And I think we've lost the true meaning of Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_02:

Definitely.

SPEAKER_00:

You know, I think so. Don't get me wrong. I love sitting around the table, you know, having a really nice pumpkin pie. That's one of my favorite. But and and turkey. And but and dressing. I could go on, but to be thankful that I have what little bit I have in my life, what little bit of family that I do have in my life, because they're it's sad to say, I have a lot of family that I don't talk to no more.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_00:

Because of strife and because of uh div division in our family, and we might have long forgot reason why we've divided. We now we're just at the point that we just don't commune with each other no more. And and I think a a lot of us are walk with God also. If we stop giving thanks and we start communing with God, then eventually we're gonna find ourselves so separated we're not gonna know how to talk to God. Right. And then, you know, it leads to backsliding, it leads to other things.

SPEAKER_02:

Amen, brother. Amen. You know, uh Ephesians 20, Ephesians 5 20 says, give thanks always uh for things, for all things unto God.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

First Thessalonians five and eighteen says, If in everything, give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

SPEAKER_00:

Amen.

SPEAKER_02:

We should give thanks for everything. I mean, the roof over our head, the food on our table. I especially, above any and all, I try to tell the Lord, especially I'll say, God, especially thank you.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

For one for salvation.

unknown:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

For another, thank you for giving your son the die on the cross so that we could all live.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, that was that's two of the biggest blessings we could ever get right there, salvation.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

And and his son the die on the cross for us. Yes. You know, and and I just seem to think that I just feel that we I just don't feel that we thank him enough. I don't feel uh I don't feel that society as a whole tries to thank him enough.

SPEAKER_00:

Well we're getting down to that, we're getting further down that thankfulness. I can't even say it. Not being thankful road. The further we get down that road, the further we get from Christ and and his true meaning of who he is. Right. And and and I don't I don't want to say it, but it's the truth. And that's how we know that the times of, you know, our times is dwindling down here on earth is because we see that all we're seeing now on on any network, you know, broadcast or whatever it is, you know, social media, is all people want to hear is strife. They want to hear who got who and who did who and you know who who's uh whose name's on the list. I don't care no more. You know, I used be truthful, I'll be the first one to tell you. I used to care. I want to know who's on the list, right? You know, but now my my business is more business of the Lord and being about the Father's business and being thankful for everything that he has given me. And I'm thankful for that, that he has turned my life around almost, he has turned my life down a 360 degree to where everything in my life is a tool for God, and I am so thankful for that.

SPEAKER_02:

Amen. That's like me, you know. I I try to sit back and I think I try to thank the Lord for uh some of the people that he has placed in my life, you know, like you and and and uh Sister Jen and I just I just I thank the Lord for these people that are such an influence uh on me. And and there's there's others. I mean I I couldn't just count all of them. There's so many people that I thank right now, I thank God for that's in my life that's such an influence on me, that holds me up in prayer, and uh, you know, and and you know, when you're going through things, it's such a blessing to have these people that God has placed in your life.

SPEAKER_00:

You've been with me almost from the beginning. Be truthful, and and I'm very thankful for it.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_00:

You know, and I started off, you know, by myself on this show. I started the whole program, the whole thing, you know, the whole podcast by itself. And uh you came along. And I have other people now that, you know, is involved with it through the church. And I'm thankful for that. I'm thankful for God putting people in my life, you know, that that because it keeps me going. That's how the body works. You know, you can't have one missing toe and expect to walk right.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_00:

It's the truth. You know, all the limbs of the body's gotta work together.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_00:

And um and I'm thank God for you in my life.

SPEAKER_02:

Right.

SPEAKER_00:

You know, I d because without it I wouldn't be able to well, I probably could have, they but but because you said yes to God, we work good. A well-oiled machine. Right, you know, and that's the way it should work.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, you know, and I I thank the Lord that he I thank the Lord that he lets me use his ministry. It's not my ministry.

SPEAKER_00:

No, I understand.

SPEAKER_02:

It's his and and I thank him for for Bible talk and and be it that I can able that I'm able to come in here and sit down and and you know and get his word out there to the best that I can. Uh I just I just thank him for everything. I I thank him for you know saving my soul. There was a point in time in my life, years ago when I was a teenager, that the Lord healed me of really bad headaches. I don't know what it was, but I was having really bad headaches. And and there was a man who came to church and the Lord just healed me. Right. So there's so many things over and over and over in my life that I thank him for every day. And and I just want to try to get it out there to people to know that you know what, we have to thank God no matter what, people.

SPEAKER_00:

We do.

SPEAKER_02:

You know, we we need to thank him for everything that we do, every step we take, every breath we take.

SPEAKER_00:

And there's many ways, like I said, to thankful. One is to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, the other is to follow his commandments, because he says, if you love me, you'll obey me. Amen, brother. And you really want to show God that you really are thankful for everything that he has done. Now, I'm not gonna say you will mess up. We've all sinned and we've all fallen short of the glory of God. You know, um, you know, I was just talking to Deb before we started the broadcast, before we started recording. You know, there's things in my life that you know I still deal with, you know, and um we even read about it with Paul saying, Lord, please remove this thorn from my flesh. We're gonna we're gonna fail God. But see, God's mercy, you know, He He forgives. And that's the blessing that is so thankful that He forgives us.

SPEAKER_02:

Amen.

SPEAKER_00:

But see, not even forgiveness, He says He casts it as far as the east is to the West to remember it no more. He forgets our sins. Because see, I was just ministering to Deb, telling her how the Lord has been dealing with me about trying to forget the things in my life, because that's hard to forget that somebody's done me wrong, you know, and I forgive them with my whole heart. I know I do, and the Lord knows it. But the Lord says, James, you gotta also forget. So I'm thankful for the Lord teaching me that. So uh yeah, God is so good.

SPEAKER_02:

He is, and you know, uh I just I just want to tell everybody, you know, to to be thankful unto him every day. Yes, not just not just remembering it one day a week or one day a year or or one day a month, not just oh wow, you know, I forgot to do and I forgot I you know we have to be thankful to him.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

I mean, James, he gives us everything we need. Yes. You know, I I sit and I think about the children of Israel, how uh, you know, they're on their journey. Yes, on their journey through, you know, uh he gave them everything they needed, yes, and they were still, you know, thankful at all for it. But I'm telling y'all here today, I thank the Lord.

SPEAKER_00:

I do.

SPEAKER_02:

I thank the Lord for everything that he has given me, and I praise him and honor him. Brother, I thank you for being here today on Bible Talk. We need to do this more often. Yes. Uh come up with with something we can do more often on this, because I really miss us doing this together.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

And uh anyway, I just want to tell everybody.

SPEAKER_00:

We come up with an extra show.

SPEAKER_02:

Right, right.

SPEAKER_00:

So that way we don't have to be like uh because we're uh tight on time, you know, because uh you know, if uh you're new to the show, you know, her show's aired on our local FM and uh FM and AM radio station. Right on Sundays at four, uh I think it was WTUK 105.1. Yes, yes, yes. And um and see why I'm thankful for that.

SPEAKER_02:

I know that's a blessing.

SPEAKER_00:

God opened the doors for that. And uh and if we are thankful, that reminds me, and if we are thankful, and we do and we follow God, by being thankful, God's gonna keep pouring stuff upon us.

SPEAKER_02:

Amen, brother.

SPEAKER_00:

I mean, I'm not talking about material vain things. He's gonna open doors.

SPEAKER_02:

Amen.

SPEAKER_00:

He's gonna close doors, and he's gonna answer prayers, and he's gonna say, I'm not gonna answer that prayer. He's done that for me, and I thank God for it because some prayers I'll be like, Thank you, God. Right. That you didn't answer them because where would I be at? There's so much to be thankful for, though.

SPEAKER_02:

Yes, and and I my closing words to everybody is you know what, guys, have a very, very happy Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_00:

Right.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh, you know, eat a lot, pray a lot, be thankful to the Lord.

SPEAKER_00:

Commune with your family.

SPEAKER_02:

And everybody, please do it safely.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

Brother, brother, you got some parting words.

SPEAKER_00:

Jesus loves you. Amen. Be thankful for that. Amen. Amen. Be thankful for God gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him shall not perish, but should have everlasting life. Amen. See, all you have to do is call upon the name of the Lord, and you shall be saved. Amen. And what is the name of the Lord? His name is Jesus. And uh that's why God gave us his son, so we have somebody to fall back on.

SPEAKER_02:

And see you know what, he's our only hope.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, and see, and I'm thankful for Christ because when he departed you know from the apostles, he gave us his spirit, him and his father's spirit. I am so thankful for the Holy Ghost, because the Holy Ghost is the comforter, you know, the schoolmaster, the teacher, and he guides me wherever I go and teaches me everything that I need to know, opens those doors and teaches me the knowledge and the understanding of God. Amen, brother. I'm so thankful for it.

SPEAKER_02:

All right.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes.

SPEAKER_02:

Thank you for being here, man.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, it's it's great.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh thank you.

SPEAKER_00:

You got big plans for Thanksgiving.

SPEAKER_02:

Uh I'm gonna eat a lot at a couple different places, pretty much. That's about it.

SPEAKER_00:

Well, I've I've we're uh if if you catch this show before Thanksgiving, hopefully you will, I don't know, but uh we are um we're having a dinner out in Everett's uh next to the clinic at the lodge. Uh Shonda Middleton will be uh hosting the dinner and it's free for everybody that wants to come. So it don't matter if you're homeless or not, you ain't got nowhere to eat, come and join us.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, amen.

SPEAKER_00:

We're gonna help the serve, serve. That's awesome. That's what it's all about.

SPEAKER_02:

That's awesome. Well, thank you for your service, man. And and with the public, I mean.

SPEAKER_00:

Well, no, it it's it's uh it's a thing. I don't want to, you know, it's it's more than it's a it's my duty. It's what God has called me to do.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, amen.

SPEAKER_00:

And I I can't, you know, I don't want to I just want to be as humble as I can about it because it's something that God's put in my life that I'm able to do, so I want to be a part of it, and I'm thankful for that.

SPEAKER_02:

Amen, brother.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, it's the thankful show.

SPEAKER_02:

That's it. That's it. And I hope and pray we have blessed everybody as much as it's blessed us to to bring this to people. And I do want us to do this again, you know, have a have another show pretty good like this. That's all.

SPEAKER_00:

I'll tell you, Sister Deba, if you would end us in prayer.

SPEAKER_02:

I sure will. Our Father God, we thank you, Lord, for each and every blessing that you bestowed upon us. We thank you, Lord, for the roof over our heads, the food on our table. We thank you, Lord, for the greatest sacrifice of giving your son to die on the cross so that we could all live. We thank you, Lord, for salvation in every breath we take, in every step we take. We thank you for so, so many things, Lord. And I ask you to just let these people that hear our broadcast here today, that hear your words that you've put in our heart today, that they'll be thankful too, that they'll be able to look and pray and say thank you for everything, Lord, and bless these people, bless each and everybody. We thank you, Lord, for everything. For we ask these in all things in Jesus' holy sweet name we pray. Amen. God bless everybody.
