We open the mic for raw testimony, tracing how God uses storms, near-death moments, and hard family history to build a real relationship with Jesus. We talk honestly about abuse, fear, healing, and why prayer and obedience still matter in everyday life.
• why trials often intensify after salvation and how storms can reshape us
• learning to call on the name of Jesus in real-time stress
• breaking cycles of violence, addiction, and shame for our kids
• surviving childhood chaos and multiple life-threatening moments
• forced early marriage, domestic abuse, miscarriage, and the road to freedom
• stepping out of comfort zones to speak, pray, and serve
• choosing sobriety and patience as spiritual discipline
• praying for strangers, using prayer cloths and anointing oil, and watching doors open
• health crises, lung cancer fear, and the power of united prayer
• forgiving ourselves and focusing on relationship over religion
• why church fellowship matters and how testimonies strengthen people
I would like to say to all the listeners if you don't know Christ I I beg you with my whole heart just whosoever calleth upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Just say the name Jesus Christ
I would like to welcome everyone to the show enjoy and God bless everyone.

And uh she's gonna be Dee is going to be sharing her testimony with us. And hey, the mic's yours. Oh wherever you want to start at. No, it's it's it's the Lord's.
SPEAKER_04True, true, yes, sister. Um amen, sister.
Why God Uses Storms
SPEAKER_04He's been putting it on my heart to do this for a long time and I've been fighting with it. But I want to start off by before I give my testimonies the trials and the tribulations that we go through in Christ. Um, the reason we go through storms like we do is because he's trying to get us in a better place than what we ought, you know, what we was. Amen. Because once you go to the altar and you tell the Lord that you want him to forgive you and save you and stuff, uh that's when it starts because he wants you to come as he you are, but he don't want you to stay there. Amen, sister. And he wants you to start there's a lot of times I just sit and stare at stuff because he's giving me ideals of stuff that he's put me through that I need to know because that's a testimony.
SPEAKER_05Amen.
SPEAKER_04Yes. And um he gave uh he gave me some stuff and uh he wanted me to speak on different subjects, different things, and I'm saying, Well, Lord, this ain't all the same. And he goes, The people ain't the same. Amen. They need different stuff. Yes. So if I'm all over the place, it's because he feels like that somebody else needs something else besides just you know we reach a a diverse culture, just not here in Harlan.
SPEAKER_01We're reaching people in other countries, you know, people with different mindsets. Amen. See, God knows exactly what he's doing, sister.
SPEAKER_03Amen.
SPEAKER_01There's no reason to be nervous because God's got, you know, the Lord says the steps of a righteous man are ordered by God. He's put you in this step right here. Amen. God is good, is he not? Yes, he is.
SPEAKER_05That's that's what I told you yesterday when you and I had a talk about there's things that you guys have gone through. There's tables that you could set at that I can't. There's tables that that Brother James and I have set at that you can't, because you know, we don't know what we've all gone through. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. But when you open up your mouth, whoo, the Lord will feel it.
SPEAKER_04I just want when I when I speak about it, I just want people to feel my spirit and just, you know, grab onto it and just because you know, we go through the cre you know, the if you have a relationship with the Lord and stuff, you do go through trials. But don't let that scare you because it just picks you up and it puts you in the spot to where you need to be. Right. Uh because it's just like these uh you've seen these three crosses and these guys on there, uh you know, uh these two with Jesus. Well, this one guy, he done everything that, you know, under the sun, he was a liar, a stealer, all kinds of stuff. And then this other guy on the other side of Jesus was the same thing. But this guy had the devil and this guy has to be saved.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_04Well, guess who went to heaven and who didn't?
SPEAKER_05Amen.
SPEAKER_04So if you want to go to heaven, just ask God to save you.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_04Because that's what it's all about.
SPEAKER_05Amen.
SPEAKER_04And I'm telling you, once you get saved and once you have Jesus flowing through your body, phew, what a feeling that is.
SPEAKER_06Right.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I when the world gets on me and I can't handle handle it no more, and I'm in my car, I I f I d uh sometimes I do it just in front of people. I mean, if it's that bad, I'll just blur blurt out Jesus because you can feel the power in that name. Amen. In the name of Jesus. Yeah. In the name of Jesus, you know, that's what I say. And you just feel the power, and it's it's just like it just soothes me.
SPEAKER_06Right.
SPEAKER_04What what was uh frustrating me and stuff like that, it just went away.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_04But try it sometime when you get so frustrated you can't stand it. In the name of Jesus. But I'm gonna tell you something, and and I'm glad I'm doing this because this needs to be out.
Faith In Public Spaces
SPEAKER_04Because school's starting. I got to go to my first ball game. Middle school to be the doll.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_04And I'm telling you, brother, I felt like I needed to baptize before I got out of there. Amen to that. This middle school. Yes. Come on, people. If you're a sinner, you can still be respectful and present yourself in the right manner. Saving, well, we know better. Because the Lord puts it in our heart that we know better. But we don't have to act like that. No. And I mean, I I wanted to break out and have church there.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_04Because it really needed it.
SPEAKER_05Makes you want to anoint everybody in the house, don't it?
SPEAKER_04I mean, it was middle school people.
SPEAKER_01Well, it gets worse as you get down to the lower grades.
SPEAKER_05Well, you know, the thing that gets me about all that is it's what these people are teaching their kids. I mean, you're teaching your kid that it's okay for you to stand up and scream and holler and cuss and whatever they were doing. Yeah. Uh, I mean, your kids are gonna think, well, you know, mom and dad did that last week, so all right.
SPEAKER_04Well, my seven my seven-year-old, he went to his other grandmother's and um they was, you know, they they don't go to church or nothing like that, but um they said some bad words and and he got he started preaching to them. He said, Wow, you ain't supposed to be saying bad words. He said that's disrespecting the mouth of babes. He said, That's disrespecting me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And I said, you go boy. Amen. Amen. He he's he's something else. But um ancestor. Okay, let's start. I'm gonna start with um well, wherever you want to.
Growing Up Between Church And Violence
SPEAKER_04I'm a survivor out of let's say 12 to 14 miscarriages my mom had. Wow. I'm the only child. Um I won the odds on that.
SPEAKER_05Hey, it was meant to be for you to be.
SPEAKER_04Jesus saved me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um on my dad's side, um I grew up with uh bootleggers. Um it was my mama raised me, so uh she's the one that had me in church. Um I pretty much uh with her I um cut my teeth on the pew benches. I remember laying under the the seat like uh Brother John was talking about and just listening to the songs and singing and stuff like that. And uh I'd run up around the pulpit and I'd start preaching because uh I grew up my papa, his name was Rudolf Reimer, Reverend Rudolph Reimer. And um he uh he preached he he told him one day that uh he said I'll be at church Sunday, he said, but I won't be preaching. He knew he was gonna die. And uh my mom, she was four to six months pregnant with me, and he had a massive heart attack and died.
SPEAKER_05Wow.
SPEAKER_04And uh, but my mama, she kept me in church, and then uh my parents would come and get me and take me off for a little bit, and uh uh like I said, my dad and his family was bootlegers, and they drunk and played cards, and it was like a knife fight, a gun fight, dodging bullets. Um but God saved me. Amen, sister.
SPEAKER_03Mention how God brought you through them roads, and every time we take a certain road and stuff, mention how God brought you through all the times you tell me. Uh well, um like down at Varilla Curve and on the belt line, tell tell about to tell you how you tell me about God brought you through with them nights.
Close Calls That Shaped Her Faith
SPEAKER_04Well, there's one incident. Um I was at my aunt and uncle's house and uh they was all drinking and having a party and stuff and uh guns and knives and blood and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_05Wow.
SPEAKER_04And uh my uncle was gonna shoot my dad one night. And uh he had the gun right in him and I jumped in front of him and I said, Don't shoot my dad, you know. And uh about the time my aunt grabbed me and I grabbed my dad and the gun went off. So God saved me again. Uh then we was going down to the belt uh going down the belt line, going to my grandmother's house. My not the one that raised me, but my other one. And uh he passes at the at the wheel. I'm like four years old. So you tell me who was driving that car. Four years old. Wow. I didn't know how to drive that car, but I made it to Mama's and he was passed out.
SPEAKER_03Wow. Jesus was at the wheel.
SPEAKER_04So you know when you say Jesus is at the wheel, Jesus was at the wheel.
SPEAKER_01But that tells you the scripture, like I said there a while ago, the steps of a righteous man ordered by God. You was ordained as a child. Yeah, God had set your path way before you even thought about it. Oh yeah. And he he's he's been at the wheel and he's still at the wheel.
SPEAKER_04I tell you what, uh I can sit here and tell you so many times that he saved me. Yes. Uh one night uh my dad got drunk and him and his friends was at the house and they was just hoping and hollering and going on, and uh he sold me and my mom to his drunk buddies.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_04And me and my mom had to cave herself in the bedroom and they was trying to get in the window, they was trying to get in the door. Me and my mom we got under the mattress and tried to keep them from getting us. And finally we escaped somehow out of that room and went and hid in the barn. And uh the next morning we went home and uh I looked at mom and I said, prayers worked, we're alive. And I was only like five. So I knew the Lord saved us. I even told mom the Lord saved us. And um, but she just I don't know, she just kept on running after him, and I try I tried to get her to go to church with me. Well, I did get her to go to church with me, but she still ran after him.
SPEAKER_05But is she still alive?
SPEAKER_04No, they're both passed away. Both of them. Yeah. Um they called me and told me that he was at the hospital dying and stuff, and they wanted me to come to the hospital. And everybody told me I'd regret it not going, but I don't. I think he knew that we didn't have nothing to say.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_04It wasn't it wasn't so much that I had a grudge against him or I didn't love him because I did. He was my dad. I loved him. But not for who he was.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_01I I can understand that. There was a point in my life that, you know, if you know, I my dad's my dad. He's always going to be my earthly father, but there's a point in my life that I don't think I would have cried at his funeral. I'd been sorry that he had passed and I didn't get to know him. But that you know, there there'd been a point in my life now I got to know him. But it won't be as sorrowful like it does was when my mother or grandmother passed away. I mean, I can relate a little bit to what you're saying on that.
SPEAKER_04Well, see, he uh uh him and my mom was together 38 years, and my mom, she now this is the guy that used to take her up on her dad's grave and beat the car tar out of her. Wow. And uh why she followed him, I don't know, but I guess only she knows why.
SPEAKER_01I asked that same question with my mom when she was married to my stepdad.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Why, you know, he he he beat her repeatedly. Yeah. I mean I grew up in an abusive abusive home, drug-related home. I I definitely can write a lot to you, sister.
SPEAKER_04And uh well, after that, uh he he choose he chose his other family that he married to. Him and mom was married for 38 years and then he just found mom's best friend to beat it all, or one of mom's friends. Uh he he went with her and they got married, and it was just like he don't even know m my kids that much. Just when they was babies, and he really don't know his great-grandkids, um, or didn't when he passed away. And um I just you know, everybody says, well, you should have made an effort. Well, he knew where I was at. He had visited my house before. I had gone over to his house before. If I was looking at it as a mother, if that was my daughter, I'd been right there.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_04So if he wanted a relationship, he should have been there.
SPEAKER_01I think God tells us the same thing with Christ. Yeah. He he gives us an open door to the altar. And he tells me all the time, James, if you want a relationship, just open that book, go pray. It's there. He he's offering us, you know, there it is.
SPEAKER_04I I said I say here, and if people could just feel the love and the power of Jesus, they wouldn't want this earthly stuff.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_04Because there's nothing out there. Uh it was just like there was one um one day in church, we was uh the preacher was talking about the earthly stuff, the worldly stuff. You know, when I got when I got born again, he took that desire away from me. You don't when you get saved and stuff like that, you don't have to worry about messing up because he's inside of you going, no, we're not gonna do this. This is not for you. And so I rely on that little voice. And I mean, I re I I I I just, you know, that when I get up in the mornings, I rub myself down with oil. I just, uh, Jesus, whatever is your will today, I don't even say, well, uh, what am I gonna do today? Uh-uh. It's what he wants me to do today because I mess things up every time. When I was younger, I couldn't, I couldn't do nothing without him. And um, speaking of younger, um, the relationship that I have with my father or my dad, uh, because to me, Jesus is my father.
Family Trauma And Choosing Forgiveness
SPEAKER_04But uh my earthly dad, um, when I was like 11 or 12 years old, maybe 12 or 13, something like that, uh, he gave me a choice. I could either get married or he's gonna see me off. Because my grandmother, uh, she got real sick and uh we worked in the garden from all the time. That's how we, you know, had our food was we worked in the garden and stuff like that, and she got to where she wasn't able to do it no more, and it was just me and her. And uh uh she started getting health issues and she didn't have any insurance. So my Aunt Kathy, she got a job in Michigan, and so they moved to Michigan. Well, Mama was gonna take me with her. Aunt Kathy was gonna take me with her, but for some reason mom and dad didn't didn't okay with that or something. Anyway, don't know why. Because that's when it all started. Uh God had to save me so many times. Um when um I I got married and uh I was like uh I I want to say twelve or thirteen.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_04And um he was very abusive. Um it was it was almost like living uh with my dad again. Um so I kinda I knew it was wrong, but it was something I was used to. And uh I was young too. So, you know, I thought that he was the man, he was the boss, you know. So I mean my girlfriend well uh I'll I'll throw this out there. Um I was six months pregnant and uh he uh he beat me so bad they couldn't even tell if it was a boy or a girl. Uh my doctor, he was so man uh he uh he had him up against the wall and uh I the nurses had to get him off of him because I was like maybe thirteen at the time and uh he beat me with num chokes and started kicking me. And my neighbor pulled him off of me. And uh so God saved me there and God saved me again. But I couldn't understand why I lost a baby, but I do now. I really understand because I feel like that was that was a valley that I didn't want to be tied to. That was that was just something that needed to be washed away. Amen, sister. And because it was it was toxic. It was um it was just it was a miserable um it was an awful time in my life. But I was at church and me and my girlfriend, we was making she stayed on night with me one night to make cupcakes. And uh we had to make like 60 cupcakes for church and uh so you know we finally get done and we've got the cupcakes done ready for church the next day. And uh we go to bed and I wake up and I go to the bathroom and her and my husband is in there in the bathroom.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_04And uh so I blow a holy gasket. That's the only way you can put it. Right. And uh sh why why I grabbed her up and started well well, I guess the reason that I way laid her is because you know, she was supposed to be my friend. She went to church with me, you know? And you just don't do that. And I was only like 13 too, so you know, um God saved me there too. And so I finally got rid of that, and um he caught he caused me to to go off on him too. And so that was uh the end of that life in my story.
Married Too Young And Escaping Abuse
SPEAKER_04Um I finally got a divorce from him. Well uh we had it annulled. Right.
SPEAKER_01So um do you find it hard? I know I do. Growing up in a toxic environment like that, do you still find it hard to deal with people today just in general? Somewhat. Yeah, yeah. I find myself I hermit myself sometimes. You know, I I really reserved. I want to step out and talk to people. I guess that's one reason why the Lord put me behind his mic.
SPEAKER_04Well, see, that's that's another thing too. Uh the Lord's bringing me out. Yeah. And that's he he's uh see, when I was in school, I let him give me an incomplete because I just couldn't get up in front of the classroom and you know, read my essay. It's hard. So, you know, they would say, well, now if you don't get up, you're gonna get incomplete. I said, incomplete me, I'm not getting up. I just I just couldn't get up in front of all them people. I I don't know if it was because of my childhood or what, but I just I just couldn't do it. And then uh we was at church and uh the Lord put it on my heart to say stuff, and I'd sit there and oh I would fight it. Oh, me and him would argue back and forth. He could end up winning, but man. I can I can account for that too.
SPEAKER_01Amen.
SPEAKER_04But it I mean it's it's hard, but see, I think the reason that he does that is because he's getting you out of your whatever your comfort zone. Yeah. He he wants you to get out and and and speak, I guess, or certain people. Right. Um I I think that he just done that because I just didn't want to. But I'm I'm sure that it ain't just me, but uh, no, it ain't just you. I wasn't j I wasn't the type to be a speaker.
SPEAKER_01And it seems like that I think the enemy wants you to think that. That's what I think. The Lord, yeah, the Lord is telling you that you are. And and see, the devil, what the devil does, he comes to kill, steal, and destroy. And what he's took from us from our childhood, now the Lord has turned around and made it for his good. Yeah. And I I believe with my whole heart, without any doubt, that we are representing what God truly what we was when we was a child, and seeing the enemy had seen that. And he had seen how much influence you would have just by your words. And he's like, Well, okay, I want to put her in this type of environment. I'm gonna take this from her, I'm gonna do this from her. And and look where you're at today. You're ministering God's testimony, you know, to a nation.
SPEAKER_04Well, now I wouldn't give me all the credit because you know I understand.
SPEAKER_01I know what you're saying.
SPEAKER_04I I really, I I really uh I fit with him. Yeah. I mean, I just didn't just go and do it. Um
Fear, Obedience, And Finding Your Voice
SPEAKER_04they was uh I don't know how many times at church he was, go tell her you're gonna do this. I I'd put it off. It was just like when you said, Well, if you need to cancel weekend.
SPEAKER_01I I could tell you this. The Lord told me a few weeks ago, uh, was you guys at church when uh uh Jason had preached, and uh, I think it was the last time he preached, and the Lord told me get down and pray. You know, the Lord says confess our faults one to another, right? So I'm gonna sit here and confess a little bit of fault that I had. Nobody would have known the difference, what I was going through. Who cares? Right? Lord says, get down there and pray. That's what the altar's for. It's it's humility, it's humble, and take care of your business. I'm like, I I could I fought it. I'm not doing it, Lord. I'm not doing it. Got in my truck and said, You should have prayed. Lord says, What is the altar for? And I go on and start telling them what the altar's for. He said, now you got to go to Brother Jason and tell him why. You so I mean I had to humble myself not even once, but twice, but three times. So I can I can definitely relate to you.
SPEAKER_04I I don't know how many times he's wanting me to get up and I'm going, no, they're they've they're doing some. Yeah. And uh I put it off, but I paid for it now. Because I mean, he he when he puts a guilt trip on you. He does, don't he? Shh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04You you know it.
SPEAKER_01Yes, definitely.
SPEAKER_03Um when it's the Lord's will, though, it's the Lord's will. Yes, yes. The devil ain't gonna win. You know, yeah. Like she's talking about how that right there. Like I get up and Brother John, he tells he says, I like Pastor, he says, I like it when my brother gets up here and he says I got something to say, but what he don't know is is what every time when we're standing up there worshiping, I tell him I lean over to his ear and I say, I got something to say, Brother John. And the only reason why I do that is because the devil, I had something to say when I come, but the devil's trying to talk me to him out of it. And I know if I lean in his ear and tell him, I know I gotta get up there, and the devil ain't gonna talk me out of it, because I go back to my pew and I let the devil talk me right out of it and not go up there and speak what the Lord put on my heart. So I've I've that's I'm the only way I can figure out how to fight that devil.
SPEAKER_01I agree with you. I've done that too, bro.
SPEAKER_03Lean in the pastor's ear and tell him I got something to say. So that way the devil don't win. I got I'm I'm already set up for it.
SPEAKER_01Amen to that, definitely. Yes.
SPEAKER_04Well, I don't know where to You're doing okay, sister.
SPEAKER_05So did you so did you get married again? I'm just being nosy. Yeah. After after so did he die, or you guys just got a divorce, which I'm gonna do.
SPEAKER_04Um see. Well, yeah. Um we got married. Um, I had a son. Uh he uh just started partying and drinking and stuff like that, and just um different women, stuff like that. Um I was raising the kid by myself anyway, so you know This was your first husband, right? No, this is my second. The first and uh I just talked about so this is the second one. Okay we got a divorce and uh then he uh he got sick and passed away and uh it it was it was it wasn't a very good marriage. Um but I you know I said and think the road that I was on, um the bad choices. I think it had to do with my childhood because uh the only good choices that I had was with my grandmother. Um thank God that she raised me because she taught me m how to be a lady, she taught me how to be um to present myself, to uh respect people, um to have manners, um to have you know, to w work for a living. Um and to be patient. Oh because a lot of times people don't have patience. Um It's it's just like well, even in the Lord, you know, when we say a prayer um or when we pray, we expect an answer right then. Well it comes at the right time. We just don't know that. But you gotta have patience. And if you're out in the public, you need patience. Um, I don't know how many times through the week I about blow a hole in a gasket over And you know, if you don't have patience, it'll get you in trouble.
SPEAKER_05I mean, look, I can speak from experience. You know, I I got married last June thinking that I was listening to the Lord and I really wasn't. By November I was headed to divorce court because I did not listen to what the Lord told me. And and I should have, and I didn't have patience. Yeah. You know?
SPEAKER_04Well, see, that's something I think that you learn over the years because you got to sit and look at what all that God's brought you through. I mean, I don't know how many times I should have been dead. Right. Um especially m living on my dad's side. I mean, I don't know how many ki how many times Jesus saved me.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_04Um and see another thing too, um when I was when I was out in the world when I was growing up, um I didn't live I didn't have the re relationship with uh Jesus that I needed to, but I knew him and I loved him. Um I've always loved Jesus. Um I always knew that I could call on him when I needed to. But see, that's that's where my mama told me about it. Uh she raised me like, you know, she let me know about Jesus. See, if if we don't let people know about Jesus, they'll never know. It's just like um as a little child, if she hadn't taught me about Jesus and took me to church and stuff like that, I wouldn't have known nothing about it.
SPEAKER_01I like how you said your grandmother growing up was not did not go to church. The only thing that I knew about God was through my grandmother.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely was my grandmother that and she just taught me the love of God. Yeah. And uh like you, she taught me how to be a man. Yeah. You know, and uh what I should and shouldn't do type stuff, and you know, and yeah, it's I thank God for grandmothers.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because I wouldn't be I wouldn't be the one I am today if it had been for her. Yeah.
Breaking Cycles For The Kids
SPEAKER_04Um now girl uh out in the world and stuff like that, I never um I never got on drugs. That wasn't my cup of tea. Um but alcohol was. Um I found myself partying on the weekends. Um but even though I was I still knew Jesus. I still, you know, I still trusted in him and stuff like that. But see, the thing of it was is Jesus fixed me one night, one night. It was on the weekend. I had worked, two jobs, and I was ready to party that weekend. Uh the kids went to their dads on the weekends. Well, my weekend cut short and they brought my k my kids home a day early. And I had just started drinking and I said no way because there was no way I was doing that in front of my kids. Or my kids wasn't around when I did this. And uh I said no way. Um so after that, I decided where I loved it so much, I decided that wasn't for me because I didn't want to go back to where my dad's family was or the way I was brought up. I didn't want my kids to see that. Right. Uh the things that I seen, I did not want that for my kids. And so therefore, I didn't take another I didn't I didn't drink no more like that. It's amazing. Um But see, people say you have to hit rock bottom. No, it's a choice. It's a choice, you're right. Yeah. You make that choice. You either want that for your kids or you don't.
SPEAKER_01It's a it's it's it's it's a choice between good and bad. Right. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03I think God opens your eyes in the time that He not necessarily where we want it to be, but when He sees fit. And I think that's where a lot of people get confused with the bottom thing, is that it's in God's time, it ain't in our time, and especially before we get Jesus in our lives or get saved or, you know, decide to straighten up and bring Jesus into our lives and make our life about Jesus. I think that's what it is. He he is the cho the choice maker. He's the one that lets you go through until he sees fit. And right there, I think that right there, you know, Jesus made it opportune that and need to open her eyes, you know, versus somebody who has to hit a bottom, you know, because everybody's different though.
SPEAKER_04But you know Well, I just I just didn't want to see my I didn't want my kids to see me like that. I just and I felt so ashamed when when I had drunk some and they had to see that. It it it just you don't know what it done to me. It was just like no.
SPEAKER_01It it just not only mentally, but it physically takes a toll on you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, especially because you knew how that felt when you was you was a kid. Yeah. Right. And I didn't want my kids to You had already lived it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I didn't want my kids to feel that. I I go out to the store or just riding around somewhere and I see a family pretty close to the way I grew up, and it just those old feelings start coming back. And I'm telling you, I was like, I don't want that. No. I thank God that that He took me from that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I am so I'm so thankful that He put my man on my life because um she was my hero.
SPEAKER_01Um God is good, is he not?
SPEAKER_04Lord, I tell you what. It's it's just like if they could only feel the spirit or if they could only feel Jesus. I don't know why they fight. Because there's nothing out there.
SPEAKER_01I mean, you you you go I sit in the parking lot and I watch people and it's like you know that reminds me of the story of Naomi and Ruth. You know, Ruth goes into the field of Boaz, you know, and seeks out Boaz and she ends up marrying Boaz. But did you know who she learned all of her stuff from? Naomi. She learned how to be a woman from Naomi. And I thank God for grandmothers, and I thank God for those those people within our lives that that have that much of an influence. And they may not speak to us a lot, but when they did teach us, it was very influential. Oh, yeah. It was very strong. You know, um, I was a boy. I played, played hard, I was a boy. You know, I was always in trouble, but little what a little bit my grandmother taught me is still with me today. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and you know, I'm gonna pass it on to my grandkids. Yes, but uh I have to I have to pray for them because um this generation it's not like it was when we was growing up. It's it's um cell phones and computers and stuff like that. Which I mean I'm not knocking it now. I mean it's good. I mean you can get a lot of education from it and stuff like that. But it also has the world lead stuff on it too.
SPEAKER_01And um the access is so easy if for sin. Yeah, yeah. Just at the tips of your finger. And instead of putting a cell phone in their hands, you know, take it out of their hands. Yeah. Yeah, that that that's that's a bad thing.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And uh but it it's just like a lot of times you just you sit and you go you just wanna just shake somebody and say, come on, you know. You need to choose wise, you need to choose different. But uh uh I I I don't know how many times that I could sit and think of how many times that Jesus did save me. I mean, it uh it wasn't too long ago.
Health Battles And Healing Through Prayer
SPEAKER_04I've been in the hospital several times. Uh the devil um he had me when I got into the emergency room, I wasn't even at myself. I I was just out of it. And uh it was just like they had to keep me there to get me stable to put me in a room. And it was just like, you know, I thought it was my time. And that's the way I felt. I mean, I just barely hanging on.
SPEAKER_03And uh Jesus said otherwise, right?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Jesus it was just like not only he blew breath back into me, but he he also put life back in me. And um it was just like then uh I had a testimony then uh he he j he just brought me out of it. And um then uh the doctor told me that I had uh lung cancer. And uh they was uh gonna do some tests and stuff. And uh I went back to church and uh some of the sisters they found out about it and here they come. They just all over me. And uh they they wasn't gonna have It and uh which I I I'm I I knew that the Lord would take care of it if it was meant to be. But you know, I'm a winner either way. So um I was okay, you know. But I want to do his work and I feel like I feel like that uh he left me here to do his work. Right. And I just he's wanting me to speak, but um, you know, that's out that's out of my comfort zone.
SPEAKER_03But well you're doing good. You're doing real good right now. Hey, I think you're doing awesome.
SPEAKER_01Well the laborers are few. We look at the church today and we see where it lies, and and it's in shambles. People don't want to come to church, people don't want to pray, don't want to read, they just they want to drive through type church, get their sermon and go. Yeah and that that's I hate to say it, but that's a lot of YouTube and all that. I can just get it from Facebook Live, I can get it from a YouTube preacher, and uh and you see that need in the church, and I and it's I had that same prayer. It's like Lord, I don't want to die. I had a heart attack. Lord, and then got to worry about me dying and all that, and the Lord slapped me in the back of the head. He said, It's appointed unto man to die. You're gonna die eventually. But you know, and and the Lord knows my heart, you know, he's like, You want to work, James, so I'm gonna put you to work. And uh I he knows that.
SPEAKER_05You know, uh the Bible tells us to know those that labor among us, and that's why he gives us the discernment, because we know we can feel from everybody, and I can safely say I've felt your spirit. Oh I've seen your spirit, sister. You remember last Sunday, when you this past Sunday, when you brought that oil up front, and and uh uh uh you know everybody was just taking turns walking over and touching that oil. And it wasn't just the oil. When I put my hand on you, I thought we were both going to the floor. You know, I don't know if you felt that, but I did. And then I I see a heart of a servant, you know, because yesterday when we were at the blue court, what were you doing? He's passing out. Oh, she's at a prayer club for Harling. I seen you coming out of the church with a fist full of prayer clubs, and I'm I reached down in and grabbed some usually about every time too, because I'm like you, wherever I go, I try to hand them out. But I seen you with that fist full, and I was like, wow, man, she's getting in a getting some prayer clubs out. And then I saw you at the blue courts yesterday when when uh brother Kobe was there, and I was like, Wow. You have the heart of a servant. I I do that everywhere, and you know So you're listening to the Lord, you're listening. You may think you're not stepping out of your comfort zone, but I see you doing that.
SPEAKER_04What warms my heart is when I hand on that out in town, and uh I they just look at me and like, how did you know? He's always on time.
SPEAKER_05That's it, sister. That's it. I I went and uh it's been probably about a month ago I was in food seating, and uh, there was a lady, I was with another friend of mine, and I seen this lady the Lord when the Lord puts somebody in my sight, I can't take my eyes off of I can turn all the way around, but he still brings my eyes back to that person. I'm like, okay, Lord, okay, give me a minute. And this lady walked by and I just felt. And so I told my friend, I handed her my keys, I said, Hey, hold these for me. And she knew what I was getting ready to do because she was watching me. And I walked down the aisle and this lady was standing there, and I patted her on the shoulder, I said, ma'am, excuse me. And I said, Can I give you something? And she said, sure. And I handed her one of the little Jesus's, and there might have even been a prayer clause, you know, with it. Uh anyway, she looked at me and she said, How did you know? And I'm, you know, I'm kind of like, she said, How did you know that I needed uplifting today? And uh I said, you know, he always knows.
SPEAKER_01She told me she's a day that goes by I don't need you uplift it. So if it comes, I say, hey, bring it.
SPEAKER_05This lady told me she said, My husband is in really bad shape and he needs some kind of new medicine. She said, and I've been praying all day that the Lord will give us this medicine. And so I told her, I said, Well, I tell you what, let's mean you talk to God about it. So man, I was, I was, I said, right there, and we were right there in the aisle. And that lady, man, I she hugged me and I I was in her ear and I was praying and out loud, and I know she heard me, I was right there. And man, I was just praying for this lady and her husband. And man, that woman held on to me so tight I'd never been hugged that tight before in a long time. Uh, but it was awesome to know that you know what, the Lord knew what she needed. Yeah, yeah. And that's how it is with you, sister.
SPEAKER_04He when when I give them that, and it they just like, how do you know? And it's just like they just come up and just hug me. And like, thank God you know you're here, you know. And um it it's it's a wonderful feeling. But then I get some that looks at me like, what's this? And you know you have to explain to them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And uh my grandson Some people won't have it. I mean.
SPEAKER_04Well, I've had some to throw 'em in the car in the trash. And I've had s and I've had some no, I don't I don't believe in that. But you know what? I bet they do now because they caused me to pray for 'em.
SPEAKER_03Right. We go out and church and you know when you're added to that, yeah.
SPEAKER_04And you know when you pray for something. So be careful when you pray for something because you always get it. Not m your time, but his time. It's just like this uh one girl she was seeing recovery and she graduated and she was on her way, she was getting her life back together, and she was doing real good. And then she got a heek up in the road and she's we started seeing her go back out in the world and stuff, and I started praying for her. And I started praying for her. And uh everybody's you know, they they just gave up. They just ain't no hope. Right. I said, Yeah, they are. And I kept on praying for her. And because she's she's got a good soul. Uh she's a very sweet person. Uh, she just lets the world get in her way. And uh I prayed her back to church. She's in church. That's awesome. Sunday, I will I pulled up and there she was, and she looks at me, she's like, I said, I prayed you here. I hope you know that.
SPEAKER_07That's right.
SPEAKER_04And you talking about lifting me up, because I didn't feel like going to church. But you know what? The devil knew that. The devil knew that I didn't need to see that at church because I tell you what, it sh when I seen her, it just made me want to shout. Because that was a prayer answered.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04And uh, but that that's another thing that you know that I'd like to put out there. Um, if you see somebody struggling, pray for them. Um there's no you just can't sit there and say, well, there's no hope for them. Because there is. Uh just like we have choices. Uh you have choices. Uh we have that's the the biggest hope that we have. And um prayers, oh Lord, they work.
Everyday Evangelism With Prayer Cloths
SPEAKER_04Um because uh now I told you about my church, uh my church family g gathering me and uh praying over me and stuff like that. Well, when I went back to the doctor, there wasn't no sign of cancer. Amen.
SPEAKER_05Where two or more is gathered in his name. So he said, all we gotta do is ask. Yes. Prayers work, you gotta believe, yes. Amen.
SPEAKER_04And so you you know, one one week the doctor's got you dying of lung cancer, and then the next week God says, No, you're not. Amen. That's prayer. Yes, that's that's the power. That's it. And uh even when you sit and you even say his name, you can feel the power in his name. Uh that's that's just like uh my grandson, I um he was uh playing with his phone. I gotta tell this because it's just amazing. They he was playing with his phone and he was talking to Google and uh he was asking Google, he says, Who's Colton? And uh then it it didn't respond and he said, Who is Colton Carol? And uh he goes, the uh Google call gone on there and he goes, There's a preacher, Colton, and then it had something else, and and uh Colton said, Yeah, I'm a preacher. And uh then uh he uh then it asked the Google asked it, said, asked him, said, um, do you preach to your toys or your stuff? And uh he says, I preach to my sisters.
SPEAKER_01Amen.
SPEAKER_04And uh then it got on there and it said his sisters, it said their night their name. Wow. Google knew his sister's name. Wow. And I'm sitting here I'm wondering if this is a God wink or what, you know. And um then uh he he uh then Google asked him, said um uh Mr. Copen, what do you preach about? And he said, God in the house, Jesus is in the house, and uh he said, and we're gonna pray the devil out. And I'm going, Amen.
SPEAKER_05That's a future little preacher that is. Yeah, seven years old.
SPEAKER_04He's amazing. Yes, but uh he warms my heart. Um because um a lot of times we're out in town and everything, and and I'm gonna give a prayer call to somebody and he'll go, I want to do it. I said, Well, you can do it. And uh he'll walk up to him and he's here, here's you some Jesus.
SPEAKER_01That's it. That's all that's right there. What does Paul say? Just preach Jesus and him crucified. Jesus, there you go.
SPEAKER_04So that's awesome. Um I just hope I teach him everything that my mama taught me, and I know he's gonna be good. And um He'll not depart from it.
SPEAKER_01That's what the word says. He he might venture and do some things that make your heart go, you know, fall to you, you know, to your to your knees, but eventually come around. You did, your daughters did. You know, it you know, my grandmother, if she was here, she'd look at me and says, You made it. I ain't made it completely, but I'm I'm I'm getting in there.
SPEAKER_04Well, I'm gonna tell this. Yeah, go ahead. And um then uh but uh the I feel like that it was meant for me to know this because that way I can teach somebody else something. I mean, you hear people talk about prayer and you talk uh you hear people talk about Jesus. I'm talking to the sinners, I'm talking to the ones that don't know about Jesus. Uh just because you're a sinner, it's not a bad thing. It's just you need to know about Jesus. And I'm gonna teach the people about Jesus because see, my brother, well, he was my cousin, but we broke grew up, he was my brother. And uh he got on drugs, and it kind of made us, you know, not close no more, uh, because I didn't want to take my family around that and I didn't want to go around that. And so we kind of blurred off. And I regret not being able to talk to him about Jesus. And I said I r I said right then, I'm gonna start telling people about Jesus because I don't want them to die and not know about Jesus. So um I want to try to tell everybody uh about Jesus. And you know, I want you to know that it is real. Uh because I was like three years old, and like I said, my papa passed away when I was when my mom was pregnant with me. So he never got to see me. And um he was a preacher, he was Rodolf Reimer. Um I I grew up being very proud of him. Um he um I was like three years old and he came to the foot of my bed. And it it's like a vague. But I knew it was him. I I I seen him and I knew it was him. And uh he spoke to me and he said, Now I don't want to scare you. And I said, Why would you scare me, Papa? Because I knew who he was. And he said, You know who I am? I said, Yes, Papa, I know who you are. And uh so he sat there and talked to me for a few minutes and and I wanted to wake my mama up because my mama missed him so much. And I said, Papa, let me wake mama up. No, I just came to see you. So from I knew that he went to heaven. And there is a heaven. Uh because Papa you know, I think that that's the reason the purpose that I've seen that is because so I can tell everybody it is real. I know because I've seen it. I've seen my Papa. And for me to be able to talk to him at the foot of the bed was amazing. And for him to let me know that he come from heaven. So um I just want to tell people, you know, you have choices. You don't have to live in sin. You don't have to live like, you know. There's better. I mean, when you get with Jesus and stuff like that, he changes your whole outlook. You don't want to do those things. It it's um and it's it's just like uh you don't get rich or nothing, but uh it's like it makes you b better off. Uh it gives you like if you need something, he's right there to make sure that you get it. Um he's just right on time. And the only I mean, the only thing that you have to do is say Jesus, please forgive me. If I've done anything wrong, just come in my heart. And he will. I mean, you asked and and he gives it to you. Um I just I just want to reach out to so many people.
SPEAKER_01And some people I just want to but it's the truth, you know, it is what it is. I understand that. Um But while I was out in sin, I I can remember times that I would see, I'd called on my ex-brothers and sisters, because they was, you know. I'd watch them come in the door and they knew the condition that I was in. Drunk, loud, obnoxious. And but I was screaming inside, just come and talk to me. Just keep going. So when I got when I come back to God, I'd rededicated my life. That's one thing that I said, Lord, if you send me, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna talk to whoever, do whatever it takes. Because there's somebody out there that was like me, that's just I they're saying physically, I don't want to talk to nobody, but really I know deep down inside, because I was there. Yeah. You know, I was screaming, talk to me, talk to me. Because I knew just a little bit of the word was enough to help me. It'd break me, bring me down to that humility, that humbleness that I needed. And uh, but no, they just kept walking. You know, and I do know there is times though that I have been in situations where God says, No, you don't talk to them yet. Right. But there is times that I'm gonna say 99.99% of the time we are to go to them. Because that is the will of God, you know, that none perish. And so we are to talk.
SPEAKER_04Well, see, my problem is is uh Jesus tells me to do stuff, and I just had hearing him hum around. Yeah. And I was sitting there one day, well, what if Jesus him hung around when you asked him something? What would we do?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04But it it's it's just like sometimes you just have to go outside your box and just let the Lord have his will. It's just like and now before I I don't I don't think I could ever s find myself doing this, but I went to a store and uh uh we started having church right there in the middle of the church. Amen. Started praying for this woman, and the spirit just flowed through, and it was just it was a it I felt like we had a meeting there in the well you know, God does give you boldness, he gives you that godly boldness.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, and I think that's worth the church lacks too, is that godly boldness. A lot of times we try to mistake it as our vain, you know, fleshly boldness, but it's really the godly boldness that sets us apart, that makes us different.
SPEAKER_04No, my uh my flesh is uh was shy and uh and uh behind the scenes. Yeah. Uh but God, he's wanting to put me in front of the scenes. He's made me bold. You know, he's made me do stuff that uh I didn't think I'd normally ever do. And uh it it's just it's amazing to sit back and watch the journeys that he's put me through and stuff like that. I mean I I mean I'm sitting here, you know, a dead woman talking, you know, if it'd been the devil's, you know, if it'd been up to the devil, I'd then been dead a long time ago.
SPEAKER_05Long time ago.
SPEAKER_04Um, even at birth, you know. Right. And uh but uh let me tell you this other story, and uh because it it it's amazing.
Oil, Boldness, And Fighting Back
SPEAKER_04Um I had this bottle of oil and uh I used it a lot and it was just uh I I used it on everybody. I mean it was just and uh if I found somebody, you know, struggling, I give them a little bit to take with them so they'd have it. And uh it it was just it was just my my lifeline right there was that oh I just I just used it for everything. Well, the devil decides to bust it.
SPEAKER_05Oh well.
SPEAKER_04I said, okay. So I go and I get me two bottles and I get them prayed over. Well, I go through them and I said, Well, I got me three bottles. So the other day I end I'm up to four bottles now.
SPEAKER_05I remember as I seen those.
SPEAKER_04So I just keep on going up. Next time it'll be five. Devil ain't gonna take me for my oil. And uh my sisters, they they they put their whole heart and spirit in them in them bottles of oil. And um Uh I that's the reason I like this shirt.
SPEAKER_03Oh I loved it the day that bottle of oil busted that was with her. And uh she said the devil's trying to get at me, the devil's trying to get at me. She said, Hold on, and she whipped the car around the middle of the road and where we went up the road and she went she went straight to the store and didn't say nothing. I I I kind of figured I know what she was gonna do. But when she came back out, she had two big old bottles. She said the devil ain't winning today. She said, We're gonna give him a black eye today. And honey, we went straight to the church with it and it got prayed over. She said, Now, devil, now devil try to take my oil.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna have to get you a five-gallon bucket of oil. Tap into that puppy.
SPEAKER_04But I mean it it's just amazing. Uh, you know, the devil tries to to do stuff and it's just like, no.
SPEAKER_01You're talking about a bottle of oil. My grandmother, I've got her bottle of oil that she had had when she was alive. And believe it or not, that thing still got oil in it. Yeah. It's never run dry. Well, it's been all across the country, flip-flopped around. It's a glass, one of the old glass bottles from the 70s, you know, though. And um, I'm telling you, even it's it still got oil in it.
SPEAKER_04Ain't that amazing? It is amazing. I had a little one like that, and I kept in my purse. And um, it was a sister at a church in Millsborough gave it to me, and I had it for a very long time. And it was just like when you would look in it, you wouldn't see no oil. But when you started putting it in your hand, there was oil coming on it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And I would never get rid of that bottle. And somehow the devil devil got rid of it. But he had oil up to it disappeared. And um I to this day I don't know where that oil went. The devil does, but Jesus brought more oil. So what what the devil thinks that he can take away, God doubles it. I mean, he he you ain't gonna do without.
SPEAKER_01Amen. All right, there's a testimony in it, so yes, yes.
SPEAKER_04I just I just can't praise him enough. And I just can't get his word out there enough.
SPEAKER_01I mean I find myself sometimes not I don't know the words to express how I feel towards him sometimes. I thought, Lord, there just there's not enough words that I can say or write down to really express how I really feel because I was knocking at death's door, literally knocking at death's door. Yeah. And like you, sister, just not once, but many, many times. Right. You know, I've been shot at, stabbed at. I mean, I'm some people try to torture me in a car one time. You know, even at birth, you know, I was giving up to die. And and still today, you know, with the heart attack, diabetes, you know, I I should have been dead a long time ago. But, you know, I I I do, I've got a drive to to speak to the lost because the labors are few. Yeah. The church is in in shambles. It really is.
SPEAKER_04Well, see, my diabetes, um uh I had I was on insulin and stuff like that, and I was on the pill and insulin. And my sisters prayed, and now I'm on one shot a week.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_01Amen to that. At one time in my walk, I thought I was healed. I went a whole year without taking insulin or anything. I had to go to the doctor, my A1C was like 14.9. Yeah, I was a I was about to knock it on Deaf Store then, you know, and it's one of those I, yep, I missed it, but you know. Uh, yeah, my sugar's bad.
SPEAKER_04Well, my doctor, he's they've got my my A1 down. Um it's I mean it's it's that's awesome. It's running like a hundred and some a nail. Sometimes it gets real low too. Yeah. But I don't take no other medicine but that.
SPEAKER_01I still look forward to the Lord just to say, hey, no more insulin shots, no more of this.
SPEAKER_04Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I am I'm am at the point too, though. You know what? I I'm with the Lord. I gotta die sometime in some way. You know, if you know, I I don't want to live with it.
SPEAKER_04I think it's it's when our work is done.
SPEAKER_01That's when our work is done. That's it. Yeah. I would like the Lord to heal me of my toothache. That's a lot worse than uh diabetes, you know.
SPEAKER_03Oh, toothache something else. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It is.
SPEAKER_04I remember them.
SPEAKER_03On a side note, uh a little off from the diabetes, I just one thing that I want to say. I love how that now, once me and me and her has made our transition and we've come up here and, you know, and we got God in our life every day and stuff, the like we go out to Walmart, you know, and we see people walking down the parking lot and there'd be cussing and going on. And I told her one day, I was like, you know what, two years ago, you know, that wouldn't have bothered us at you know at all, you know. And now just to hear somebody uh cussing like that, it bothers us so bad, you know, and we see how far we've come.
SPEAKER_01Amen.
SPEAKER_03And that that that there's food right there. It's Jesus food for me. I call it Jesus food. It is. And one thing we love to do, and I don't know if this is bad or not, but one thing me and her love to do, we love to absolutely when we come, when we get home, we sit down on the couch, we love to talk about all the goodness, all the all the things that God works in through the day. We you know, we'll we'll we'll be thinking at the same time and we'll just start sharing it to one another. I w I mean about how like God moved in this or God moved in that or how we got to help somebody today. Or, you know, what this prayer cloth meant to that person or whatever. You know, it just takes w we could be having the worst day ever, stressed out and everything. And all it takes is that one good God moment to knock that devil in the eye, and me and her, we'll sit there and we have a conversation for two hours about it. Well, you know, we we get hyped up and start feeling the whole thing. You know that's worship.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That's what they that's what you would say that worshiping truth. Spirit, you you're worshiping in God's testimony. You're you're telling each other, you know, what God is to for you guys.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, I love it because I forgot to black a devil's eye every time, every chance we get, you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, definitely.
SPEAKER_03We we just love we love conversating about that, you know, how that God moved in this or God moved in that, you know, or how that somebody's putting our path, you know, and we we try to figure out the roadmap there. Well, that's why God put us right there. That's why we were supposed to be right there today, or what this, that. And it always it always goes up to his grace.
SPEAKER_01Always his glory. That's right, always full circle right towards him.
SPEAKER_03And it makes it all worthwhile. Yes, definitely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, God is good. I love that. That is uh true. That is that is what you call spirit and in truth. That is true worship. And you know, you just sit there and you just before you know it, two or three hours have passed and you're giving God all the glory.
SPEAKER_03Right. And it can be down to the littlest, you know, littlest thing that you know most people would be like, oh, that's no big deal. But to, you know, from our walk to where we was to where we are now, I'm not saying, you know, everybody, you know, has their transition, but it makes us feel good to know that, you know, we're on his side of the the tracks now. We're we're you know, we're on the Jesus side of it.
SPEAKER_01That is a big deal. It is for me. I know that. Because I'm like you, I I hate going into a store nowadays. I don't like living like a hermit. I don't want to be unsociable, but you know, you're walking down the aisle and then you see somebody that's got their Rocky Mountains all hanging out, and you know, I'm just gonna be honest with you, you know, or you've got you got Joe Blow over here, he's cussing up a storm. You're like, are their kids even? You know, and they don't even say nothing to disrespectful. Yes. I was like, if that had been me, you know, the mom would have jerked me up by the hair of my head and beat me right in front of all of creation, you know, and but it's just like I I do, I I thank God for those moments.
SPEAKER_03I do I think it keeps kind of as Christian, so to speak, I think it kind of keeps us in check daily.
SPEAKER_01I think it's God reminding you. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I didn't know the word it, but I mean, yeah, it's kind of like he look gives you a little, you know, and it's good that you can see that from, you know, once you turned your life over to God that that he allows you to be able to see with them eyes versus your old eyes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was just here recently. I'd had some problems with my vehicle, and I'm going down the road and it starts to break down. I'm panicking, I'm reverting back to my old self. I'm trying to think of what to do here. That you know, and Lord just says, I've got everything under control. Don't worry about it. And then, you know, in the long here, just in the long what we're talking about now is God says, you know, let me show you who I am. Yes, let me show you what I can do. Let me remind you. Yes. You know, it's like, God, you know, I've been serving you, I've been reading your word, I've been doing it. Yes. Yeah, you just reminded me, let me remind you who I am. And uh, I think God does that. He gives us those little reminders like you used to be like that, ain't you glad you're not no more?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's how we are all time, ain't it? Yeah. We love it.
SPEAKER_04That's amen. Oh, I am so glad I wouldn't. She's got her Bible out. She's about to share some word with. I'm not I'm not too keen on uh uh a lot of people that you know they can quote the Bible, you know, just like that. Yeah. Um I kind of like struggle. I mean, I say here, um, I'm like you on fidgeting. Well, I'm like that on reading. I just um I never got the into the reading part. Right. So the Lord fixed that. Amen. So um he'll he'll give me something to read every once in a while, or if I need something, he'll he'll just tell me to go to it. Or he'll he'll just point me there. Yeah. And uh I guess so I don't have to read the whole thing, he just gives it to me. But um what I want to get out there is the power of Jesus. I mean you're you're all time hearing the power devil or the devil's evil. Let's talk about the power. You know, because if you got the power, you don't have to worry about the devil. Because Jesus is always gonna win. So it says right here, therefore, if the enemy is hungry, fade him. If he's thirsty, give him something to drink for inside there shall he put the coals on fire upon his head, but not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. So we need to keep in mind uh all this evil out there. Even when I'm out in town, if I say something evil, I pray about it. Because it's the only way you're gonna change it. Prayer changes everything. Um He tells us in the book of what we need to do, but he also tells us in our hearts. He also shows us the things that we need to do. Um I I just sometimes I just want I wished I had it just I want to grab a hold of them and just let 'em feel what I feel inside of me, you know. Um, so they could just get a taste of what I've you know, what I feel. And it would change their mind. And I I'm like Brother John, sometimes you you need jerk them up. You just need a club or something.
SPEAKER_01But no, uh just like really think about it. We was all raised on the streets. Just jerk them up, he'll be all right. It just needs a knot on my head, just a little bit. Just slap some holy oil.
SPEAKER_03That's it. We sat in one night, and that's what she said. She said, you know, she said, I need to ask the pastor about this. She said, if I got oil on my hands, she said, Nice, just slap them. Because I want I want so badly for them to know Jesus.
SPEAKER_01Amen.
SPEAKER_03Can I slap it into them? She said, I'm gonna ask the pastor if that's all right. I said, You get right on that.
SPEAKER_01I'll tell you what, though, if the Lord tells you to do it, do it.
SPEAKER_04I know what Brother John would say. He'd say, uh, you need to go back to that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, I can see that. Right there's the altar. Hey, we all rough necks here though. We could take a slap or two. They have been in many a times, like I was telling you earlier, that I I I wish they would have slapped me. Yeah.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_01I mean I I'll be I'll be honest with you. Just come up and just co-cock me right in the jaw and just say, hey, brother, this is this is what you need. Yeah. Because would I woke up? Probably not, but just for a second, I don't know. But there have been many a times that I kind of wish my mom was around just to say, hey, wow, you know.
SPEAKER_04Well, you know, I sit around and think, uh, what what woke me up? You know, what what was it that caught my eye? Because, you know, if you sit and think about what caught your eye, maybe that'll catch somebody else's eye. Yeah. And I'm sitting here going, Jesus is the only thing I know. It it was just his time, I guess.
SPEAKER_01It's not so much as what we can do, it's through the Holy Spirit that brings because that the Holy Spirit is what draws them in. We're just the vessel. But I tell you what, though, Lord, if once me to go slap somebody to be that vessel, I'll do it. I agree with you 100%, sister. I do. Well, sometimes you just Death is what got
When Death Feels Close
SPEAKER_01me. You just wonder. I can remember coming back. I can remember the Lord just flat telling me, James, if you if you don't come back, you're gonna die. That's just plain and simple. He told me in scriptures that I do, I that I understood what he was saying. You can be one of those that just helps enlarge hell. And I would have been. And I believe that night, if I hadn't prayed, I would have died that night, without a shadow of a doubt. That's how much confident I felt death. I had actually felt death. I did too. Yeah. And even after I'd gotten saved, I still felt death. But the more I kept serving God, and the more I kept praying and reading, I kept feeling that spirit of death just further and further away from me. And there have been times, even when I was laying on that operating table, because I was wide awake when I was doing my going through my heart and doing all that stuff, I had peace. Even though death was there, I didn't care about it. But I think though I was like, I s Lord, I still got some things to say or do.
SPEAKER_04Amen. Yeah. It's just like when he puts me on the spot and wants me to speak out and stuff like that. I'm saying, well, I I I'm gonna have to learn to just do it because I ended up having to do it anyway. So I might as well just do it. But it's still it's scary. It is. Um but I don't know if for some reason he gave me peace this week. So I'm real I'm really thankful for that.
SPEAKER_06Um I just I I just want I choose to do his work.
SPEAKER_04And and I just I just want to do what he wants me to do. And it's just like I started writing down stuff that uh that I wanted to say today and then I just thought, no. It's not I don't want to write down on paper of what I think that needs to say.
SPEAKER_01I think there's sometimes we have to shoot from the hip.
SPEAKER_04I wanted him to say what needed to be said. Because just like you said, it's not we can beat 'em half to death to try to get 'em saved, but the spirit has to save them. And it's whatever this Jesus knows what brings them in. And when we work for him, then he's gonna put it in our in our hearts to say what's gonna bring them in.
SPEAKER_01Right, right.
SPEAKER_04And I feel like that. And um it's just like um when I was in church um I've I've been in in church out um all my life. Um I was working in the church really good and the devil, you know, he puts rocks in our path and we start slacking and uh I had one guy t uh one uh member of the church to tell me that he seen fire under my feet and it wasn't too long after that I was out of the church. Uh wasn't going to church. And um I that's something that stuck by me. And I'm I'm just I'm waiting on to that day because you know, if he's seen it once, he'll see it again. And uh I don't think the brother's with us no more. I think he passed away, but um I'm still holding on to that. Um but um I I think we're I think that if we just listen to him and and um do what he tells us to do, it's gonna reach so many people. And uh it it's just like the devil he he he likes to put stuff in your way but I also like to tell him I like giving him a black eye too. Um it's just like a lot of times I get up and I'm running here and there and I don't I ain't got five minutes to myself or whatever, and uh it's on a church night. I gotta do this and do this before I get to go to church, and I'm sitting here going, Sh I really feel like going. Yeah. It's just like just like you said, well, I can just watch it live. That's what the devil tells you. Well, you can just watch it live. No, I gotta be there. I need to be there. And when I find myself to where I don't feel like going, I'll go or I'll go. Devil's not going to keep me from going.
SPEAKER_05See, I'm not I'm not one that can miss church. I can't need Once I miss a few times it it gets easier and easier and easier and more excuses and I'll start falling apart. I know me.
SPEAKER_04Well it was just like when um I know me. It's just like when uh we didn't have church at at our church. Um I had to go to another church. And uh because I I'm like I I I just couldn't miss not going to church. And uh it's not that you get in the routine or you know, church is not gonna take you to heaven, but I mean it's it's being with this uh It's the fellowship. Yeah, it's the family. Obedience. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's the worship.
SPEAKER_04It's the la it's the love of Jesus, you know.
SPEAKER_01What is church? I'm glad you said that. You know, the Lord does actually command us to to congregate together. And why do we come to church? You know, the scriptures. come back to my mind with you know when uh Elijah was brought from the grave. Who took not Elijah, I'm sorry. Um I tongue twisted. Um I hate when that happens, don't you? I really do. But um give him a black eye. Yeah give him a black eye tongue twisted. See the enemy knows. And you know the ch the church is for us. Right. We are to gather and help each other. See our testimonies. When you guys come up there and you share what little bit God has given you, you're sharing something more greater than going up there and speaking 45 to 30 minutes. Can ever do. That little bit that there is enough hope that, you know, and what does Christ say? You know, a little bit of a grain of a mustard seed, you know, can move an entire mountain. Just that little bit of word, that little bit of hope. You know that the church is there to help our brothers and sisters to take off those great those grave clothes to teach them like, hey, I've been through depression, I've been through alcoholism, I've been through drug addiction, you know, I've had you know my doubts and my unbeliefs. Let me show you how God had helped me through it. We give God the glory and honor for everything that He has done. Amen. Praise God. Yes Glory to God Yeah I'm still having that brain fart there but you know um God is good. Oh he's amazing.
SPEAKER_04Yes he is oh he sh he's I mean I have watched him do stuff that is j it's just so amazing um in my lifetime. Um I've I've went with two kids and not have a m uh not have nothing to fix a full meal with and it's like you know he knows your struggles and what do you do? You go out you got people coming in with groceries and stuff like that and and let me tell you Southern pride you didn't say a word but Jesus did. Yes you know Southern pride you ain't gonna tell nobody that you don't have no food. Amen but Jesus but Jesus knows.
SPEAKER_05Yeah you know that that reminds me of a a little story that I'd used in one of my messages um I can't think of the man's name but it was a long time ago this man ran a little small orphanage. There was about twenty twenty five kids and they had got down to nothing to eat. And he called all these kids together and he said let's pray and thank God for what we do have. And so he gets them all at the table. Now they're ready these kids are ready to eat but he's saying let's pray and thank the Lord for what we do have. So these kids this man and these kids sit at this table and they start praying and they start praying next somebody knocks on the door now there was nothing to fix these kids. Next thing you know this man knocks on the door and he says hey listen the bakery last night made a bunch of extra bread and we have nothing to do with it. And I thought I'd come see if you guys wanted it. Woo praise the Lord. Amen well it wasn't so so they're thanking God for the bread and he's passing the bread out to somebody else and this is a long time ago so it was in when the horse and buggies drove around with ice in the back and they had milk on it. So this this man pulls up and and he knocks on the door they're thanking God for the bread this man knocks and he he he tells the the guy running the shelter he says hey listen this this this thing out here is messed up I don't know what we're gonna I can't even get the rest of the milk out. They did it by horse and buggy back then. That's how long ago it was you know what praise the Lord he brought up there. So the Lord knows the Lord knows he's right there. He don't neglect he don't let you down. Yeah you just have to you know I walked in church last Sunday feeling kind of down on myself and I wasn't questioning God but I was I told Sister Rebecca sitting beside me I said have you ever just felt like when you've moved away from the Lord and you just can't get back to where you were yeah you just feel like you're having the hardest time and I hadn't told that to anybody but her and that was before church even started. Well lo and behold I get we get up there singing and praying and here comes Tammy Joe she comes over and I see her go get Sister Serena. I see them they anointed themselves and come over they prayed for me and you know the Lord said to me behind I hate Sister Tammy was behind my back praying and the Lord said be ready for this he the Lord told me through her the Lord said you know what they're gonna say this ain't this ain't this is the old ass she ain't got nothing but the Lord told me through Tammy be ready for this because you're gonna meet opposition so the Lord's telling me right there you know what don't worry about this I got this praise God.
SPEAKER_04And so I just went in feeling bad about myself oh yeah I didn't even really have to talk to him he knew well see another thing too that we we got to remember when we get saved because I had I I had to deal with this myself uh because I always felt bad um of going you know letting myself go back in the world um stray away or not so much stray away is just to g go numb or to just um yeah yeah um there's probably a better word for it um we just I tell you what Satan he's trying to he's trying to clear our minds and it ain't gonna work is it?
SPEAKER_03No I rebuke him I rebuke that devil in the name of Jesus and he cannot win the name of Jesus I'm gonna give him a black eye agree with you I'm with you sister but you know the devil knows God's work and he tries to stop it but he can't uh God's gonna get it out there some way somehow God's gonna way or the other oh yeah yeah you know that's crazy because I was literally just sitting here thinking about that how that you know people think that just because you're in a church that you're safe you're not safe from the devil trying to mess up what you're trying to do for the Lord.
The Devil In The Church House
SPEAKER_03I mean you know it's just like uh is D talks about you know getting nervous and uh you know getting up in front of people and stuff or he's got something to say well you know that devil tries to talk you right out of it and you know us as Christians and people in church need to know more than anybody is the sinner, the lost or whoever that the devil that's you know you think you're safe in church you're not no safer there is you and I'm I'm not I'm not saying don't get me wrong but church is church. That's where we go to fellowship and worship. But if you think for one second that the devil ain't gonna come right up in the church house right there wiki to the pulpit to the altar and try to talk you away from God that he won't do it. He's gonna try. But you know glory to God we got God today. We know we know who the father and the king is and that's the reason why we come out on top because we're gonna give him black eye every chance we get I have seen more manifestations of the devil himself in church than I'll be honest with you that I've seen when I was out in the world.
SPEAKER_01Just pure out boldness from the devil just manifest himself in church every type of sin.
SPEAKER_04He's not afraid no he he's not he needs to be he needs to be amen he needs to be I tell you what folks listening if you could see her expression when she said that that right there tells the tale right there he needs to be yeah he needs to be he does he does because the power if people could just feel the power you know that they wouldn't be scared. I know they wouldn't be scared of the devil because he gives you enough power to you can over if you can come over death you can come over him.
SPEAKER_01That's what the whole teaching is about God about Christ is we have nothing to fear but you know we don't right i it who do we fear is the one that that can put us in death in hell and destroy the body that's scripture yeah I mean the only way that we can uh be defeated is if you know Jesus leaves us and he's not gonna do that. If you give yourself up to the devil you serve the devil there there there is your there's your defeat. You leave him yep and uh I I don't I I thank God that he gave me a second chance when I walked over that blood. Oh yeah because you know when I'd come back before I'd come back to God God had given me a little short dream and in that dream I was standing in front of some people and I had I'd mentioned this I think it was on one of my podcasts that I got up and but I had blood on me all the way from the head to the soles of my feet and I looked at my hands and they was dripping in blood and I wasn't saved. I was you're out in sin and uh woke up I knew exactly what that meant and you know and and I heard the Spirit say James there's there's blood required on your hands and it wasn't long after that I I give my heart to the Lord and I and I thank God for it. And that's why I do what I do and that's why I I'm so avid about you know like you I could I could tell you about Jesus. Let me tell you about Jesus what he can do. Not what I can do it's what Jesus can do. Yes. The church house ain't gonna fall on you. It's just a lie right from the pits of hell come on in right amen we'll pray right here with you at and if you don't want to do a long drug out prayer he says whosoever calleth upon the name of the Lord you just say the name of Jesus Christ you shall be saved.
SPEAKER_04That's right I am a firm believer in that too well see and um that's another thing too I'm going to uh mention is you know when we get saved and stuff like that uh we ask God to forgive us for for you know our sins and stuff but see another thing too we gotta learn to forgive ourselves because a lot of times you know we're we're fighting over stuff that we need to forgive ourselves for that God's had already forgotten because we asked him to forgive us and we're still still sitting over here dwelling on it.
Forgiving Yourself And Building Relationship
SPEAKER_04Right. And so we need to start learning to forgive ourselves.
SPEAKER_01Right. I have to say when I forgive people and I have to say Lord I forgive myself too yeah I do because I sit there and I'll dwell on it and let it eat at me and and all of a sudden I'm going down this guilt trip you know this road and I like then I'm feeling worse than what I did. I was like I this is horrible you know I don't want to do this. And you know we've already prayed to ask forgiveness for it you know but still we're sitting here he casts what does he say he forgets it he casts it as far as the east is to the west what is the far as the east to the west it's just it's a constant where'd it go?
SPEAKER_04Yeah once you ask forgiveness it's gone so you know we need to learn you know it's not that easy. I wish we could do that you know forget that it's gone. I try to uh I'm learning yeah I I'm still I'm still learning in this journey and a lot of times I just like to sit and uh think about stuff and just sink it you know let it sink in of the journeys that I've been through the relationship and see that's the that's the biggest thing. It it's not religion. It's not well I'm a Christian. No I have a relationship with Jesus.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_04Amen it's the relationship that you have with him. Um Sister Deb I can't have him a relationship with him like you do because that's your time. Uh we have to have our own relationship and see that's the thing of it uh that's the reason that you ha you have a choice of you know do you want to have a relationship with him uh or do you want to live in the world? Um to me I want a relationship I wouldn't give nothing up for my relationship uh it's taken me a lot of years to get to my relationship uh I worked for my relationship um and see that that's the thing you have to work for your relationship um just like you have to work at anything um just like um when you make a bad choice you have to you have to work for it you have to do you have to go you know like my mama said you did the kind a try you did the crime you're gonna do the time so um God is he he's just so amazing. I mean if you could just i if people would just realize the maze stuff that he does uh that we you know we get we wouldn't be able to keep 'em from running to the altar. Uh that's what I want to get out there. I want people running to the altar. Uh I want them to start getting what I have.
SPEAKER_01Well that goes back to what I was telling you and I kind of like lost my words there for a minute. But you know when Lazarus come out of the tomb who took the gravecloth of Lazarus it was the church it was the people you know Christ did the initial healing brought them back from the dead like he did with us with sin. But it was the church that helped them it was the church that says here the brother let me take these nasty stinking sin off of you is it's death and that you're ex it's what we're here to do.
SPEAKER_04So you just gave devil black eye you got it out there.
SPEAKER_01Amen praise the Lord I agree with I love it when it works like that. I was sitting here and I was like well yeah it's it's going to come to me and it did. Yeah I thank God I I enjoyed you on the show. Well thank you I did both uh both you and your husband I enjoyed you much really um because when I listen to people when I started doing this and I'd had people on the show I was like Lord I'm not gonna relate to none of these people there's no possible way I can relate but everybody I've had on the show there's been some way somehow that I relate to them somehow that our testimony merges together and believe it or not we're just alike believe it or not now you might have done a little bit more or a little bit less than me but I'm nobody who's here to flex muscle. Right we've all sinned and we've all fallen short of the glory of God and see that's what God has been teaching me. He says we're all alike we've all sinned we've all fallen short. Right and we all have to help somebody and that's what it's all about.
SPEAKER_04Well another thing too um it's just like dealing with the world too I mean I every night I have to ask God if I done anything wrong please forgive me for anything that I've done because you know I don't want to sin and not know it. Yeah but um because there's a there's a few times that I've really wanted to blow my holy gasket um just over and you know the devil tries to push you buttons too.
SPEAKER_01Yes but he pushes mine when I'm at the grocery store. Yeah and they're bagging my groceries and I'm like okay I know I laugh about it now but they it's been many a times I had to go back in the store and just look I'm sorry but yeah I'm upset but I shouldn't have acted that way. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_04Well my daughter she's she's she's not real good on hiding her emotions neither when she gets well see now when before she uh came to the Lord now uh I it wouldn't have surprised me if I got a c a call from the police th that she smacked somebody because she's real bad she had a temper she's she's got a real bad temper. And uh they say that it come for me but I just don't see it. But she's good now and and I I I'm amazed by her. She's she's accomplished so much and um she's good she's got a real good relationship with the Lord. And she's working for him. And uh she's tried to make a career uh so she can work for him. And that just that warms my heart. And it's amazing.
SPEAKER_01To see a zeal like that it is amazing.
SPEAKER_04Oh she's an inspiration I believe um yeah uh she's trying to she's trying to get to where when she was broken that she got fixed and she's trying to fix the world more or less she she wants to go she sees a great need.
SPEAKER_01Yeah and and you know and if you guys know the story about Nehemiah when he w looked at the wall there was a great need there and he and he cried and you know with to the Lord it's like with your daughter and it's like with
Why We Gather And Serve Together
SPEAKER_01me and you and Deb and and John here we there's a great need in the church that needs to be dealt with and uh that's one reason why I do this podcast because I see that there's a need that people need to hear from the blue collar nine to five top people you know your average Joe I mean you got your one or two percenter out there that's got this phenomenal testimony. That's great. I love them. But I want to hear from the people that you know every day that it is keeping the lights on. You know that it's doing the nine to five jobs you know just because that's your workhorse. You know that's that's your twelve apostles right there, you know.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And they was just as blue collar as we was well see that one job that she was uh that she was uh going that she was working and stuff like that uh she was able to talk to people about Jesus and stuff like that but she really wanted to get out there and see now she's got her own meetings on parties and um I don't it's amazing. It's um wholeness huh?
SPEAKER_05Wholeness outreach.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And yeah I plugged her on the show a few times you know talking about it you know yeah she's uh it it's a really amazing group and see the devil tried to keep it to where there wasn't that many was coming and um now there was quite a few wasn't they was a nice little crowd last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah and uh so it's growing uh I just need everybody to pray for it you know uh because uh devil tried to stop it several times and it it didn't work we gave him black eyes and um so we're just we're just uh continuing try to give the devil black eyes and stuff and and um uh just you know if you've got a relationship with the Lord and stuff uh the uh only the only way that you're gonna get reach these people is if uh you're out in the store or something.
SPEAKER_01Well that goes back to the scriptures the Lord says take it to the highways and to the highways and to compel them to come in. Yeah it's we can speak to them in the church house there's nothing wrong with that but you're when we have the tent revival coming up you'll be surprised the amount of people that will come to the tent revival. Yeah I can't wait before they'll even enter into the house. I'm so excited oh it's gonna be awesome it is yeah yeah because that was one of the first ministries I started in you know uh where I played music and stuff and and uh it was a street ministry and I was heavy in it it was week after week after week after week not a break and those are the people that they wouldn't come to the house of God but they will sit in their car or they'll stand outside their car and they'll listen yeah they'll listen and you see them raise their hands when altar time comes or they need prayer.
SPEAKER_04Yeah well another thing too of a lot of times and when I'm praying and stuff like that a tip that my grandmother my mama always told me because I asked her one time I said Mama I said when you pray I said why do you hold your hands up and uh she said well I'm praising him and I'm praying to him and if you don't raise your hands up how's he gonna give you what you want?
SPEAKER_01He fills your cup.
SPEAKER_04Yeah so when I pray I I I just hold my hands up and that away if he's got anything that he wants to give me I'm I'm ready for it.
SPEAKER_01Well you know that you ever watch the storm come through the leaves up themselves. Yeah you know it's to get a little bit more than what they normally get. Yeah. And we are to do the same thing. Yeah. Fill me up Lord Amen at preach. Yes I love it and quite I have really enjoyed your testimony. Thank you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah I really have you got any more to say I think it'll about do it for this time.
SPEAKER_01And uh your husband uh John I would definitely like to have you on the show in future pray about it think about it and uh and uh we'll get up and uh now we're not married yet well yeah we're we're close but okay then I apologize I that's all right we were engaged okay then uh former or not former but future husband but uh no I didn't know I thoroughly enjoyed uh both of you guys here I was just wanting to let the Lord just do what he wanted to do and you obeyed the Lord and that's that's the awesome thing.
