SPEAKER_02:Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Welcome to Bible Talk. The first show of the year. All right. Praise the Lord. We thank God today for letting us be here today to uh start our new year off with this show. And I was thinking, what better way to start the new year than to talk a little bit about trusting in the Lord? Alright. So my message today is going to start in Proverbs 3. Everybody knows it. It's probably been on t-shirts and cups and mugs. And everybody knows it. It's Proverbs 3, 5, and 6. And the Word of God says, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lay not into thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Wow. These are essential verbs that we uh for those people who want to live their lives that is marked by God's wisdom, these are essential to us. They're trust, you know, trust is a deeply personal thing. It's it's not something that's automatic. You know, we we don't just automatically trust things. We it must be developed. You know what I'm saying? Especially when uh life feels crazy all around us or life gets crazy and things just go out of whack, and you know, uh the new year starts off and we think everything's gonna start off great, and the next thing you know, everything blows up, and and so but we still have to trust. We have to have that trust. And the thing about it is is people, God doesn't ask for part of our trust. No, he don't want part of nothing, he wants it all. He asks for all of it, and this means that we have to let go of the details. You've heard that old saying that the devil is in the details. We have to let go of the details. We have to quit trying to control the details. You know, we we are trained to trust what we know, uh, our experience, our logic, our instincts. We're trained to trust our instincts. We're trained to trust our own logic. From our own experiences, we're trained to trust. But see, we have to let go of the details, people, because God's ways are way higher. And when we lean on our own understanding, we limit ourselves. We limit ourselves to human reasoning. And this this can bind us that bind us to what God is doing beyond what we can see. God is out there beyond what we can see doing things in our lives and in things in front of us. And when we go trying to lean on our own understanding about something, you know, we can bind, bind us, you know, to what God's trying to do. So, so just think of it like this. Have you ever thought that you had something figured out? And you you've got it all figured out, uh, a problem or something you've been dealing with, only to realize later that God has a much better plan. God had a much better plan. Or has it ever occurred to you that maybe, have you ever thought that what you thought was a detour in your life was actually God's divine direction. It was maybe it was actually God stepping in and saying, Okay, not this way, sister, this road. Don't go to this road, this road. So he has a way of spinning us off our track and putting us on the right track, and you know, and so we should really think, wow, that was God's divine direction, right? But friends, this should tell us really that we don't have all the answers. We don't have all the answers, and we never will have down here. We never will have in this life. We just need to trust the one who does have the answers. You know what I mean? And verse 6 tells us, in all thy ways, acknowledge him, and he shall in all thy ways acknowledge him. So, okay, so this is saying, you know, bring God into every area of your lives. In all of our ways, acknowledge him. Bring God into every area, not just on our Sunday morning going to church, or not just our prayer times, or not just when we're sitting around watching TV and think about him. We need to bring God into every single situation and every single area of our lives. It means all of all of our work, our family, our finances, relationships, health, our dreams, everything. We need to bring God into all that. We need to, it says, in all thy ways, acknowledge him. And acknowledge him means more than just giving God a nod. You know what I'm saying? It means inviting him into every decision. It means walking with God, not just working with for him, it means walking with him and and and talking to him and giving every single decision to him. He said, and he shall direct thy paths. And this is the promise of God's divine guidance. When we acknowledge that God, uh, when we acknowledge him in prayer, uh in fasting, uh, surrendering our stuff over to him and in obedience, he'll direct our paths. This is the outcome, you know, when we trust him fully and lean not on ourselves and acknowledge him in everything, everything we do. He promises to direct our paths. And see, so in other words, to lean not on your own understanding is really just another way of saying, you know what, we need to live by faith. That's what that really means. And let's look at some people in the Bible. Abraham. Abraham was leaning not on his own understanding when he and Isaac was walking up that mountain to offer a sacrifice to the Lord. Right? Daniel, he was leaning not on his own understanding when he was being led to the pit to spend the night with the hungry lions. Stephen was leaning not on his own understanding when he was stoned to death for proclaiming Jesus as the Christ. Amen. Friends, the world wants us to trust ourselves. The world wants us to trust in all what we know. People, Jesus Christ wants us to trust in him. God wants us to realize, and he's somebody needs to realize this today, that our thinking and our reasoning is flawed. It's flawed. He wants us to see that our emotions and our feelings are more so than not contrary to his will. Right? Now we know he works in mysterious ways. God works in mysterious ways, uh, but we still need to trust him. God said in Isaiah 55, 8 and 9, he said, for my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways my ways. He said, For as heaven is higher than the earth, my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. People, we are called to acknowledge him in all of our ways, all of our thinking, all of our dreaming, all of our activity, all of our planning, all of our decisions, everything we do, we should acknowledge him in all of it. Because friends, trust me today, there is human wisdom, and then there's God's wisdom. And we all know these two are very, very different. First Corinthians 1 and 5 1 and 25. The Apostle Paul tells us that God's wisdom is far, far superior than ours. It says, for the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. Right? So the main point is to avoid really relying solely on our own understanding. We can't rely on our own feelings, on our own heart, on our own mind, because it's gonna just set us up. It's gonna just it we just can't do it. It's gonna set us up to fail. We, you know, we need to put all of our faith in God. Psalms 18 and 30 tells us that God's ways is perfect, and that he shields all of us who takes refuge in him. The word of God actually uses the word buckler. I I found that in the word of God, and I was looking up that word, and the word, the meaning of the word for it in the Bible is a type of shield. So it's said uh it's said that the term is used to represent God's divine protection, God's faithfulness and his truth. And it's used very, very quite often, a few times in his word. You see, my friends, today, and somebody needs to hear this, he's telling us today to lean on him. Lean on him. Because see, he knows our situations, he knows where we are, he knows the direction that we need to go in in order to get to our destination. He knows the things we need, he knows what you need before you even get down on your knees and ask him. He's telling us to lean on him. And it's important, it's important that we don't try to lean on our own understanding because this will cause us heartache, people. Trusting in the Lord is essential. Trusting in the Lord is essential. Somebody listen to that today. Trusting in the Lord is essential. So visualize this. Would you rather lean against a brick wall that's sturdy and strong and can withhold anything? Or would it be better for you to lean against a straw structure that could easily fall? I know this may sound silly, but see, that's why it's so important people to lean on the Lord. To lean on the Lord and trust in Him and not try to lean on your own, because you know, we we will fall over. We will fall over and we we need the Lord people. Proverbs 8 18 and 10 says, the Lord, the name of the Lord, is a strong tower. Right? So do you lean on your own or do we trust in a strong tower? I believe I'd rather trust in a strong tower personally. Now I'm gonna give you a little scenario here and just something to think about. Now, check this out. So years ago, uh, before the invention of radar, and and I'm not a a a yacht person, I'm not a sailor or or whatever, but just listen, see if you can understand what I'm saying, and try to get on the page with me. Years ago, before the invention of radar, of course, and now of course in our generation we have GPS and other guidance systems, but years years ago, ocean going vessels, they had two compasses on their boats, on these ships. The captain had one right there in his chair, him, or whatever it's called, uh, and and for right there beside of him, he had a compass that he could look at. And then out there on the ship, on this big huge pole, way up in the air, that I have been told is called a masthead, way up high above the ship, there was another compass. Okay? Just just bear with me here. So quite often the captain would send a sailor up uh the masthead, climb up there to check on this compass that's way up high above the boat, right? And so what I was reading up on this stuff, it said that one day a passenger asked this, a curious passenger, asked the captain, why do you send a sailor up that up that that stick every every every so often? Why do you do that? And so the captain proceed proceeded to explain that that there was two compasses on the ship, and that the one compass that's in there in the room where he sits and where he helps them guide the ship, there's a compass there, and he told them about the one up high. He says, so he has to send someone up high to check this compass that's up high, uh, to check it. And and and because they navigate by that compass. So they wonder, well, why do you navigate by that when it's way up there? So the captain goes on to say, you know what? There's so much metal, there's so much metal on this ship that it excuse me, it affects the compass that's on the deck, right? The metal around and in the ship causes that compass, it can be off. And if it's off just a little bit, the whole ship could be off course, which can very lead to a disaster, right? He said, but the compass up high, out there on that pole, way up high, is unaffected by its surroundings. It's up there in the air, there's no metal around to bother it. And it's perfectly accurate. It is the most accurate compass of the two. That's the one they navigate by. And so he explained to the to the passenger, we navigate by that compass up above. And so they got me to thinking, brothers and sisters, that's exactly how we are. It's the same for me and you today, and I hope you're on the same page with me. It's the same with me and you today. We when we lean on our own understanding, there's so many things around here, around us, and when we lean on our own understanding that's going, that can say, hey, you know, that can get in our way and and throw us off course and and and cause us to doubt and cause us to question. And when we lean on our own understanding. But when we trust that guidance from above, when we trust that guidance that's way up here where there is nothing, nothing up here affecting this. This is the love of the Lord. This is the trust and the guidance of the Lord, and that's who we need to trust. Please, I hope you're on the page with me on this. I hope I'm not confusing you. But anyway, what I'm trying to say is being directed from above is a blessing that comes when we trust in the Lord with all of our heart. When we don't lean on our own understanding, we don't try to figure things out all of our on our own. We don't let the things that's around us, like the metal on the compass, we don't let the things around us, the sin and the grumpiness, the grouchiness, the hatefulness, the meanness of people, the stuff going on the road. We don't let that bother us because we we're leaning on the Lord. We're we're we're we're we're leaning on things from above. And being directed from above is a blessing, people, that comes. Again, I say, when we trust in the Lord with all of our heart, God directs our paths. He doesn't promise us a life without hardship. No, he doesn't. He does not tell us it's gonna be perfect and the day is gonna be perfect, and everything's gonna fall into place. He never promised us none of that. But people, he will direct us to the only path that leads to eternal life. He will direct us to that path. And when he puts us on that path, he will direct us and he'll keep us on that path. Is the path gonna be bumpy and uh twisty, curvy? Yes. But my friends, so here today I want you to understand and ask yourself this what would you lose or could you lose if you just lean on God and try things his way? What have you got to lose? And you've got a lot of things to lose if you give it to the Lord. But what have you got to gain? Ask yourself that. What do I have to gain if I let the Lord lead me and I don't lean on my own? Now I've learned over the years that uh, you know, working walking with Jesus, he he guides us. God guides us, he guides us sometimes through scripture and and opening the book and reading scripture and he gives us our answers to things through that. Uh sometimes through uh uh the whisper of the Holy Spirit, you know, he talks to us through doors that opens and closes. He talks to us and he guides us. He guides us through all these doors. But people, he always guides us with his love. And friends, today that is exactly what we need to do. And he tells us in verse 5, he says, with all thine heart. This means with everything in you, this means more than your emotions. It means your mind, your will, the whole inner you. Friends, you're you're not supposed to figure this out on your path, you're not supposed to figure out this path on your own. He did not, he's right here beside of us, ready to walk this path if we put our trust in him. God will guide you through all the twists and all the turns that he has that you're gonna go through. He will lead you to a life of freedom. And somebody needs to hear this today. Friends, I'm telling you right now, God cannot lead you where you won't follow. He can't lead you if you're not gonna follow him. He can't lead you to that road. I'm gonna repeat that. God cannot lead you where you will not follow. You have to trust in him, trust in him to lead you way better than you can lead yourself. And it's a big, huge, broad mistake to try to lean on your own understanding because it puts you on a path in a position to fail. People, we can't navigate this on our own. The world is crazy right now. It's a new year, and it's already started off crazy. This new year's already been nuts. Open up your Facebook and look at the news and look at TV. It's already nuts. It's already crazy. Everything started off nuts. But I'm telling you right now, if you trust in God, trust in his word, and acknowledge him, he will lead you and guide you around every corner that you can't even see around. You don't have to worry about what's on that corner coming up because God is already in there, he's already there at that corner leading and guiding you if you let him. God cannot lead you, people, where you will not follow. He won't. He can't. I'm telling you. You have to give him, give it to him everything. Your heart, your soul, your mind, everything. You have to bring it to the altar and lay it down to him, people. You have to let him have every single thing, your thoughts, your your everything in your heart, everything you have to go through him. You can't do it on your own. I don't even know why anybody would even want to try to navigate this world on their own with the craziness that's going on, and the craziness that's That according to this Bible is coming up on us. It's not going to be fun and games, people. I'm telling you. You will need God in his guidance. You will need the Lord coming up in his guidance. You're not going to be able to uh navigate this alone, I'm telling you. You can't sit there and look on, look at, and go by that compass that's mixed up and getting all crazy from the world. You better look to the one above. The compass, the the blessings and the grace that's coming down from the Lord above is who you better look to. Friends, I'm telling you today, Proverbs 3, 5, and 6 is not just a verse in the Word of God to read or remember. It's a life verse. Remember this. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. It's a life verse, it's a steady hand. When life feels crazy and uncertain, read that. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. It's a reminder to us that God is not only trustworthy, but He is always there leading the way for those people who've put their trust in Him. Friends, I'm telling you today, I'm telling you today, friends, and I'm going to close with this. Where you are, wherever you find yourself right now, wherever you are into this new year, whatever's going on in your home, your life, your marriage, your kids, your work, whatever's going on, wherever you find yourself, whatever you're facing, whatever decisions you're facing, uh if you're feeling unsure about the future or uh you have good things going on in your life and your family that you need to take to the Lord, trust in him. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Give all that stuff to him, give your children to him. Take it to the altar. Get on your knees and cry out to the Lord and tell him, I'm leaving them here. I'm trusting in you, Lord, with all of my heart. I don't want to lean on myself. I want to lean on you. Tell the Lord this. People give him, give it all to him. Wherever you are right now, whatever you're doing in life, whatever life is throwing at you right now into this new year, because like I said, it's not gonna get any better. It's not gonna get any better. Don't let anybody tell you and promise you that that the craziness is gonna get better because it's not. People, if you're feeling unsure about your future, if you've given your life to the Lord already and you need to fully, fully trust him more, I beg you to get down somewhere and give it to him. Get down somewhere and put your trust in him. If you have never given your life to the Lord, if you are a sinner out there and you need to give your life to the Lord and you need to put your trust in him, get somewhere right now and get down on your knees and pray and give it to him. People give it to him, give it to him heart and body and soul. If you're just simply trying to trying to stay upright and stay on track, and and a lot of us, that's exactly what a lot of us are doing right now. We're just still trying to stay on track and stay upright and stay take it one step at a time. Remember this. Trust God with all your heart. Trust him with everything, put everything in him, give it to him, because he's got you. He says it in his word. And all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy prayer paths. He's have he has you, he made you. You were his to start with. Give it to him. He has you and he always will. He will not leave you, he will not forsake you. I'm gonna end with the prayer. God bless everybody. Have a happy new year. Uh I hope this has touched somebody. I hope somebody has has opened up their heart and their mind to this. Uh, I hope this has blessed you as much as it blessed me to bring it to you. God bless everybody. Our Father God, we ask you, God, to open up people's hearts and minds to this, to this reading or to this scripture. Let people understand that they are not going to get anywhere without you. That the the the future that's coming up, that they are gonna need you to navigate. Just like we need it, just like the boat needs the the compass to navigate, we need you to navigate this life with us and for us. And I ask you to put it in these people's hearts. Let these verses and these words go to the people that need to hear it. Let them open up their hearts and their minds and their ears to understand, Lord, what the Spirit's saying. Talk to their hearts, Lord, the people that hasn't given their trust to you. Talk to their hearts, Lord, and lay it on their hearts. Lay that conviction down on each and every one of them, Lord, that they will give their life to you. They will open up to you, Lord. I ask you to bless all these people today. Each and every one of them that's hearing this, wherever this goes, whoever's phone gets this, whoever's Facebook gets this, whoever's page gets this. Let them open up their minds and their hearts to realize they ain't going nowhere without you. They'll never get anywhere without you. Lord, we thank you for this day, for this broadcast, for this podcast, for this show, for the 421 show, for Brother James, for just letting us do this. Lord, we just ask you to go with us and lead us in God, each and everybody, according to your will, Lord. We praise you, we honor you, and we love you, Lord. We ask these and all things. In Jesus' holy sweet name, we pray. Amen and amen. God bless everybody.
