421 Show
Finding Peace When You Feel Alone
Joyful seasons can sharpen quiet pain. We open the door to those heavy rooms and talk honestly about loneliness, bitterness, and the pressure of bills and memories that won’t let up, then walk toward the peace that starts when we finally break open before God. With Scripture as our compass and lived stories as our proof, we explore how faith steadies you in the storm, why church family can feel closer than blood, and how real surrender turns self‑pity into strength.
You’ll hear a vivid testimony of provision: a business on the brink, a simple prayer at a cluttered desk, and an unexpected call that changed everything. We trace the pattern in 2 Corinthians—troubled yet not distressed, cast down yet not destroyed—and show how praise in pain guards the heart. We share how long, honest prayer at night can shift more than circumstances; it can lift your countenance before any evidence arrives. Hannah’s story becomes our mirror: misunderstood by others, she poured out her soul, made a costly vow, and found peace before the promise took shape.
If you’ve been fighting bitterness, nursing private grief, or measuring your worth by money, likes, or approval, this conversation invites you to a truer center. God’s presence can feel like liquid love, reordering what matters even when nothing outside changes. Your value was set at the cross. Your future rests in hands that do not fail. Join us as we lean into praise when it hurts, practice prayer that lingers, and remember that “whosoever” still means you. If this encouraged you, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review to help others find their way here.
I would like to welcome everyone to the show enjoy and God bless everyone.
Welcome here listening to Truth Talk. Truth Talk will be airing every third week of the month. Visit our website for the latest content and information.buzzsprout.com. Now I'll give you your host, Givers Taylor. Greg Abraham.
SPEAKER_02:His melody of love calls you to be great when Mark and Tower.
SPEAKER_01:Lots of blessing to everybody that that's that's tuned in. Uh I I pray that you are anxious to hear the truth about the Lord and what's going on right now. The Lord laid it on my heart that this is a time, obviously, of celebrating the birth of our Savior, which if if he hadn't done that, we'd be in a whole lot of trouble. Amen. Uh it's impossible for the blood of bulls and goats and and animals to to redeem mankind. But we also know that there are widows, there are people who live alone, there are people who are not saved and do not know the Lord, and they really don't know where to find comfort that would keep them from being oppressed and depressed at a time and a season of celebrating a new year and celebrating the birth of Christ. And I want everybody to know that if you do not know Jesus, not only can you repent of your sins and be born again and become an heir and joint heir of heaven with our Lord and Savior, but you then when you get yourself in a good home church that preaches the word of God, then you inherit on this earth a family in your church. And it seems to me like in many occasions the church family loves you and cares for you more than your blood family. Yeah. We we're actually blood family by the blood of the Lamb that puts everybody together. We got the real blood going on.
SPEAKER_03:Yes, sir. Amen.
SPEAKER_01:And he told them, he said the first and second commandment uh goes hand in hand. You love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, body, and soul and strength. Then, number two, you love one another. We love one another. We love you, or we wouldn't even be doing this. We'd say, well, just let them go on to hell. Nobody wants nobody to go to hell. Jesus doesn't want nobody to go to hell, and he does not want you to be depressed and beat down and troubled and vexed. He he can bring you a peace beyond understanding. He will touch your heart, he will lift your head, the joy of the Lord will become your strength, and you'll know a world that you have never known before, and it's fabulous, brother Abraham.
SPEAKER_03:Amen. Absolutely. When uh you come to Christ and you become reconciled with the God that made you. Uh to be honest with you, it's hard for me to paint a picture for you, uh, to describe in words. It's hard for me to find the words uh what it feels like when you become reconciled with God. Uh uh, I've often described it as liquid love. Amen. And I feel like somebody's pouring liquid, concentrated love all over me, you know. Um, but uh we particularly wanted to focus in today on uh those people that are hurting, uh, that are are are brokenhearted for whatever reason and and feel destitute, abandoned. Nobody loves them. It's the time of year, you know, it's supposed to be uh joy to the world, you know, and all that, and merriment and happiness and stuff like that right there. But there's people out there that are hurting. But it remains still to say that Christ is the antidote for every situation, Brother Hubert. He is the remedy for whatever situ everybody's got their own story, their own plight. Uh a lot of people I know of uh uh uh hold on to bitterness. I know some people that's really just up against it, you know, and in a pitiful situation and set of circumstances, uh but you know, deeper than than the physical things, the deficits that's going on in their life, uh a lot of times that there's something deeper that's causing it all, you know. It could be bitterness against somebody, you know. But but again, when when you when you break open, you gotta break open as is what you gotta do. For for God to come into you uh and move for you and lift your spirits and pull you. What's that the song we used to sing? God reached way below the bottom for me. You know, and we've all got our stories of what our bottom looked like and how bad our bottom was and stuff, and how Christ pulled us out of there. But it starts with cr with a brokenness in our spirit and actually crying out to him in faith. Amen. Brother Hubert.
SPEAKER_01:I wish that I could tell people who are lost that you'd be in a rose garden when you got saved, and you wouldn't have any further trouble, and you wouldn't be cast down or aggravated, but that wouldn't be true.
SPEAKER_03:No, no.
SPEAKER_01:Even though you're born again and you've got the Lord there with you, things in this world will trouble you. But we hold fast by what we believe. Yes. Because he will never leave us nor forsake us. You may look around and say, Lord, where are you? He's right there. Make no mistake about it, he's right there. I'm gonna read a little scripture that backs this up. We have but we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed. We are perplexed but not in despair, persecuted but not forsaken, cast down but not destroyed. Hallelujah, amen. For we walk by faith and not by sight. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Wherefore we labor that whether present or absent we may be accepted of him for we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done in his body according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
SPEAKER_03:Amen.
SPEAKER_01:And David said that he laid in his bed and meditated upon the Lord, upon God, and how the Lord was always there for him. And I have brought that into my life when I lay down. And actually he's led me to develop a prayer time that may go on for hours in the night. He seems he he wants that, and if you're in the habit of praying these little five-minute prayers and these little quickies when you go to bed and kind of cutting the Lord short on time, settle down and talk to him just like he was your earthly father, sitting there at the desk with you, and lay it all on the table and see what the Lord can do. Brother Abraham.
SPEAKER_03:Amen, my brother. So true and stuff. It's it's that about that yielding to him. Uh I'm I'm reminded of um, you know, w we always think that uh uh that everything's gotta line up perfect on the outside before we could be lifted up. Yeah, it's not exactly the way it is in God and stuff. Um I reminded of a fellow one time that went into the church house and just low as low could be, uh lots of financial burdens up on them. Yeah. And uh the Spirit of the Lord, the manifest presence of God, showed up in that church service that night.
SPEAKER_01:Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_03:And he came out the doors walking on cloud night.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And he said, you know what? He said, I still got the same bills, I still got the same responsibilities. They just don't mean as much to me. Amen. Amen. Not that, you know, not that uh those bills and everything have become not important, but God's presence, that realization of God's love towards him, brings that soothing balm of everything's gonna be all right. Amen. So, you know, don't think that, well, this has to be uh uh took care of and removed from my life, you know, before I can be happy. Hey, but one thing that that needs to be done. And and uh uh uh I love the scripture, he said, except the corn of wheat, fall on the ground and die. Yes, it remains alone. But if it falls on the ground and breaks open, hallelujah, then it'll bring forth much fruit, much fruit in their self first, and then much fruit to others as well. And another person I'm I'm recollecting a story of a guy I used to work with and reached out to him about the goodness of the Lord day in and day out while we were working together and stuff, and I could tell he was just patronizing me. Yeah, you know, he's just throwing me a bone, so to speak, you know, and acting like he'd understood and all that. And all the while, brother Hubert, his life was going down, down, down. More troubles, more problems in his life, and him still refusing uh to break open and turn to God. It got so bad that he was living in an abandoned trailer in the middle of a cold winter with the wind that's broke out, walking uh for well over a mile to get kerosene to keep a little heater going and stuff. And uh, you know, sometimes a lot of times people come up and say, Oh, pray for this person in this kind of situation or that kind of situation. And uh it's God, you gotta be careful because a lot of times it's through our adversity that God turns us towards the truth and away from all this deception that the world feeds us and stuff. And that truth, one of the most powerful part of it is that we need Him. We have to have Him, amen. And and He He wants to be reconciled with us and He wants to be our everything, but it's us that fights against it, and oh my goodness, the the depths of that uh that lowness, uh how low that people will go before they'll absolutely turn to Him. It's just a sad situation. And and those, you know, that that have enjoyed that uh sweet fellowship with the Holy Spirit and uh uh going through the hard times, amen, and trusting him. You see other peoples like that and you just love them so much you want them to be able to find that peace too.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:You know, so yeah, it's a time of the year, you know, where everybody else is celebration, celebrating, and there's a lot of people out there going through uh bad memories of maybe lost loved ones or or whatever the situation might be. But again, I still say it there's no situation or circumstance too big, and he remains the remedy and the antidote for any situation or circumstance. Amen. Amen.
SPEAKER_01:There's only one heart member repairman that can fix my broken heart.
SPEAKER_03:Amen, brother.
SPEAKER_01:I can go to counselors, I could go to psychiatrists, I could go to people who are rip motivational speakers and and all of these people. They can't do for me what the word of God can. The world of communism and atheism and devils, they fear one book, and that's the word of God. Amen. Because they know it's anointed and with power and from God. I have no testimony that I can assure you of other than my own. And I was going along in my little business and it started crashing and burning. My finances, my cash flow kept dwindling. I kept having problems. I bow I borrowed till I couldn't borrow anymore. And I'm sitting at my desk saying, Lord, I'm I'm I'm spent. I've done all I could do. Don't look like this is gonna work unless you help me. Lord, I need you. I need you to move. I can't do no more with it myself. Yeah, and I'm I'm I'm in I'm despondent somewhat, but I I'm cast down, but I'm not forsaken, and I know he's still there. I got sense enough to know that. And the phone rang and another company that done the same kind of business I did had decided to quit. And they had a pretty good sized inventory at for that time. I would say sixty to seventy thousand dollars worth of stuff. That was a lot of money at that time. And they said, Well, you won't come and look at it. And I thought, well, a man with no money, but I know you made this call come, Lord, so yes, I'll be there. And I'll go over there to look at their merchandise. I was lucky to have enough to buy lunch and gas. And they showed me that, and Lord, that looks so good. And I thought, what I could do with that, and I'm thinking, Lord, I don't know how you're gonna pull this off, but I'm believing you are. We got through talking, they said, But do you want it? I said, Yes, sir, I sure do. But I'm gonna level with you. I do not have any money. And they offered that to me for$10,000. And if I said, Fellas, if you want me to have it, let me have it on a credit, and I assure you, you will get your money. They run in the office and talked a little while, come out and said, We're gonna let you have it. Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_03:Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_01:I had to borrow your truck to go over and pick it up. Mr. Bennett here in the county, and the first set of batteries I sold out of it just about paid it off.
SPEAKER_03:Praise God. That's God. That's God.
SPEAKER_01:That's God. They could have sold that to anybody in the world, yeah, but he made them call me.
SPEAKER_03:Yes.
SPEAKER_01:When you don't see the light at the end of the tunnel, the light will find you. Oh, yes. He'll be there for you, I assure you. You give your heart and your life to him. The world is not your provider, God is your provider in Jesus' name. Amen.
SPEAKER_03:So there's one testimony, Brother Hubert's testimony, and he described his situation and how he had nothing of his own resources to turn anything around but his faith in God, and God came in and did it all. Amen. Amen. So I still maintained, and there's a testimony that that uh proves it, that all you need to do is to turn to God. Amen. That's that's what he's wanting. What we all have to understand is God, what does it say? Man looks on the outward appearance, and God looks at the heart. God knows the truth about us. Amen. He we are transparent before him. You know, some people have hard times, and I mean really hard times, but and still, and they'll still refuse to turn to God and still listen to the devil. And the devil will start getting them into self-pity. You know, instead of instead of being broken and running to God, uh, they'll they'll they're maintaining this evil heart of uh of pride, of woe is me. Ain't nobody got it as bad as me. You know, that that's that's pride. That's still it's amazing to me. No wonder God hates pride so much. And that's still pride, even though you have nothing holding on to that, even though you got nothing to be prideful about. And then also a lot of times it's coupled with bitterness, you know, like uh you know, looking at others that are are more uh blessed seemingly than what you are, and you start harboring bad feelings, you know, towards this one or that one for what they may or may have not done, you know, you gotta be broken. Amen. You gotta be broken. And here's some things that the word of God uh says about being broken in Psalms 34, 18. The Lord is nigh unto them who are of a broken heart and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. See, what happens is you start seeing yourself for who you really are. They ain't the truth of the matter and the truth of God's word. He said, Air righteousness is filthy rags, there's not none of us, not none of us worth a plug nickel.
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_03:That's the truth in and of ourselves, amen. But we were made by holy God, and we were made with a place inside of us that he's supposed to dwell in. And if we're running around here trying to make it on our own, trying to be something on our own, uh, we're failing miserable. Amen. And we're getting farther and farther away from him. So, you know, I don't want to seem uh void of compassion to anybody that might be listening during this holiday season. Uh, because I know how bad it can get. And I know just one thing right after the other, you know, uh how bad that it can get. But but I've also heard many stories like Brother Hubert just shared there, uh, where people were in such dire straits and uh they finally broke open and moved to God. Uh I'm reminded of the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel chapter 1.
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_03:Here was a woman that was married to a man, and she wasn't the only wife back then. Some of them fellers had more than one wife. Well, one of the wives he was married to was giving him all the children he could ever want. Seemed like everything was just going her way, and the favor of God was all over her. But this woman began to feel like she was useless, of no benefit, not being able to have a child. She uh and and she began to be in sorrow of heart. Yeah. Sorrow of heart, just brokenness, despair beyond belief, and tried to talk to her husband. Her husband didn't get it. He started trying to explain it away, like we husbands do. Like, well, ain't I good enough to you then uh then anybody else? Ain't I being good to you? Trying to cheer her up and everything. He just didn't understand what she was going through. And I reckon this other wife was just uh ridiculing her and badgering her. You know, when you're down, the devil will send somebody else to stomp you on down, you know, and to make your plight even worse. And so she goes to the priest, the story goes, Eli the priest. And she's just sitting there in front of God, broke open, praying, and the priest looks at her and thinks she's drunk.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:You know, even the priest wasn't getting it. You know, the w how brokenhearted she was, how much pain was inside of her. And she finally just started speaking to the Lord. And she just started pouring her heart out to the Lord. Whew, I feel the Holy Spirit. I'm telling you, there's no situation or circumstance that can't be turned around by air God if you will get real with him. The trouble is, is we don't want to get real with ourselves and we don't want to get real with him. And she began to pour out her heart to him and said, Lord, if you'll give me a man child, I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll turn around and I'll give him back to you all the days of his life. And you know what happened from that time on. Nothing happened yet. She didn't have no baby, she wasn't pregnant yet, but her countenance was lifted right then and there. And man, that's a way the Lord can do. I can't tell you the times. I remember one time in particular, I was ironing some clothes late at night or something, and Brother Hubert, I was in one of those places to where I didn't care if the sun came up tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:I mean, I was so down and going through things, and I didn't know the answer to. And I didn't, I just got to the place where I just lost all drive and all gumption and everything to go on any further. And in my misery, I was just sitting there working and I just said, Jesus.
SPEAKER_01:Amen.
SPEAKER_03:And I cannot tell you, or Brother James here, how he did it. I can't tell you how he did it. All it was was a desperate cry out to him to help me, and I felt his presence flooding into me, and suddenly in a few seconds, I knew that he loved me. And I knew he was with me, and I knew that he cared for me. Hallelujah. That precious song, because he lives. I can face tomorrow. There's a lot of tomorrows I didn't want to face, but that song, because I know he holds my future. What a precious song. Amen. The story goes on with Hannah. Amen. She trusted him. She became pregnant with Samuel. Amen. Glory to God in heaven, who would become a judge and would usher in the kingdom of Israel. Amen. And uh so she did what she said. She took him and dropped him off. Now giving him back to the Lord didn't mean that uh, Lord, he's yours. No, it meant took taking him to the priest and leaving him there. Yeah and being away from. She honored what she said to the Lord, and look what Samuel did in his life. God took one person's little problem, one person's little brokenness, and look what he did with it. Anointed David, amen, and brought into Davidic kingdom, amen, of when there shall be no end of it, amen, through all eternity, amen. So whoever's listening, whoever's listening out there, I don't know, you know, what your problem is. You could spill out your heart to us and listen to it all. And uh and and again, I know uh that there are many problems that are just horrible. And um uh the the Bible don't tell it's gonna be a bed of roses, brother Hugh.
SPEAKER_01:No, it don't.
SPEAKER_03:It don't say you believe in God and your life will be a bowl of cherries. It does not say that, but what he does say is I'll never leave you nor forsake you. I'll go with you all the way. I'll be a friend that sticketh closer than a brother, and I'll go with you all the way, even to the very end. And that's where the joy comes from. That's where the contentment comes from. It doesn't come from everything being hunky-dory on the outside of us, but it comes from knowing that he's with you and he loves you. He's gone to prepare a place for us, amen, that where he is, amen, we will be also, and there shall we ever be with the Lord. Uh we've got about a minute and 15 seconds, Brother Hubert.
SPEAKER_01:One thing that I've found out that's very important and it'll make you stronger, and God honors it. When you're going through a bad time, give him praise. Amen. Give him praise. Lord, I serve you, I honor you, I love you. You're my Lord and Savior. I give you praise and glory, and no matter what goes on, I'm gonna serve you and reverence you and be your person. Uh I was a sicker than a dog out on the road, and I couldn't talk without throwing up repeatedly in all kinds of mess. And what time I wasn't throwing up, I was praising God.
SPEAKER_03:Praise the Lord.
SPEAKER_01:Because I I figured I better put this to test. Praise him when it's bad. Yeah. And praise him when your finances is bad, and praise him when you're sick. Whatever kind of thing it comes at you, the same way the devil done Job and put him in the offest place ever was, and uh God, God let him do that to try him, but he would not crack. Now he had some problems. He wished he never had been born. He was his wife told him you were to curse God and die and everything else, but he hell faced his integrity. And you may be in the pit, and the devil tells you you can't come out of the pit. He's a liar.
SPEAKER_03:Amen.
SPEAKER_01:Trust the Lord and find out. Stand still. When you're walking up to the Red Sea and Pharaoh's breathing down your back, stand still and watch what the Lord can do in Jesus' name. Amen. Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_03:Well said, my brother. Well said.
SPEAKER_01:Amen. Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_03:That amazing that uh that uh Job had all those possessions.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:But they didn't have him. Amen. Amen. Amen. And he realized where all those possessions come from was the Lord. What did he say at the end of the first day of his great trial? The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. That's the kind of person that me and Brother Hubert's talking about here today. Is you realize your worth is not determined by how many people like you, by how much money that you have. Amen. Your worth was determined for what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross 2,000 years ago. Amen. Hallelujah. God so loved the world. He gave his only begotten son. Whosoever believeth upon him not perish, but have everlasting life. I like that whosoever. He's not a respecter of persons. Amen. What he's done for one, he'll what's the words, another words of some science of a psalmist coming to me. It is no secret what God can do. What he's done for others, he'll do for you. So if we don't care, let's just end this with prayer. Amen. For the any brokenhearted or out there right now. Father God. Touch them. Yes, Lord. You know the pain, Lord. God, when a preacher don't understand, Lord, when a family don't understand and nobody else don't understand.
SPEAKER_01:Father, you can't understand, dear God.
SPEAKER_03:Now help them to be edified and uplifted by our podcast today, dear God.
SPEAKER_01:Touch them, Jesus.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, yes, Lord.
SPEAKER_01:Let them feel your loving arms around you. They will not commit suicide. They will not give up. The devil will try to get you to kill yourself. Don't listen to him.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, God.
SPEAKER_01:There's new life and good life. Just encourage that you might have life and have it more abundantly. He's the way, the truth, and the life. You've tried everything else, try Jesus. Yes, Lord. Hallelujah.
SPEAKER_03:Amen. Praise the Lord. Reach out and touch the Lord. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah. Thank Brother James and thankful for this podcast.
SPEAKER_01:Amen. Glory to God.
