Prayer, Scripture, And Self-Examination For A Stronger Walk With God
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
“Your will be done” sounds simple until you slow down and ask what you’re actually saying. We start with a quick check-in from the studio, including a joyful report from a tent revival where souls were saved and God moved in a real way, then we turn to a question that hits every believer sooner or later: is there a right way to approach God in prayer and in Scripture?
We share what the Lord has been teaching us about reading the Bible with reverence, not rushing past conviction, and not hiding behind endless “interpretations” when God’s instructions are already clear. From there we open 1 Corinthians 11 and talk about the Lord’s Supper, self-examination, and why “eating and drinking unworthily” is a warning we should take seriously. One powerful thread runs through it all: when we open the Word, we’re not just studying text, we’re coming to Christ, the Bread of Life, and that changes how we prepare our hearts.
Then we tackle the big one: the will of God. We connect God’s will to love in action, humility, and obedience that actually moves, not passive waiting. We also talk about healing, provision, and what prosperity can mean biblically, while still facing the reality of hardship and the roles God uses to shape us. We close with Scripture examples and a simple challenge: examine your heart, align with the Word, and live God’s love out loud.

I would like to welcome everyone to the show enjoy and God bless everyone.

An 80s Mood And A Revival Report
SPEAKER_00Praise the Lord. I guess you guys, if you could see in the studio, I'm sitting here just like you would back in the 80s. My head's rocking. Hey, I love I love 80s hairstyle, you know, music. Um, yes, I am an 80s child. I am proud of it. Yes, God is good. Hey, 80s was a good time. Yes, they was. Um, and I I I uh anybody that disagrees, I beg, you know, you you need to reconsider it. But today is an awesome day, and is a we serve an awesome God. And I'm glad to be back in the studio. Sorry I wasn't in the studio last week. Well, had a tent revival at our church, and I dedicated that that whole week to the tent revival. Souls were saved, praise the Lord. And um there was a few people that was healed. I can't remember exactly what uh they were healed from, um, but you know, it was life-threatening, and God healed them, God touched them, God has given all the glory, and again, souls were saved, souls come back to God, souls were renewed, chains were broken, and you know, and I thank God for it. I really do. God is good, is he not? We serve an awesome God, and I thank God for it. And um, you know, I've got a board in front of me, it's a blackboard, and it says my vision and my dreams, and it's I guess the world would call it a bucket list, but you know what? I call it my vision for God and my dreams for God, and uh I thank God for it, you know, and he's fulfilled a lot of it. Yeah, I used to have a bucket list growing up, you know, worldly bucket list. I'm pretty sure everybody had one at one time in their life, and I kept scratching off and scratching off and kept adding to it and adding to it, and you know, now I've now I walk with the Lord and I've got a bucket list for the Lord. You know, whatever you want to call it is my vision and my dreams, and um and I'm checking them off one by one, and God is good, and I believe he'll continue to allow
Trading A Bucket List For Vision
SPEAKER_00me to check off and allow me to grow. And uh I thank God um it's wonderful to be here again. I can I I can't stress it. I can't stress it enough how God has been so good to me. He's given me another day to give him praise and glory. You know, today I want to talk to you about how the Lord has been teaching me the right way to do things, the right way to pray, the right way to read God's word, you know, and uh, you know, I I truly believe there is a wrong way, and there is a right way to do something, especially when it comes to approaching God. You know, I'm talking about the creator of the universe. This is a God, you know, he formed us, the very essence of man, from his hands. From the dust of the earth, he picked us up and formed us. Life was breathed into us, and I just don't believe that we can approach a sovereign God just any way that we feel like. Ain't that the truth? This prayer opened up so much more. So many things God opened up how it all ties together, and you know, and I didn't realize reading, you know, life and prayer and life with God tie it all, it just it all ties together. See, God is a full circle God. God everything ties in with God. You guys gotta bear with me. I'm gonna get a little drink here. I'm sorry about that, but everything ties in with God. Like I said, it's full circle. You know, there is not multiple interpretations when it comes to God's instructions. And see, and I think that's where we fell at. We'll say, Well, this is the way I believe, this is the way I see it. It's not, it's the way God says it, and we should take it as is. You know, his word will always be the same. It don't change, folks. It's like math, the universal language that connects every one of us. It don't matter where you're at, two plus two is always going to equal four. No matter where you're at on this earth or in this universe, four. It's always going to equal four. And I don't care if aliens come down and deduct you, and their
The Right Way To Pray
SPEAKER_00math will stay the same. It's a universal language. You know, I want to walk you through what the Lord has been showing me about prayer and scripture and what his will means for my life and your life, you know. And to point out before I get started, I have only touched a small fraction of who God is with this. This every time God shows me something, I am truly amazed how complex but simple God is. It it it blows my mind. And um, and I I I take this too. Please, please, please, listen. Take heed. But also, folks, if I'm wrong, I'm a man. But if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Please go search the scriptures, check it out. It I'm giving you an open door to call me out, you know, talk to me, email me. Um, because um that's that's just plain and simple. And um, but you know, let's go to First Corinthians 11, 27 through 30. Paul writes, wherefore whosoever shall eat of this bread, eat this eat this bread and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthy, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. I have noticed in the years the scripture is misinterpreted a lot, or just don't have the understanding of it. And uh, but keep in mind everything ties together with God. And I was one of those people, just out of lack of ignorance and stupidity, I didn't search the scriptures, I didn't read it, I didn't pray about it, I just took it as is, and I've listened to people, and I took their understanding of it and ran with it. And uh when I tell you to go look at the scriptures and read it right after me, you read it, you pray about it, and you see if I'm right, or you see if I'm wrong. You know, scripture tells us that Jesus Christ is the living embodiment of the spoken word. And John, Jesus says, I am the bread of life, and he that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. Taking the Lord's supper isn't just a physical act, it is a deeply spiritual act as well. First Corinthians 11, 24 through 25, Jesus says, Take eat. This is my body which is broken for you. This do in remembrance of me. Every single time I read the word of God, I am spiritually eating and drinking of Christ, because Jesus is the word made flesh. Because of this, when I open my Bible, I take the time to examine myself first, just as the scriptures command. In verse 28, but let a man examine himself and let and uh sorry, tongue twisted, but let a man examine himself and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup. Have you ever noticed whenever God gives us instructions, there's usually two parts of that instructions. And usually the second part of the instructions is warning lights. Verse 29 and verse 30, we see the warnings. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body for this cause. Now here's the key, folks. Here's the key, and I know
Communion, The Word, And Examination
SPEAKER_00that is a wee reason why we're not doing things right. Because the scripture, the scripture tells us to, it's plain and simple. For this cause, many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. Well, what's it mean by sleep? Well, the same thing I told you at the beginning, I was pretty ignorant when it comes to the word of God because I didn't read, because I didn't apply myself. You know, and that's as plainly plain and simple. A few, you know, like a few days ago, the Lord started teaching me about his will, what it actually is, what actually is the will of God, and how does it fit into all of this? God freely gives us knowledge and understanding and insight into his mysteries. But the knowledge of God is only a small fraction of his will. So what is the larger part of his will? Ding ding ding. We are. You are the one God sent, his only begotten son for Christ Jesus. Christ died for you, for me, and for many others. We often pray, Lord, your will be done, not mine. But I believe some I believe we sometimes pray that phrase out of content. Not interpret our interpretation is wrong. I'll be the first to say I was guilty of it myself because of lack of understanding. And if you do understand his will, you know, my hat's off to you. But I'm gonna be honest with you, I'm just an ignorant old poor white boy sitting in the hollers of Kentucky, you know, that had rather went out and run through life than and just, you know, I'm but I'm plain and simple, buddy. I'm just blue-collar. You know, I and uh it is what it is. When we pray that prayer in the garden. I don't see I skipped my notes there. Oh, I apologize for that. I you know, Lord teach me about this too, and I'm not I don't like taking notes. I hate taking notes. I hate writing down my because I just want to get up here and wing it. And be truthful, I probably could. But I don't think it'll sound as pretty as you as I think it would sound in my head. It'd probably come out all twisted, and I'd be thinking I s I you know I sounding pretty good, and in reality I don't. So, you know, if you folks really want to understand, you know, know I I got notes in front of me. I have to have notes. And the Lord instructed me to have notes. We often pray the Lord's will be done. Not mine, but I believe we sometimes pray that, like I said, out of that phrase out of content. I don't want to go back over all that. But when Jesus prayed that prayer in the garden, he knew exactly what God wanted. He knew what it would take to fulfill it. God sent his only begotten son to die for mankind. Again, Christ knew exactly what his father wanted him to do. He could not have done what he had done not knowingly and blindly just doing it. Now there is walk by faith and not by sight, but there's things in our life God gives us full instructions on how to do it in detail. We are the will of God, me and you. God's will is not that all men and women come. God's will is not that all men and women come to res I can't even speak today. God's will is that all men and women come to receive Him as Lord and Savior and come to Him in repentance. Sorry about tongue twisted. It is not wrong to pray for God's will in our lives, but we must understand what it means. It boils down to one thing. The love. That L-O-V-E, love. Love is God's will. God the Father, God the Son, Jesus, showed love
What God’s Will Really Means
SPEAKER_00in action and in spirit. As scripture says, faith without works is dead. See, they gotta work together. So why are we sitting around on our hands saying, well, if it's the Lord's will, as He has, you know, I'll do it if it is the Lord's will. Here's the deal. He's already instructed us, He's already told us what to do in detail and how to do it. Did you know His will includes healing of the body? His will includes provision, abundance. Simply putting it, it's prosperity. And for all you people out there, it's against prosperity preaching. That's not God's will. God's will is for us to prosper, to carry on. Now, prosperity comes in many different forms. It comes in wealth, it comes in material things, it comes in spiritual things, it comes in good health. It's it I don't want to get all into that and get get turned around on what I'm trying to say, but it also includes knowing and understanding his mysteries. We can find examples of his mighty sovereign will throughout the world, throughout the word, and it never and it's never what we think it is. Now you might ask, why do we have to face terrible things? True, we've all asked that. I've asked that. I still ask that today. Lord, why am I going through this? Well, scripture shows us that we are placed in certain roles and situations to give God glory, whether through overcoming sickness, enduring hardship, or learning, or just plain old humility. We can't dismiss humility, folks. I'm the king of humility when it comes, Lord, always put me in this humility, you know, humble state. You know, James, you gotta humble yourself, you gotta humble yourself. Without it, you we cannot show love. I promise you, I know that for a fact. Christ couldn't have done what he had done without humility. That which is the greatest commandment of them all is love. And uh we we we got to show it, folks. Humility and love work together, they go hand in hand. One's a catalyst, however you want to say it, you know. In Revelation 1 6, he has made us kings and priests unto God and his and his father to him. Be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Knowing and I know who you are in Christ is a co a core part of his will. We are a royal priesthood, and Christ is teaching us how to live and how to walk as royalty. We wonder why we don't see more healing, why there's so much lack in the church today. It's because we're not doing the instructions that God's told us to do the right way. God plainly tells us through the word of God. This is the reason why we read the word of God. This is why the Lord instructs us to read the word of God. See, the Lord says, Him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not to him, it is a sin. So when you stand before Christ and you say, Well, Christ, I didn't read because I did not understand. I I'm not a good reader, I'm not this or I'm not that, and he says, There's no excuse.
Bible Examples And A Final Challenge
SPEAKER_00The scripture says, Him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, it is a sin. And God says, No sin winter into heaven. I use that small scripture alone for everything in my life. Him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not. I use that in my everyday walk with God. God's will has to demonstrate from the very beginning. We see it in the story, God's will has been disrated from the very beginning. Like I just said, we see it in the story of Noah and his family. We see God's sovereign will when he led the children of Israel out of the Pharaoh's hands. He didn't just stop there, he fed them, he clothed them, and made sure they lacked of nothing. They was going out of the city with gold on their backs. He was given to them by the very enemy, prosperity. Another example was Israel prayed for a king and they cried out, We need someone to guide us. We need a king. That prayer was against God's sovereign will. God wanted to be their protector, their protection, their provider. And and what did God do? They cried enough, He did it. He gave them Saul. And where did that lead them? Well, that, as one of a famous um radio hosts would say, that'd be the rest of the story on that one. And um, I think it was Paul Harvey, and uh, but the will of God is that he wants to be our God, our provider, our father, our husband. He does it all for us out of pure love. And what did Jesus tell the twelve? If you love me, you would keep my commandments. Let's stop being passive about God's promises and let us examine our hearts, walk in humility, align with the word, and live out his holy love every single day. The will of God is trusting in him. I thank you for tuning in today. Until next time, keep seeking his word and walking in his truth.
