If you’ve ever thought, “I’ll get serious about God later,” this message is your wake-up call. We open with one piercing question: if Jesus returned before the end of this podcast, would you be ready, not hopeful, not guessing, but truly ready to meet the One who gave His life for you? Sister Deb Osmond keeps it straight, pastoral, and urgent without trying to predict dates or stir fear.

We talk about how easily we prepare for everything except eternity: retirement plans, vacations, even emergencies, while neglecting the one appointment every person keeps. We dig into the difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Jesus, and we ask the kinds of questions that expose what’s unfinished in our hearts: unforgiveness, delayed repentance, unspoken apologies, prayer we keep postponing, and a faith we keep scheduling for “tomorrow.”

Deb also connects real-life disaster preparedness to spiritual preparedness, then turns to Matthew 24 and the warnings Jesus gave so we would watch, stay alert, and live ready. You’ll hear a clear call to move from busy to fruitful, from complaining to praise, from grudges to grace, and from passive belief to daily obedience. We close with a prayer that these words would penetrate hearts and produce lasting change.

If this helped you, subscribe so you don’t miss what’s next, share it with someone you love, and leave a review so more people can find Bible Talk. What does “being ready” look like in your life right now?

The Readiness Question That Matters

SPEAKER_02

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. It's so awesome to be able to be here and to talk about the word of God. Wow. I just love it. So the message I have today is not very long. I don't think. It's not nor not normally anyway. Not like the other ones. But it's straight and to the point. I'm going to start with some a question. Actually, I have a few questions that you're going to hear me ask. And they're questions that I hope you take these questions to heart and ponder on them, okay? The first question I want to ask is today, I don't want you to answer out loud. I want you to ponder the questions and think about them very seriously. The question I want to ask you is, if Jesus come before this message was over, would you be ready? Not, I'm not asking you, do you hope to be ready? I'm not asking you, do you think you're ready? Do you think so? I'm asking you, would you be ready to look into the eyes of the one who gave his life on the cross for you? You know, the thing about it is we spend our lives preparing for things. We spend our lives uh uh preparing for retirement, uh preparing for vacations when that time comes around, preparing for weddings. And yes, we do spend some time preparing for funerals. But my question today, another question is, and you're gonna find a lot of questions in this in this message, the the question is, are we preparing for the appointment that each and every one of us will most definitely keep? And that is the day that we will stand before Jesus. Now, probably you're thinking, well, here she goes again with another one of those Jesus is coming messages. Well, you're right. Here I go again. And I try to do one of these at least once a month or every other month or so. But you know what? If the Lord laid it on my heart, people, to do it every day or every other week, I would do it. You know why? I would. It wouldn't bother me at all. You know why? Because eternity depends on it. Everybody's eternity, your eternity depends on it. Because Jesus is coming. Whether we believe it or not, he's coming. And his coming isn't dependent on public opinion. Uh look how public opinion did before. In in the days of Noah, public opinion laughed at Noah until it started to rain. So, you know, people today they say, well, you know, they've been saying that Jesus is coming for 2,000 years. And you're right, we've he we've heard it all the time. Still hear it. I remember hearing it when I was a kid uh and years and years ago. Uh but friends, let me tell you something. Listen, God's clock has never stopped. Because every single sunrise is one day closer. Every single heartbeat is one heartbeat closer. And you know, the greatest, the the greatest tragedy about all this is it's not the dying, it's being unprepared. Now, most people attend church weekly. Many people, you know, they know a lot about the Bible. I've I've seen people just, man, just know everything there is to know and every word and can just bring scripture right up off of their heads. I've I've heard people do that. Uh, you know, and and and many of us

Preparing For Eternity Not Comfort

SPEAKER_02

had Christian parents that instilled the word in us. But listen to me, friends. None of those things is gonna save us. I don't care how much you know the word, I don't care how much you've memorized Scripture, I don't care how much you think you know the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, none of those things is gonna save us. Because you see, Jesus never said, Did you Jesus is not gonna ask you, Did you know about me? He's gonna say, Did you know me? And that, my friend, is two different, completely different questions. To know about Jesus and to know him is two different things. And so since I'm asking questions, imagine standing before Jesus tonight. What are gonna be s what is some of the things that's gonna go through your head? Are you gonna wish that you would have prayed more? Are you wish that are you gonna wish that you would have forgiven sooner? Maybe love deeper? Are you gonna wish that you would got out of your chair, turned your TV off, and I'm talking to me too, and witnessed more boldly, taking the word of God more out there? You see, the thing about it is we spend Do you wish okay, you let me put it to you like this. Do you wish you would have spent less you're gonna wish you would have spent less time chasing things that are temporary, the things of the world, instead of preparing to meet the Lord. And you think about it is, is when you do stand in front of him, though the the regrets that's gonna go through your mind, it's not gonna be the things that we did. You're probably more than likely the regrets are gonna be about the things that you didn't do, the things that you kept putting off. Well, I'm gonna try to go to church tomorrow or next Sunday. I'm gonna pray for people tomorrow. I'm not gonna pray, I'm gonna pray for people tomorrow, you know. I'm gonna get in the word of God and open up the word tomorrow. Man, listen to me. We can't keep putting things off because we don't know when the Lord is gonna step out on that cloud. We don't know that. You know, if Jesus came before this podcast was even over, would what would be left unfinished in your life? You know? What apology would you wish you'd have made? What prayer would you have wished you'd have prayed? What sin would you'd have wished that you had laid at the foot of the cross? People ask yourself, what would matter then that doesn't seem to matter today? You know the thing about it is some people spend so much of their lives preparing to live that they spend very little time preparing to meet God.

Disaster Preparedness And Spiritual Preparedness

SPEAKER_02

You know, uh I was a I used to be uh uh an instructor for the Department of Homeland Security. I was a volunteer instructor. There was a bunch of us, and every few months we would go in the neighborhood associations, we would go into uh uh schools, we would go into community buildings, we would go into all kinds of places, and we would teach people, we would teach classes on how to prepare for a tornado or a flood or any kind of a disaster that could possibly happen in that area. We would have these classes. I would teach these people how to throw together a to-go bag and have extra medicine, extra clothes, extra food, extra water, extra food that's not gonna ruin. Throw all these things into a bag and throw them under your bed and leave them there. And if a disaster happens or if an earthquake comes, uh grab that bag and go. We even taught them how to do to-go bags for everybody in the family, plus their dogs and cats. Yeah. We did this. I enjoyed it. I I love telling, showing people the things that they could do to help take care of themselves in the event of a disaster. Okay. But they're so there the the the thing that we need to be preparing ourselves for if we sit and watch at all the things that's going on around us, all of the craziness and all of the signs that we are seeing going on around us, but we don't think one thing about being prepared for that. Now, you know, you you some of you guys are probably thinking, wow, that's too many questions. And and you know what? It it may be. You may think that it is, but listen to me, friends. You need to think about each and every one of those questions that I ask you. You need to ponder them in your heart and ask yourself, am I ready? Am I am I prepared? Because you know what? It's reality. It's reality. Jesus is coming someday. And we don't know when. Okay? And friends, let me tell you something. This message that I'm talking about today, this isn't about frightening anybody. It's not about predicting dates. I mean, Jesus Himself told us, he said that no one knows the day or the hour. Today's message is about being ready whenever that day comes. My friends, he's coming. And our question is, another question is are we looking? Are we watching? Jesus told us in Matthew 24, 42, he said to watch therefore, for ye know not what hour that your Lord doeth come. Amen. We don't know. It's just like death. We don't know when our time in front of this line is gonna be. I I look at even death, I look at at us standing in a long, long line, big long line, each and every one of us. And when we get up to the front of that line, that is my day, that's my name being called, it's my time in the front of that line. I can't get out of it, I can't sidestep it and let the people behind me go. I have that is an appointment that I, each and every one of us, are gonna have to go through. You know, I know there's a lot of Christians out there that believe Jesus is coming. But my friends, listen to me. Believing He's coming and living like He's coming is two different things. Because we can't be almost saved, we can't be almost forgiven, we cannot be almost ready because almost will not cut it. Almost does not open heaven, almost is not enough. So, my friends, think about this. What would Jesus find when he returns? Is he gonna find you arguing or is he gonna find you loving people? Is he gonna find you complaining about every single thing going on around you, or is he gonna find you praising him and thanking him for the things that you do have? Is he gonna find you

Almost Saved Is Not Enough

SPEAKER_02

holding grudges or extending grace? Is he gonna find you living for ourselves or serving others? Because what did he do on his last night? And he knew, he knew his time was coming. He knew what tomorrow was gonna bring. And what did he do? He spent his time serving others. Is he gonna find you busy or is he gonna find you fruitful? Think about it. Because there is another huge difference between busy people and fruitful people. Amen. All I'm trying to tell you today, brothers and sisters, is listen, don't be so busy living and trying to live this crazy life and trying to hold on to things of this world that is disappearing. The Bible said heaven and earth was gonna go away. Don't spend your time busy trying to live that you forget to prepare. Because Jesus promised us in John 14 and 3, he promised us that he was going to come back, that he was going to receive believers to himself. He said he goes to prepare a place for us. Friends, he's coming back. He's coming back. One day, one day soon, that last prayer is going to be prayed. One day soon, the very last song that you'll ever hear in church is going to be sung. The very last message is going to be preached, and the last soul that the Lord has been waiting on is going to walk up to that altar, and then what? A trumpet is going to sound. A trumpet is going to pierce eternity, and the eastern sky is going to open. And my friends, the King of Kings that we preached about, the Savior that we sung about in church, the Jesus who wore a crown of thorns, the Jesus who has the nail-scarred hands. That same Jesus who gives us life and gives us breath. He is going to come. He's going to step out on that cloud and he's going to come. And trust me, friends, when he gets here, he is not going to ask you how successful you were. He's not going to ask you how much money you made. He's not going to ask you how popular you became. He's going to look into your eyes. I'm telling you what, the only thing that's going to matter is whether you know him as your personal savior. That's the only thing that's going to matter is if you were ready. Is if you gave your life to him. That's the only thing that's going to matter when you stand before him. And you know what? We say we want Jesus to come. Churches all over America say, even so come, Lord Jesus, as the last few verses, I think, in Revelation is even so come, Lord Jesus, we sing about his return, we preach about his return, we read about his return. But my friends, ask yourself this are you ready to meet Jesus? Are you ready for him to come? We say we are.

Warnings From Matthew 24

SPEAKER_02

What if we would have known about the day before? What if we would have known what was going to happen on the Titanic? Or Pearl Harbor, for that matter. Or or you know what, 9-11. Or the tsunami in the Indian Ocean. What if we knew all of those disasters? What if we knew the day before? All of that was going to happen. And I want you to please consider that important, the importance of knowing what was coming. I want you to consider how important it would have been because we would have had a chance to heed the w heed the warning, right? If we would have known about that event, these events the day before, we would have changed the way that we lived, right? We would have changed the actions that we took, right? Like September 11th. If we knew September the 10th, what was going to happen that morning on September the 11th, we wouldn't have gone in the building, right? If we knew that day before the tsunami in the Indian Ocean, we we would have went to higher ground, right? We would have we would have went and got on top of Pine Mountain, right? The Titanic, if we would have known the day before that the Titanic was going to hit an iceberg and and and and sink, we wouldn't have got on that ship. Amen. Well, friends, listen to me. In Matthew 24, Jesus gave us a series of warnings. Beginning in Matthew 24. He tells us to watch and be alert. He gives us a list. The whole chapter is telling us signs to watch for. Why? Why did he tell us about those signs? Because he wants us to be ready. He gave us a whole list of signs, and I believe he even we're gonna say that he called them the beginning of sorrows, is what he said. The beginning of sorrows. Amen. He gave us that list because he wants us to be ready. He wants us to read that. Read Matthew 24. Look at what's coming. Now, if we think about those disasters that I mentioned here, the those those awful days, the unsinkable Titanic, the Indian Ocean tsunami, and the World Trade Center, no one on those days before could imagine what was going to happen the next day. Nobody would have known. Nobody. And if we had have known, like I said, we would have changed things drastically. Well, my friends, that is precisely how it's going to be right before Jesus comes. Read Matthew 24. And when you read Matthew 24, I hope you I hope it hits your mind that wow, he's really trying to get the point across to us. That's what he's doing. Friends, he wants you to know. Now, you may ask me, why are you telling us this? Well, I'm trying to give you a very loving warning to be ready. See, Paul told us in his in the word, Paul said we don't preach as people pleasers or tickle someone's ears, right? Remember all that? I'm telling you what God loves, and that's the truth. The situation is urgent right now. Friends, countless souls are going into eternity every single day. All around us. Our friends, our family, every single day. So brothers and sisters, what I'm trying to get across to you is please, I beg of you, please live like Jesus could return tomorrow. He could return tonight. Live like it. Live like it. I don't know about you. Uh

Live Awake Pray Serve Share

I'm gonna close with this. I don't know about you, but when Jesus comes back, I don't want him to find me spiritually sleeping.

I want

SPEAKER_02

I want him to find me praying, praying for my friends, my family, praying for people around me, the sinners, my neighborhood, my community, our county. I want him to find me serving, serving others the best that I can. I want him to find me sharing the gospel. I want him to find me out there bringing the word of God to anybody that will listen to it. I want him to find me keeping my fire burning. I want him to find me busy doing the Father's work. Friends, I want to live each day in such a way that if Jesus called my name tonight, I wouldn't have nothing left to do except to fall into his arms. And I want that for you too. I want that for you too. And I'm gonna say this if you're listening here today and you don't know Jesus, I want you to know that Jesus is coming. Like a thief in the night. And you don't have to take my word for it. Read Revelation 22. He said it. He said he was coming back. He said it three times. And you know what? You might think, well, why is that a big deal? My friends, it's a big deal. Because he's coming back as a savior to some people, and he's coming back as a judge to others. And the choice is yours. He's coming back. He's coming back, like he said he would. Every single thing in his word that he said has come to pass. Every single thing except that, and I know Jesus Christ does not lie. The word of God does not lie, he is coming back. Please, please, hear me. Somebody hear me. He's coming back like he said he would. Like a thief in the night. And the word says, You we don't know what day or what hour. Please, please live. Live ready as much as possible. That's all I have. I hope this has blessed you as much as it's blessed me to bring it to you. And I'm going to end with a prayer.

Closing Prayer And Blessing

SPEAKER_02

Our Father God in heaven, we thank you, Lord, for these words. We thank you, Lord, for your roadmap. We thank you for the warnings. We thank you, Lord, for the things that you have told us to be able to be ready, to be ready for when you come to get us all. Lord, I ask you to let these words penetrate the hearts out there that need to hear it, that needs to open up their eyes and that needs to listen and think about the questions that I have asked them here today. Are they ready? Lord, I ask you to just let these words go to the hearts and the minds of the people that need to hear it. The people that don't have their self ready, please penetrate them hearts so they will get ready. Lord, I know there's people out there today that says they're ready and they're probably not. Penetrate the hearts with this word. Lord, tonight. We thank you, Lord, for everything you've given us. We praise you, we honor you, we love you. In Jesus' holy name, we pray. Amen and amen.
